I hope this message finds you well. All too soon another year is already ending as we look forward to the holiday and festive season.
Platinum Clubs of the World
I am pleased to share that at the end of October Sentosa Golf Club once again was recognised as one of the Platinum Clubs of the World, an elite group of the very best clubs globally. This means we join the likes of St Andrews, the home of golf, and the Augusta National, home of the Masters, in the list of distinguished establishments recognised for their excellence. This is an enormous honour and I would like to thank our management and staff for the continuing efforts and hard work to ensure that Sentosa Golf Club is ranked amongst the very best in the world.
HSBC World and LIV return
Our Club has become known the world over for our hosting of the HSBC Women’s World Championship and I am delighted that we will once again be welcoming the world’s best women golfers to The Tanjong in February next year.
It will be welcome return with our friends at HSBC, and we always look forward with pleasure to hosting the LPGA and their landmark annual event here.
The same goes for LIV Golf Singapore to which we will again be playing host in March next year.
Trackman Facility
By now most of you will have heard about, seen or even used our amazing new Trackman facility at the range. We are immensely proud of that we now have the first all grass driving range in our part of the world, which is equipped for a world-class training experience. The decision to set up the Trackman Facility is part of our ongoing journey to ensure that we maintain our
standing amongst the best golf course facilities in the world.
Among the first to have the opportunity to try out the enhanced facilities were our members and friends who came for the SG60 Charity Golf Day. We pride ourselves on our faith in sustainability and innovation, and it was a wonderfully forward-looking way to celebrate our island’s landmark anniversary in such style.
Not forgetting that golf is fun has always been in our DNA here at Sentosa, and this was prominent during our memorable Sentosa Ladies Day event in September, which was an enjoyable day of golf followed by dinner. I thank our lady members, and in particular our Lady Captain Gloria Kuok, for being such wonderful hosts to all the invited guests.
Finally I wish our members and their families, and all friends of Sentosa Golf Club the warmest wishes for the coming holiday and festive season, and the absolute best for the New Year!
Warm wishes!,
Andrew M Lim President

Recently, we’ve received a wide range of feedback about the golf course. Some members have expressed concern about the appearance of brown patches on the turf, even wondering if the course is in decline. On the very same day, we received a message praising the exact opposite, someone saying the course is in the best shape they’ve ever seen. So which is it?
Here’s the truth: the course is healthy, strong, and performing exactly as it should, thanks to an ongoing process that most people don’t see unless they’re really paying attention. Those brown spots, the ones catching your eye, aren’t signs of neglect. They’re the visible result of something very intentional, hard work, smart planning, and a dedicated agronomy team doing what needs to be done to keep our championship course in world-class shape.
Let me explain
Throughout the year, foreign grasses naturally work their way into our fairways. These aren’t weeds in the traditional sense, but they are intruders, not part of the native zoysia grass that gives our course its playing quality and character. These foreign grasses grow faster, compete for nutrients, and over time, if left unchecked, they would compromise both the look and playability of the course.
They’re green most of the year and often go unnoticed, even blending in to the untrained eye. But their presence threatens everything we’ve built. To keep the course pure, we have to act, and the only way to truly deal with them is to identify, treat, and remove them. That’s when you see those brown spots: the turf has been treated as part of a scheduled program to control these unwanted grasses. It may look like damage, but it’s actually the opposite, it’s a cleansing. Think of it as scar tissue in the process of healing.
This work can only be done during a short window, from June through November, when weather conditions allow the treatments and we are outside of our tournament window to be effective without putting long-term stress on the turf. During that time, yes, the course may look “patchy.” But this is deliberate, and necessary, and it's what top courses around the

GM Andrew Johnston
world do. In fact, most courses go through this same process. What makes our situation a little trickier is the level of visibility we have. Our course is televised. It hosts major events. And that means every inch is scrutinized.
Still, we don’t shy away from doing what’s best for the course in the long run, and the proof of that commitment is in the results.
Our greens continue to roll at tournament speed. Our playability is consistent. The course layout and strategy remain intact. The brown spots don’t affect your game, they are signs of a disciplined plan to keep this course among the world’s best, not of neglect or poor maintenance.
Behind all this is a team of professionals who show up every day with the same goal: excellence. I want to personally thank our agronomy staff for their relentless work in often thankless conditions. They work long before most of us arrive and long after we leave. Their expertise, care, and pride are what keep this place running. Without them, there is no Top 100 ranking. There is no course to be proud of.
And speaking of rankings, I’m thrilled to share some great news. The latest Platinum Clubs of the World list was just released, and we’ve moved up from #74 to #71. That may sound like just a few spots, but in this company, the top-tier clubs globally, it’s a major achievement. It reflects not only the condition of our golf course, but the total member experience we provide.
This kind of recognition doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of passion, planning, and a commitment to never settle. And yes, sometimes it means living with a few brown spots, scars that show we care too much to let mediocrity creep in.
We’re always listening to your feedback. We don’t ignore concerns, but we also want to share the full story. When you see those patches next time, I hope you’ll see not damage, but dedication. Not decline, but improvement in progress.
Thank you for your continued support, and thank you again to our incredible team. The work you do matters, and it shows.
Warm regards,
Andrew Johnston

Australian Wade Ormsby defeated Scott Vincent from Zimbabwe on the first hole of a sudden-death play-off to win the Jakarta International Championship in early October following one of the closest finishes seen on the Asian Tour this season.
Ormsby triumphed after making a routine par on the par-four 18th, where Vincent found water with his second shot. Ormsby trailed the frontrunner and playing partner Vincent all day, with a stacked leaderboard meaning the tournament could have been won by a whole host of players.
A crucial eight-footer for par on the 18th by Ormsby in regulation play forced the event into overtime. Vincent had left the door open when he made a bogey on 16 and missed a six-foot birdie putt on 17. It was Ormsby’s fifth victory on the Asian Tour and second on The International Series. His last win came at the International Series Thailand in 2023.

Yani Tseng clinched her seventh Ladies European Tour (LET) title at The Wistron Ladies Open, in what was an emotional win on home soil, finishing on 14 under-par at Sunrise Golf and Country Club.
Despite a challenging week in Taoyuan of unpredictable weather conditions of wind, rain, and fog, the tournament was able to still be completed but in a reduced 36-hole format (no cut). Tseng started Sunday tied at the top with Thailand’s Nook Sukapan but still had four shots to complete of round one due to it being suspended yesterday. She then went back out for the final round later in the morning.
She had an impressive run of five birdies on the bounce and carded an additional three including one on the last.
It’s been a long time coming since her last win, the most recent being 2014 Taifong Ladies Open.
Local hero Miguel Tabuena delighted home fans and withstood a barrage of birdies from his nearest rivals, as a solid seven-under par 65 proved good enough for a dominating three-shot win in the US$2 million International Series Philippines presented by BingoPlus.
Playing at his home course, Sta. Elena Golf Club, just a week after he had to pull out of the SJM Macao Open with neck spasms, Tabuena finished on a 24-under total, while the Japanese duo of Kazuki Higa (65) and Yosuke Asaji (67) were tied second at 21-under.
The win, Tabuena’s fourth, makes him the most successful Filipino golfer on the Asian Tour. The previous record of three titles was held by Angelo Que. He also broke through the US$3 million in career earnings on the Tour with his first International Series title.
You may notice certain areas of the course currently undergoing maintenance as part of our ongoing foreign grass removal programme. While these works may temporarily affect the appearance of the course, rest assured that playing conditions remain uncompromised. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this period. Foreign or invasive grasses can spread rapidly across fairways and greens, resulting in uneven lies, inconsistent ball rolls, and varying green speeds. This maintenance effort is a common practice across leading golf courses

worldwide, aimed at ensuring consistency and superior quality of play.
By removing and replacing these grasses with our preferred turf varieties, we are investing in the long-term performance and visual excellence of the course.
Once the new turf has fully established, golfers can look forward to smoother putting surfaces, more consistent lies, and a uniform, championship-quality appearance throughout.
We thank you for your continued support as we work to uphold the high standards and playability that define Sentosa Golf Club.

An afternoon tête-à-tête with legendary putter maker, Sean Toulon, at Sentosa Golf Club.
A very special occasion marked a regular midweek day at Sentosa Golf Club. Sean Toulon, the clubmaker responsible for the recent successes of Callaway Golf, such as the Epic Series – the world’s first A.I. designed clubs – and the entire series of Odyssey putters, paid a visit in an afternoon meet-andgreet session with the Club’s members, hosted by major golf distributor, Leonian Singapore.
In all, about 25 guests gathered at Tanjong Room where Toulon, together with co-founder Toru Kamatari, showcased not only the current, but also the 2026 lineup of Toulon Golf Design putters, including the exquisitely crafted limited edition Small Batch series.

He also revealed new models of low torque putters called The Formula Series featuring three variations to bring the benefits of this fast-emerging trend to all playing styles.
Toulon and Kamatari fielded questions from members and guests in an engaging session, which include insights into women’s and junior putters, and the importance of finding the right putter.
The key takeaway from the maestro? “Everyone can putt. The putter is the single club that you know will either fit or not, a few strokes will tell you that. Find the right putter and you can easily shave off more strokes on your scorecard than any other club.”

The Sentosa Junior Medal held on 28 September was a vibrant showcase of young golfing talent, as 17 junior golfers took to the course with enthusiasm and determination. The event, designed to give our young members a taste of friendly competition, saw participants demonstrating remarkable focus, sportsmanship, and growth throughout the day.
From the first tee-off to the final putt, the juniors displayed both skill and camaraderie, embodying the values that make golf such a rewarding game — patience, precision, and perseverance. For many, it was also a valuable opportunity to build confidence in a formal competition setting while forging new friendships along the way.
SAVE THE DATE:
The next Junior Medal will take place at the end Nov or early Dec. We look forward to welcoming more young golfers to join us for another exciting round as we continue to nurture the future stars of Sentosa Golf Club.

Chef KK delivers exquisite food which embodies the spirit of Sentosa Golf Club. We look back at how one meal in Kentucky Fried Chicken, of all places, propelled him to where he is today.

When Chef KK presents one of his unforgettable dishes to our guests at Sentosa Golf Club, the dedication and attention to detail is clear for all to see.
Meals which linger long in the memory, conjuring the very spirit, sights and sounds of our vibrant corner of Singapore.
But it could all have been so different.
Having failed his N-Levels at school he has gone on to accomplish great heights in the world of cuisine and will once again be contesting the Culinary World Cup around a year from now in Luxembourg. The team finished runner-up in the last edition and he’s aiming to go one higher this time.
At a loss as to where his future might take him, one meal gave him the encouragement he needed to pursue what would become a lifelong passion.
“As a child from a low-income family, I rarely experienced dining out, but a rare visit to a KFC restaurant changed everything,’ said Chef KK.
“Seeing fried chicken served with care, on proper plates with real cutlery, made me feel a sense of wonder and possibility. In that moment, I thought, “This could be my future ‘rice bowl.’
”That memory ignited a deep curiosity and
passion for food, service, and the joy a meal can bring to people.”
After a testing internship at the Raffles Hotel as part of his two-year studies at SHATEC and diligently trying new recipes and approaches during his spare time, Chef KK made rapid progress to become Executive Chef at Sentosa and join the Singapore National Culinary Team.
He has now found his spiritual home at Sentosa, a place which allows him to find his culinary spirit.
“Working at Sentosa Golf Club has given me the platform to express myself fully in the culinary world. The trust and confidence from management have allowed me to take ownership of my work and contribute meaningfully to the Club.
“I’ve had the opportunity to represent food in diverse ways from charity initiatives to signature culinary experiences while also mentoring the next generation of chefs, passing on skills, values, and passion for the craft.”
He’s now been in F&B some 28 years, so
what has been the biggest changes?
“Since I started at Sentosa Golf Club, the biggest change in the food has been the move toward more personalized and story-driven dining experiences. Beyond regular à la carte offerings, we now regularly introduce monthly specials, weekend highlights, and daily features.
And the meal which best represents Sentosa?
“It must be warm, homely, and comforting, yet crafted with quality and creativity through the dedication and teamwork of our culinary team. Whether it’s a casual lunch, a weekend treat, or a special event, the food delights and tells a story through locally inspired flavors, thoughtful presentation, and personal touches making every member and guest feel welcome, valued, and truly at home.”
So what does one of the island’s most accomplished chefs choose to make after a long hard day at the pass?
“Maggi Curry Instant Noodles with Sotong Balls,” he replies. Comfort food indeed.

Working at Sentosa Golf Club has given me the platform to express myself fully in the culinary world. The trust and confidence from management have allowed me to take ownership of my work and contribute meaningfully to the club.

For a Club familiar with notable ‘firsts’, the new Trackman range sets Sentosa apart from the crowd once again
Sentosa has always stood apart for its ability to create firsts.
It’s our spirit of innovation and awareness of the environment around us that spurs on to strive for excellence and improvements every day.
And our new Trackman range is another case in point.
In a first for the whole of Asia, our range is available to our members on an entirely grass surface giving those refining their game the ideal conditions in which to practise most effectively, with state of the art technology on your side. These dedicated bays are now powered by advanced radar technology giving golfers instant access to ball flight and club data, in-depth performance analysis, and interactive practice modes, designed to deliver unmatched precision, feedback, and playability.
‘It’s the best of both worlds and something that truly sets Sentosa apart, says Nicole Thew, Sentosa’s Director of Golf.
“It’s a big part of what makes this facility special. Practising on real grass gives players the same feel, feedback and ball reaction they’d experience on the course, while Trackman provides the precise data to support improvement.
Among the first to have the opportunity to try out the enhanced facilities will be those playing in the SG60 Charity Golf Day, which coincides with the launch. Celebrating the 60th anniversary of Singapore’s independence, all proceeds from the day will support community and youth development initiatives nationwide. Nicole and her golf team will be incorporating Trackman into the

coaching services they offer and hope the outstanding facility will help members and guests alike feel more confident and capable the next time they take on The Serapong or The Tanjong.
“We encourage everyone to make Trackman part of their regular routine; whether it’s to track ball flight, fine-tune distance control or simply make practice more engaging. Our team is always available to help players get the most out of the system.”
Whenever Sentosa creates or invests in new facilities, it is always with the holistic good of the course and its members at its heart.
“We wanted to introduce something that truly elevates the golfing experience for our members and guests. Trackman enables us to combine cutting-edge technology with the natural beauty of our setting, using data and insights to help players improve while preserving the authentic feel of the game. Beyond performance, it also allows us to monitor range activity, including shots that go over the net, helping us maintain a safe and controlled environment for everyone.”
And there is always one eye on the next generation. Having such a slick system to hand which engages fully with a digital ecosystem is bound to attract the younger generation.
“We do believe this advancement will inspire more younger players to take up the game. The technology makes practice fun, interactive and social, exactly what attracts the next generation of golfers. It’s a great way to get younger players more involved in the game.
“We encourage everyone to make Trackman part of their regular routine; whether it’s to track ball flight, fine-tune distance control or simply make practice more engaging. Our team is always available to help players get the most out of the system.”
And what’s next at Sentosa?
“We’ll keep looking for ways to evolve,” Nicole added. “Whether through technology, design, or new experiences that make practice even more enjoyable and meaningful. Our goal is to ensure Sentosa Golf Club continues to lead the way in golf innovation in Asia.

They say the best part about a birthday is the giving, and the SG60 Charity Day proved no different as the great and good of Singapore came together at Sentosa to mark the island’s 60th birthday with an unforgettable day of generosity and spirit.
Jointly organised by Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC), Sentosa Golf Club (SGC), and Community Chest Singapore, the philanthropic arm of NCSS, this distinguished event went beyond a day of sport — it was a heartfelt commitment to creating lasting community impact.
Golfers, sponsors, and philanthropists came together for fun and engaging competition on the course before retiring for some excellent food and giving generously to numerous activities around the island.
The initiative underscored the incredible power of collective generosity. Individuals and corporate partners from all walks of life came together, united by a common goal — to uplift lives and strengthen our community fabric.
Through this event, we are proud to support over 200 critical social service programmes via Community Chest, with 100% of proceeds going directly towards empowering communities in need — from children with special needs and youth-at-risk, to adults with disabilities, persons with mental health needs, and seniors requiring care.
The SG60 Charity Golf perfectly complements Sentosa’s ongoing community efforts, including our flagship Sentosa Cares Week, where SDC, Island Partners, and corporate organisations collaborate annually to bring joy and inclusion to beneficiaries across the island.
As co-organisers, SDC remains steadfast in driving inclusive tourism and community impact — from introducing Singapore’s first accessible beach tracks to launching inclusive tours led by persons with disabilities.
A heartfelt thank you to all participants, sponsors, donors, and partners who made this event possible.

59club’s Chris Geraghty tells us about the business and how he and his team will help elevate the Sentosa gust experience to even greater heights
Tell us a little about your background.
I’m from a club management and hospitality background and consider myself privileged to have worked with some amazing people at amazing venues through my career. I previously worked for Stella Di Mare Hotels & Resorts in Egypt prior to before joining Troon Golf in 2016, where I was General Manager for nine years at three properties around the world: first The Allegria Golf Club in Cairo, followed by The Royal Golf Club in Bahrain, and Vattanac Golf Resort in Cambodia.
I was a customer of 59club through this time earning five Gold Flags at various venues, which was the catalyst for joining 59club when the opportunity arose at the end of 2024. I’m delighted that I have the unique opportunity and privilege to share my knowledge and success using 59club tools throughout Asia to improve member and guest satisfaction at a wide range of venues, clubs, hotels, restaurants, and resorts. Tell us a bit about the 59club business.
59club originally started in 2008 in the UK with a small number of highend golf clients such as The Belfry and Forest of Arden. It has grown
into a company today which works with many of the world’s finest golf venues, resorts, hotels, spas, and dining establishments with over 1,000 active client venues around the world. With this growth, 59club has established regional offices in Canada, United States, United Kingdom, Scandinavia, southern Europe, central Europe, Middle East, Australia, and of course Asia.
The 59club methodology is to measure, train, support, reward. We work with venues by measuring all aspects of an experience providing benchmarking against other similar venues we work with. We train and develop teams and individuals to enhance the overall experience, and we support venues to implement positive changes through a partnership with 59club. We recognize and reward top performing individuals, teams, and venues which achieve the highest level of experience regionally and globally. Tell us about how 59club will be working with Sentosa.
Our work at Sentosa Golf Club consists of measuring all aspects of the member & guest experience, collaborating with the already-amazing team to support the design and implementation of clear strategies which enhance that experience, along with a significant
amount of training which will be a combination of classroom and on-job training further extending Sentosa Golf Club’s position as a globally leading venue. Further, we are creating a fully customised version of our Learning Management System, MyMentor for Sentosa Golf Club which will create the ability for management and staff to develop their skills.
This is the meeting of two outstanding brands and businesses, what does it mean to you to be working with a club like Sentosa?
Sentosa Golf Club has such a tremendous history and is without doubt a global leader on so many various fronts. This collaboration really highlights Sentosa’s commitment to continuing to prioritise member and guest experience, regardless of being such a busy venue with so much going on. It’s extremely exciting for 59club to collaborate with such a phenomenal and accomplished management team where there is so much in place for us to recognise and celebrate, but also a team which, under the diligent leadership of Andy Johnston, are continuing to push the envelope and further enhance Sentosa Golf Club and the overall experience provided to members and guests.

Her third LET victory of the year in India has put Shannon Tan at the top of the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit with only a handful of events left in 2025.
Our very own Shannon Tan is developing something of a reputation as a fast finisher, and she was true to form as she surged through the pack to win the Hero Women’s Indian Open in October.
Much like her dazzling finish to claim fourth in the Aramco Houston Championship in September, Shannon came from seven shots back at the start of the final round to card a 5-under-par 67 and win by one shot from England’s Alice Hewson. Such was the drama of the closing holes that Shannon was on the practice range preparing for a playoff when the news came through that she had actually secure her third win of the season on the LET Tour.
“I’ve never ever won while practising for a playoff, so this is definitely a first for me!” Shannon told us, adding that her next events were to be the
Wistron Ladies Open in Taipei and the Aramco China Chamspionship in Shenzhen.
“I knew there was a chance, so I was waiting to see what would happen on the last hole and tried to keep my body moving.”
Shannon believes her outstanding results have come about from a renewed focus on giving herself as many chances as she could to compete at the top of the leaderboard, and now the prize of the season’s order of Merit winer is within her grasp.
“At the start of the year, I told myself I wanted to put myself in contention more often to give myself a chance to win - that’s been the game plan all season. It’s about locking in, staying focused on each shot, and being as aggressive as I can when the opportunity is there.
“To be honest, I try not to look at the leaderboard during the round, so I’m not always sure where I stand. I just focus on playing my best golf and seeing where that puts me at the end. So from which parts of her game has her success evolved?
“My driving and approach play have been the stronger parts of my game
recently. When the putter is working, everything tends to come together! My short game is something I’m still working hard to improve, there’s always room for improvement. “
This is her most successful year to date, but she’s not finished just yet.
“It means a lot to get my third LET win, and my second this season after the Amundi German Masters. It’s been a great year so far, and I’m really proud of how I’ve stayed consistent and kept giving myself chances to win, which was one of my main goals this season.
“The mindset is just to keep doing what I’ve been doing. It’s been a long but really rewarding season, and I want to finish strong and keep building on the momentum. My main goals remain the same – aiming for the top of the LET Order of Merit, performing well at LPGA Q-School, and giving my best every week. And you would think after such a frantic and successful year that she would have a nice extended break planned, but she has not set her mind to it just yet!
“I haven’t really thought too far ahead yet, but I’m definitely looking forward to some off-season rest and downtime with my family and friends in December!”
My main goals remain the same – aiming for the top of the LET Order of Merit, performing well at LPGA Q-School, and giving
my best every week.

The Serapong turns into a riot of colour as a huge field enjoyed a great day of fun, play and comradeship.
The Sentosa Ladies Open returned in September and with it came a riot of colour and laughter as an impressive 194 golfers lined up for the 2025 Sentosa Ladies Open. The biennial event teed off with both morning and afternoon rounds, blessed with perfect golfing weather.

As the sun set, the Clubhouse transformed into a vibrant party scene where participants arrived glammed up and ready to celebrate. The evening came alive under the infectious energy of emcee KP Sandhu, who kept the laughter and excitement flowing throughout the night.
The event was not only a testament to the ladies’ love for the game but also to their flair for fun and friendship — a hallmark of the Sentosa spirit. A heartfelt thank you to all sponsors for their generous contributions in making this year’s Sentosa Ladies Open an unforgettable success!

Superstar Gaby Lopez is looking forward to returning to Sentosa, and it isn’t all about the golf.
The Mexican is a three-time winner on the LPGA Tour and is one of the most recognisable faces in world golf. She likes Sentosa too. Last time she played The Tanjong she finished fourth in the HSBC Worlds in February of this year.
She takes time out from her busy schedule to tell us what makes Sentosa special for her, and how the chilli crab is high in her thoughts as she looks forward to returning to Singapore.
What makes playing at Sentosa special for you?
The golf course is tough, it can get windy and I love the strategic and mental challenge out there.
You have a solid record in the HSBC Worlds at The Tanjong and finished in a tie for fourth this season. Does the course match up well with your game?
Yes , I have better performances at tough golf courses, it’s long and the wind plays a big role. You have to hit good iron shots in order to score. It’s a ball striking course and I love that.
What part of your game needs to be at its best to play well at Sentosa?
Driver and iron play.
Apart from the golf, what do you look forward to the most about returning to Sentosa and Singapore?
I love the city, I love the different activities to do around the city, the gardens, the great restaurants. I think it is one of my favourite stops on tour for sure.
Is there a particular shot that sticks in your memory from the many times you have played The Tanjong?
I think number 12 is a good hole. If you play even par or under par that hole, you are gaining strokes against the field.
Hole number 4 is also iconic, and its views are awesome.
What is your favourite hole?
Number 11 is a tough hole. And it benefits long hitters. I love that hole.
Do you remember a particular meal you enjoyed eating while you were with us at Sentosa?
Chilli crab is the best.
What are your targets for the remainder of 2025 and for 2026? I want to be in contention and play on the last groups on the weekend. I want to win my own mental challenge and enjoy doing it.
