”I enjoy both art and spreading kindness to others and being able to volunteer with People Spread Love has allowed me to do both. Reading the stories of those nominated with PSL touches my heart and makes me want to brighten their day in some way. I try to customize the card with what each recipient would like then fill the card with words of encouragement and love. Creating these cards is just a small way I can help bring happiness to the community and I hope they bring light to everyone who receives one. ”

Dear Community Member,

People Spread Love (PSL) is a non-profit organization that empowers community members (like you) to write "notes of love" to people facing adversity all around the world. We appreciate your interest in spreading love and compassion in (y)our community with us!

PSL began responding to a need to connect and be there for a community suffering the unthinkable In the summer o a white supremacist attended a bible study at African Method st p scopa Church in Charleston, SC. The man shot and killed nine black people with a lethal weapon. I sobbed in my car, asking, "why".. that pain lingered, and although SC is thousands of miles away from me, I felt empathy and compassion for the community that suffered such a significant loss.

I walked down the greeting card aisle in the grocery store. I picked up every card that expressed love and compassion with messages of comfort after a loss. I reached out to everyone I knew in town, and the response was tremendous. Before I knew it a medium size box was compiled and mailed to the congregation to show our compassion for the nine souls taken that day. The return address name read: "People Spread Love." That was only the beginning of the organization. We have reached 41 states, 1 U.S. territory, 4 countries and recruited 200+ active volunteers across the country and the world.

When we make this routine of writing notes of love, we normalize kindness and empathy for others, and that's amazing! All ages love this practiceteachers enjoy bringing it to the classroom, counseling centers with their patients, parents with their kids at home, senior centers, and a circle of friends; churches/synagogues/temples resonate with this heartwork! PSL has the power to facilitate deeper connection and love which creates a better world. Your time, energy, and financial support are very much appreciated so we may continue our efforts in spreading love and compassion out into the world.
