Pemi valley outreach is seeking membership for their outreach program. Pemi valley outreach is a non clinical, Peer run mental health recovery program. It is run by peers with lived experience and training in International Peer Support. Pemi Valley Outreach provides individual Peer support, community Peer support meetings, and groups; as well as video chats and phone calls, by appointment, to anyone 18 years of age & older who have been challenged with mental wellness in the past, who are currently being challenged, or are at risk of mental wellness challenges in the future. We cover the following communities: Plymouth, Holderness, New Hampton, Campton, Thornton, Waterville Valley, Woodstock, Rumney, Dorchester, Wentworth and Warren in the Pemi Valley Area. We also cover Bristol, Alexandria, Hebron, Groton, and Danbury in the Newfound Area. Our hours of operation are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10am- 2pm. Tuesday, February 21st is Shrove Tuesday or Mardi Gras, which marks the day before the beginning of Lent on Ash Wednesday. This period is traditionally associated with feasting and merrymaking, as it is the last opportunity for people to indulge in rich, fatty foods and sweets before the austerity of Lent. Shrove Tuesday itself is a time for confessing one’s sins and seeking forgiveness, as well as a time for making preparations for the fasting and penitential period of Lent.
In some communities, the entire Shrovetide period (the week preceding Ash Wednesday) is marked by festivities such as carnivals, masquerade balls, and parades, while in others, people may simply gather with friends and family to enjoy food, games, and other leisure activities. Pancakes are a popular food during this time, as they were traditionally a way of using up rich ingredients like sugar, butter, and eggs before the start of Lent. And so Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, which can fall on any date between February 4 and March 10, depending on the date of Easter in a given year. This year Ash Wednesday is February 22nd.
All are welcome Sunday mornings, as we come together to Worship God and celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ this Easter Season. Our Church is a member of the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches, a national body of churches dedicated to preserving traditional Congregational principles and practices in the world.
