NEW YORK CITY GATEWAY

Our project is composed of basic frame units just like our precedent Pompidou, structure units assembled together and make a free space for all kinds of activities. In our project, different sizes of frame units combined and intertwined into a complex transmission logistics system. In the building, the cargo is transported by conveyor belts and suspended robots. We designed many layers of pipes and conveyor belts and each layer of pipeline is responsible for the transportation of a certain warehouse cargo. When the frame is closely arranged without gaps, a flat space is provided for people’s activities like check-in and check-out. The shelves are combined with the conveyor belt, and connect different frames in different height, which stabilizes the structure and makes the storage space more flexible.
