The rise and rise of Pregabalin prescriptions and ambulance callouts Pregabalin has quickly earned an enviable reputation as a major breakthrough in the treatment of pain, but one with a potential dark side. When the drug, known by its brand name Lyrica, was subsidised on the Australian Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) as a treatment for nerve pain in 2013, it seemed like a winner.
