We Are A Reading Academy

Reading leads from our five schools met virtually earlier this term in a meeting chaired by Liz Brown, Deputy Principal at Colne Primet Academy. The group discussed the current practice around reading and interventions which currently takes place in our schools and discussed visiting each other's schools to see some of these programmes in use.

They also identified key events in the year our schools could collaborate on such as World Book Day and National Poetry Day. At the next meeting, they will begin making plans for National Poetry Day which takes place in October.

Children at Casterton Primary Academy took advantage of the sunny weather this term when they read outside at break time. The school's Reading Ambassadors also gave away free books. Children at Pendle Primary Academy have enjoyed a visit from author Serena Patel this term.
