September Events Pen Bay Medical Center & Waldo County General Hospital Happy Wanderers Hiking Group: Newman Preserve Thursday, September 1, 10 a.m. to noon Newman Preserve, Beech Hill Road, Northport Coastal Mountains Land Trust and Journey to Health are pleased to offer monthly guided hikes, free and open to all ability levels. This hike will be at the Newman Preserve in Northport; it is 2.2 miles long and the level is moderate. WCGH Drive-Thru Flu Clinics Tuesdays, September 6, 13, 20 & 27, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 125 Northport Ave., Belfast Waldo County General Hospital is offering weekly drive-thru flu clinics, open to adults and children 3+. Most insurances accepted; please bring your insurance cards. Those without insurance will be billed an amount to be determined after the final cost of the vaccine is known. Standard and high dose flu shots will be offered. No appointment necessary.

Alzheimer's Disease Support Group Tuesday, September 6, 6 p.m. Virtual Meeting The Alzheimer’s Support Group provides information and support to area residents who have loved ones coping with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. Currently the group is meeting via Zoom. Free. Those interested in participating should contact Cheri Blouin, LSW, at 301-6237 or at cheri.blouin@mainehealth.org for the meeting details. Gentle Birth Tuesdays, September 6 - 27, 6 to 8 p.m Virtual class Enjoy a new approach to child birth class that combines brain science, birth science and technology to empower your positive birth through preparation. This class will include training and education in mindfulness, hypnosis, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and sports psychology. A mobile app will also be available to enhance the learning experience. This class is free but pre-registration is required in order to obtain virtual access. Please call 301-8337 to register. Take a Break with Guided Meditation Wednesdays, September 7 - 28, noon to 12:30 p.m. Virtual class Making time in your day to recharge is important for your well-being and can be as simple as tuning in for this virtual class. Find a quiet spot and sign in for as much of this short meditation break as you can. The class will begin with a 15-20 minute guided meditation, followed by five minutes of silent meditation and a brief time for reflections/questions. Cooking Matters at the Store Tuesday, September 13, noon to 1 p.m. Virtual class Want to learn how to stretch your dollars at the store? This class will teach participants how to plan, budget and shop for meals that are healthy, tasty and low in cost. All participants will receive a recipe booklet and a $10 Hannaford gift card. Concussion Support Group Tuesday, September 20, noon to 1 p.m. Virtual meeting Healing from a brain injury takes a long time. Join facilitator Moriah Hersey, OTD, OTR/L, for this informative and interactive support group where you can share your struggles with concussion; learn more about concussions, treatment and outcomes; and connect with others who have had similar experiences. There will be recipe demonstrations at each fun and interactive virtual session. All participants will receive a colorful cookbook with 24 healthy, low-cost recipes and nutrition tips! Belfast Public Health Free Flu Clinic Thursday, September 22, noon to 6 p.m. Belfast Boathouse, 34 Commercial Street, Belfast Belfast Public Health Nursing is hosting a free flu shot clinic for uninsured Belfast residents. The clinic is open to adults 18+. No appointment necessary.
