September Events Pen Bay Medical Center & Waldo County General Hospital Breastfeeding Support Group Tuesdays, September 7 - 28, 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Virtual meeting A support group for breastfeeding families. The informal group provides interaction as well as individual assistance when needed. Women wanting more information about breastfeeding are also welcome. Facilitated by a lactation consultant from OB/GYN. Please call 301-8337 for more information. This group is free but pre-registration is required in order to obtain virtual access. Alzheimer's Disease Support Group Tuesday, September 7, 6:00 p.m. Virtual Meeting The Alzheimer’s Support Group provides information and support to area residents who have loved ones coping with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. Currently the group is meeting via Zoom. Free. Those interested in participating should contact Cheri R. Blouin, LSW at 301-6237 or at cblouin@pbmc.org for the meeting details. Gentle Birth Wednesdays, September 8 - 29, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Virtual class Enjoy a new approach to child birth class that combines brain science, birth science and technology to empower your positive birth through preparation. This class will include training and education in mindfulness, hypnosis, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and sports psychology. A mobile app will also be available to enhance the learning experience. This class is free but pre-registration is required in order to obtain virtual access. Please call 301-8337 to register.

Postpartum Support Group Thursdays, September 9 & 23, 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Virtual meeting This support group was created by a group of women and moms, who have gone through challenging postpartum experiences themselves and/or have been educated on them. We offer a safe place for new and pregnant mothers and families to talk, listen, get support and gain education on postpartum experiences. This is a free group for moms, moms-to-be and family members who want to connect with others. The group meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. For more information, please call 505-4140. Breastfeeding Class Tuesday, September 14, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Virtual class This single two-hour class provides a pre-birth opportunity to ask questions and learn about breastfeeding and returning to work. Advance Care Planning Workshop Wednesday, September 15, 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Virtual class Advance care planning is an organized process of reflecting upon and discussing goals for future health care decisions. It is an important part of creating an advance directive, which tells others what medical care you want or do not want to receive if you become too ill in the future to tell them. Join trained advance care planning facilitator Vikki Webster for this online workshop where you will begin the process of filling out your advance directive. Easy Going Yoga Thursdays, September 16 - October 21, noon to 1:00 p.m. Virtual class Easy Going Yoga is designed with the older student in mind. Antonia Small, owner of ORYX WORX Fitness, will teach you to stretch, strengthen, breathe and relax while improving your posture and body alignment. Concussion Support Group Tuesday, September 21, noon to 1:00 p.m. Virtual meeting Healing from a brain injury takes a long time. Join facilitator Moriah Grant, OTD, OTR/L, for this informative and interactive support group where you can share your struggles with concussion; learn more about concussions, treatment and outcomes; and connect with others who have had similar experiences.
