The informal group provides interaction as well as individual assistance when needed. Women wanting more information about breastfeeding are also welcome. Calming Yoga Wednesdays, May 5 – 26, 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Virtual class Join certified yoga instructor Patti Prema Kristiansen for this virtual yoga class that is designed to decrease anxiety, stress and inflammation. The class will include gentle breathing techniques, postures and meditation that can improve feelings of safety and calmness. No previous yoga experience required. $26 registration fee is required. GentleBirth Wednesdays, May 5 – 26, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Virtual class Enjoy a new approach to child birth class combining brain science, birth science and technology to empower your positive birth through preparation. This class will include training and education in mindfulness, hypnosis, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and sports psychology. A mobile app will also be able to enhance the learning experience. Advance Care Planning Workshop Wednesday, May 12, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Virtual class Advance care planning is an organized process of reflecting upon and discussing goals for future health care decisions. It is an important part of creating an advance directive, which is a written plan that represents your individual preferences and tells others what medical care you want or do not want to receive if you become too ill in the future to tell them. Join trained advance care planning facilitator Vikki Swan for this online workshop where you will begin the process of filling out your advance directive. Postpartum Support Group Thursdays, May 13 & 27, 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Virtual meeting This support group was created by a group of women and moms, who have gone through challenging postpartum experiences themselves and/or have been educated on them. We offer a safe place for new and pregnant mothers and families to talk, listen, get support and gain education on postpartum experiences. This is a free group for moms, moms-to-be and family members who want to connect with others. The group meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. For more information, please call 505-4140. Cooking Matters Tuesdays, May 18 – June 22, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Virtual class Based on the USDA’s Dietary Guidelines for Americans, the Cooking Matters Maine curriculum teaches healthy eating habits, cooking skills, food shopping and budgeting. Each class focuses on a theme such as fruits and vegetables, cutting fat or healthy snacking. Chefs add their own creative touches with low-cost, nutritious recipes they create and demonstrate. Ingredients will be made available for pick up so you can cook along! Participants will also receive a Hannaford gift card at the end of the sixth session.
