Since the start of term students have been gaining merits for excelling in the academy. Each month students who have gained the most merits in each form group will be awarded a certificate and the top scoring student in each year group (in bold type below) will be awarded with a certificate and a badge. Mr Townley, Assistant Principal: Our first Drop Down Day of the year takes place on Tuesday 9th October.

Year 7 will be taking part in a day where they carousel around the L4L teachers looking at a range of things around PSHE and how they have settled in so far this term.

Year 8 will be having a theatre production in the hall followed by a carousel of workshops looking at being resilient in social scenes.

Year 9 will be focusing on careers and building their CV and Personal Statement.

Year 10 will be concentrating on healthy lifestyles choices.

Year 11 will be working in options subjects concentrating on maximising successes for the forthcoming exams to make them the most successful year group ever at Pegasus.

Mrs Alam, L4L Teacher: On Friday 28th September Pegasus Academy was honoured to host a visit from Ian Austin MP. As part of the L4L Curriculum, Year 7 had been learning about Political Power in Britain and how democracy and politics influences our lives. Ian Austin MP supported this by giving a talk to Year 7 about his role and what it is like to be an MP. The session ended with a question and answer session followed by the 'Make Your Mark' campaign voting for key issues to be debated through Dudley Youth Parliament which was hosted by Year 11 student leaders.

Can students be reminded that a pedestrian crossing is provided to ensure safe crossing of the busy roads around the academy.

A member of the public has reported that some students are crossing whilst it is unsafe to do so. Please ensure that you use the crossings correctly.

Miss Wade, Head of MFL: On Wednesday 26th September, we held our first Great European Bake Off in order to celebrate European Day of Languages and raise money for the charity MIND. There were lots of creative entries from all year groups and it was a tough decision to pick the winners of the two categories.

Fatiha Iqbal (7SDI) (pictured) won the large cake category for her Italian inspired fruit cake.

Alliya Rahim (11HIB): won the cupcake category with her French Tricolour inspired cakes.

A message from voluntary group ‘Friends of Grange Park’: Grange Park has been selected by the council to be a ‘Healthy Hub Satellite Park’ where we will be focusing on encouraging all sorts of sports and physical activities in the park.

We would like to offer free weekly coaching sessions. What sport or activity would you like to take part in? What day and time would you like the sessions to take place?

The student shop re-opened today. Visit the shop if you need to pay in money for trips or purchase a planner or stationery. You will be issued with a receipt for money handed over.

Payments can be made at the following times: 8.25am - 8.35am 11.00am - 11.15am 2.45pm -2.55pm Money will not be accepted outside of these times so please do not visit during lunch or lesson time. Please note that if payment is for a trip, money will not be accepted without a consent form (signed and dated by a parent/guardian).

Yashal Fatima (11MTA/HIB): On Thursday 27th September Year 11 students visited Dudley College to take part in the Elevate programme. We discussed what we need to do in order to prepare for our GCSE examinations. Three steps which we learnt were ‘Learn, Practice, Master’. The tips regarding trigger words, exam specification and past papers were all helpful.

I found the session very useful and I have already started using the techniques in my revision.

Sana Ali (11SJA): The time spent at the college was an amazing way to learn what we need to improve on to be the best we can be.

We have had a busy start to the new academic year in the PE department.
