ENVELOPING BUILDINGS INTERVENTION GRADE PROYECT

CONTEXT In 1969, thanks to the “Panamerican Games”, the city of Santiago de Cali (Colombia) entered in a phase of modernization where most of the buildings of republican and colonial architecture were demolished in order to give a modern image of the city to international visitors, prevailing only it's facades as remaining vestiges These so-called "enveloping buildings" prevailed over time due to a rule that prevents the demolition of their facades and therefore, currently most of these are unoccupied due to the costs involved in maintaining them.

HYPOTHESIS Taking into account the high occupancy needs of the city center, the proposal revolves around the redensification of these properties from the void, through the creation of a manual in order to identify different possibilities for conservation, restoration and the creation of potential future uses that value the historic center of the city by granting alternatives to its owners for the maintenance of their facades and rehabilitating the area of the city where this architecture had gone unnoticed.

The project addresses a manual type proposal to create architecture from the contrast generated by redensifying the void, allowing to complete the uneven context that these unoccupied spaces have left in the historic center of the city.

OBESO HOUSE AN HERITAGE INTERVENTION

OBESO HOUSE HERITAGE INTERVENTION Founded in 1974, The Obeso House has always been a heritage treasure of the city Santiago de Cali. This place that began as a private house of the west side of the city owned by one of the most influential families of the town (The Obeso Family) its in the present one of the most cultural and historical places in Cali. Antonio Obeso and his wife Luz Mejía donated the house to the local government to use it as a place to spread the calenian culture.

There's a lot of Galleries from the Tertulian Museum in here and its the main campus of the Obeso Fundation.

That's why it was an honor to be selected to create an intervention in the house that will complement the galleries and the offices of the foundation, creating a restaurant and public space who preserve the most important details of the Californian architecture of the house and, at the same time, create new possibilities to involve the near context with the galleries This project was created as an architect in the firm IM Arquitectura

SANTA FE PARK PRESERVATION COMMUNITY PROJECT

SANTA FE PARK PRESERVATION Architecture responds to a huge number of variables that, depending on the place where it is implanted, have different characteristics and different qualities. This project was carried out in an unforgettable teamwork context that consisted in the realization of a workshop under the execution of place-making that had its starting point in two informal neighborhoods of Cali (Charco Azul and Altos de Meléndez) and a final point of application in Altos de Santa Fe in Mexico City.

The cultural diversity shared in the groups made up of Calenians and Mexicans promoted the use of every experience lived in the different cities as the main executing tool of this project. Later, while visiting the site, all these knowledge and experiences helped us to empathize with the community of the neighborhood of one of the largest cities in the world, which seems to turn it's back on what is heard, seen and lived there.

The project is a mountable and dismountable architecture proposal that aims to spread environmental awareness in the place and also not change it's dynamics, it's culture and it's main potential: The views they have of the entire city.

H.O.P.E CLINICAL CENTER A CULTURAL PROPOSAL

HOPE CLINICAL CENTER Taking on the challenge of designing a dental clinic in a place as particular as the African continent and specifically Rwanda, where its sociocultural background takes center stage to the point of configuring an architectural language, is enormously fascinating.

That's why we set out to understand the place and the people as determining elements of design.

Even when the contest didn't propose to solve urban issues and social connections, we wanted to direct our proposal to an idea that clearly and simply included the local language as a spatial and aesthetic structuring element taking into account these problems.

The topography of the place is a relation of the condition and the fame of Kigali; That's why we wanted to show this virtue, avoiding visual barriers or blocks that divided and lost relation in the slanted lot.

We chose to break the slope and like the tree that provides protection from the sun, a roof is raised that allows spaces rich in lighting, ventilation and visuals.

NATURA PARK MALL A SCALE PROJECT

GUABINAS CITY MALL

One of the best known places in the city of Cali is the Natura farm, where people always used to go to weddings and special events.

Today, this farm has become one of the largest master plan projects of the local government called Natura City, a priority interest housing project that preserves the environmental characteristics of the farm and creates opportunities for workers who live near the place.

We had the honor to create a runaway shopping center with a characteristic scale that doesn't obstructs the ecological reserve of the farm and at the same time, gives the workers who live there the opportunity to have everything they need around the corner.

RENZA HOUSE DETAILS AND CONSTRUCTION

RENZA HOUSE

The house renza had a particular and special condition to be resolved.

The owner of the lot where the house would be located lost her husband at 84 years of age; This filled her with deep sadness and loneliness for more than four months.

That's why with the idea of making her feel more accompanied and happy, the main idea of the house is to put two houses together in one: A house for her, the main owner of the house on the right and a summer house on the left so that each of her children visit her on different days of the year, in order to help her overcome her grief A project made with love and taste for detail that was built in process with its users and allowed one and many lives to be transformed.

SIXTH AVENUE PUBLIC CONNECTION PROJECT

SIXTH AVENUE

The public space recovery project carried out through the EDX platform was developed in order to give life to a project that would represent the value of the effective design of public space in cities and how this allows to enhance the dynamics existing in them; Mostly complementing the project that is currently being developed along the Cali river in the capital city of Valle del Cauca - Colombia and simultaneously applying the knowledge developed in the Urban Planning and Landscaping course.

The result, a project that forms a pedestrian and vehicular urban walk that unites two existing projects in the city: the river walk and the boulevard and expands the mobility possibilities throughout the city.

ELEVEN HOUSE A HOUSE OF ELEMENTS

The main objective of this house was to find a balanced limit between nature and construction in order not to directly intervene in the ecological reserves that this place has. Located in the neighborhood of Pance, culturally characterized by the absolutely private use of the house and the enormous amount of green area and ecological reserves that surround it, the Eleven House is the perfect example of the friendly integration of nature in the construction.

The users, a family of four who love outdoor activities, trail running and yoga.

This house, built on one of the lands of the TUPI ecological reserve of pance , has a program adapted to each user, it's a project full of landscaping and a good choice of materials.
