What are you doing on SteelDay 2010? September 24 is fast approaching, and that question is being frequently asked by the entire steel construction industry. SteelDay was an innovative concept for promotion of steel projects – from conception to completion – by the AISC. FROM THE CEO Dear Customers and Friends,

The best news that I have received in the past couple of months – and you may not agree with me – is that customers that I have visited in the USA and Australia report that they are busy again! Of course, two/thirds of them complain about pricing and margins, but the fact remains that they DO have work. I think we all can agree that there are projects in the market at this time – and soon profits will follow.

Every Cloud has a Silver Lining…

This recent global economy has affected everyone in many ways. But for me on a personal note, I can see the positive side. This economy has given me the opportunity to become much closer to my family, friends, and fellow Peddinghaus employees.

With family, I find myself spending more time at home, doing things like preparing and enjoying a meal together; then gathering my kids together for a lively game of Monopoly or telling ghost stories by a campfire. This is a lot more fun for us that going out to a fancy restaurant.

With the current economy, I was a little concerned about booking a family vacation.

But we decided to explore our community instead, and discovered it really has a lot to offer.

We truly enjoyed ourselves!

Equally important, I find myself spending more time with our employees, and getting to know them all much better.

It has always been a dream of mine to help support our local community. As the economy slowed, this became an ideal time to launch our program “Peddinghaus Cares”. Every Peddinghaus employee is given 3 paid days off to perform community service functions in our local area. Our first opportunity was the last week of July when an elderly couple, who had fallen upon hard times, needed some work done urgently on their home.

As you know, we build some very good machines… thus; we have some very skilled craftsmen who can double as carpenters, painters, plumbers, as well. Five of our shop employees performed a week of carpentry work repairing soffits, fascia, etc and prepping the house for painting.

Then I, my two sons, and 13 other Peddinghaus employees – shop people, engineers, service technicians and accountants – all arrived on the site to start painting the house. You know the saying, “Many hands make light work”, and we had the job done before sunset.

We all had a sense of true satisfaction with a job well done – evidenced by the heartfelt appreciation of this elderly couple. We all had a good laugh when I discovered I had more paint on my shirt than anyone else!

The elderly owners of this home in rural Kankakee County, IL were very grateful for the assistance lent by Peddinghaus employees.

NASCC – Another Great Conference The NASCC Conference was only this past May, but it seems it was a long time ago. As always, it was fantastic to see all of you there.

I must say that there are many beautiful, big shops in this region, but I am continually surprised at how many customers still have dated machines and shop layouts that are wasting profits. Our Advantage 2 = Your Profit Maker Last but not least, is an update on our new Advantage 2 carbide drill with tool changer. We are thrilled by the overwhelming response to the market of this new drill. Our previous drill design – the Advantage PCD 1000 – was the fastest selling multi-spindle drill on the market. The new Advantage 2 is well on its way to breaking those sales records!

Example #2: Too often, I see customers who have old, beaten up conveyors that should not even be in use. Then I see beams moved manually with a crane. There is no material flow at all.

You can easily save thousands of dollars and reduce safety risks at the same time with a modern, well planned shop through-put system.

I am happy to report that our layout marking option is available now on all four axes – including underneath the web. I feel obligated to advise you that after testing, some pieces could require 15 – 20 minutes. An important item to remember is to insure that your detailing software is up-to-date. Proper software communication is essential for machine productivity.

However, one customer does a difficult contour marking on an extra shift for very complicated beam and column fabrications. I agree that under this scenario, the marking makes good sense.

Example #3: We all know that when you drill a hole with a mag drill; you pay $1.50 to $2 per hole. Walk in your shop and count the number of holes.

With a simple Ocean/Peddinghaus drilling machine, you can reduce that cost to less than 10 cents per hole!

What more can I say? I took a trip to the West Coast, where I witnessed three fabricators still using mag drills to create holes. Even the tooling cost is expensive with that practice.

Peddinghaus’ Goal: 10 out of 10 in 2010!

Soon, the kids will be returning to school and another autumn season will be upon us. I am sure that our industry will have many challenges, but if we all work closely together, we can only become better in the future. You can count on Peddinghaus to be there for you – our goal is to score a 10 out of possible 10 in customer satisfaction in 2010!

Peddinghaus “Supports” the AISC Leadership Excellence Award Peddinghaus was pleased to fabricate a support stand for the plaque that houses the prestigious Robert P. Stupp Award for Leadership Excellence.

NASCC 2010 Peddinghaus gives a huge “thank you” to Roger Ferch, Scott Melnick, and Katey Preston on another successful NASCC Conference! The meeting in Orlando was well attended, and continues the efforts of the AISC to promote steel as the “material of choice” for new construction projects.

We certainly enjoyed the Gaylord Palms facility in Orlando! Having “everything under one roof” was a great approach for the meeting. Knowing that this huge facility contained 2,200 tons of steel – all fabricated on Peddinghaus equipment by FabArc Steel, Oxford, AL was very special for all attendees.

The stand was fabricated on a Peddinghaus ABCM 1250 CNC thermal cutting system from a W36 x 300 structural profile, and features intricate thermal cuts that depict the strength of steel construction.

The stand and statue are in the AISC reception area at it’s corporate offices on Wacker Drive in Chicago, IL. The statue, which is about 27" tall, is cast bronze, and it depicts an ironworker with a welding torch working on sloping steel frame.

The award is given to individuals who, through their leadership excellence, have had a great impact on advancing the use of structural steel.

The latest recipients were Bob Owen of PVS Steel, Omaha, NE and Terry Peshia of Garbe Iron, Aurora, IL. You can see past winners at: www.aisc.org.

Modern nesting techniques allow Billington to utilize as much plate material as possible while eliminating scrap wherever possible.

Plate is fed into the machine while finished parts are completed and delivered to a sorting area on the outfeed portion of the machine – eliminating the need for a laborer to enter an operating area and manually remove parts.

As stated in a corporate news release: “Billington sees the [BDL-1250/9D] as a cornerstone investment that will be playing a key role in its future competitiveness within the industry for many years to come.”

The strong points of the machine were evident as soon as it was installed – particularly when it came to clamping for drilling high speeds with carbide tooling. “We were able to increase our carbide speed & feed rates to 10% above those we set on our other carbide drill line, and also 30% above that of the tooling manufacturer’s specification while still preserving tool life.

The machine does an amazing job eliminating vibration and maintaining high speeds and feeds,” said Kevin Campbell.

SCORECARD: Customer Service and Training Billington maintains an elite maintenance group for all of their CNC equipment to ensure that they receive the highest level of performance from their machine tool investments. Turnkey Projects from Argentina… To The World Q. Why did you choose Peddinghaus equipment for your major expansion in 2007?

A. “We did not always have Peddinghaus equipment in our shop. But their people never stopped visiting, educating, or consulting with us – we even took a tour of Europe together in 1998. We were impressed with Peddinghaus technology and their industry knowledge… it also helped us to network with other companies.

Multi-Story History One of the first multi-story steel buildings in Argentina was the “La Nacion” Building, constructed for the legendary Buenos Aires newspaper.

The building was 101 meters tall (over 330 feet) with 17 steel stories built over 5 original concrete floors. This project elevated Cinter as a premier steel fabricator and was a defining moment for steel construction in Latin and South America.

The “Speed Sawing” miter band saw increases production rates which means faster fabrication of all fabricated members.

Cinter was founded in 1973 as an engineering company specializing in thermal dynamic projects with three employees: two co-owners and one employee. What is Peddiflex 3D?!

Peddiflex3D is the latest software innovation from Peddinghaus Corporation in conjunction with industry partner Lantek Software Systems designed to streamline programming for Peddinghaus drill lines, coping machines, angle lines, and thermal processors.

Peddiflex3D has evolved the fabricator and programmer interaction with Peddinghaus machines to a whole new level as never seen before. This new 3D CAD/CAM software package will allow for batch nesting of parts, inventory management, and a wide array of production management reporting tools.

Optional upgrades to the package include complete integration with existing MRP/ERP systems, or even the addition of a seamlessly designed Peddiflex3D MRP/ERP/CAD/CAM solutions package.

THAT ALL SOUNDS GREAT BUT WHAT DOES THAT REALLY MEAN? First things first let’s focus on programming a machine!

Peddiflex3D offers a lot of options when it comes to programming a machine. You can either use existing files as created by a BIM Model (or other outside design platform), or you can program within Peddiflex3D itself.

EXAMPLE 1 – BATCH NESTING Peddiflex3D is capable of expediting the nesting of existing parts files using an all new automatic batch nesting feature. This feature comes standard with a basic license for Peddiflex3D. What this means to the fabricator is that any outside files that are accepted by the software (which includes DSTV, IGES, STEP, DXF, and SAT) can be automatically nested into multiple parts programs and output simultaneously for production.

When batch nesting takes place the program will automatically arrange parts in such a manner that will streamline production and optimize the program for the lowest scrap yield possible.

In addition to this, if inventory is kept current within the program the software will automatically nest based on what is in stock, and output a list of profiles needed to complete the programs nested if there is not enough material available to finish all programs provided.

For example: “Fabricator A” has a phase of a project that needs to be run on the drill line.

He may output the phase from the BIM model and place into a folder on their server. When it’s time to program the machine for these parts he simply has to create a “JOB” within Peddiflex3D and select that folder

which contains the parts. The program will then upload all files within that “JOB” and nest on available stock sizes entered within the program.

If “Fabricator A” has all of the material he needs to run the job he is ready to go and run his machine with the files that have been created.

If he does not have all of the required material the program will output nested programs based on what stock is available and give him a list of what material will be required to complete the remainder of the phase.

EXAMPLE 2 – PART MODIFICATION Even though a part program may have been designed and exported using a popular BIM modeling tool such as Tekla, AceCad, or Design Data it can still be opened and modified using Peddiflex3D's integrated design tools.

Holes can be moved, copied, or changed as seen fit by the operator.

When viewing an entire nest of parts you can easily modify the program, re-arrange parts, remove parts, or change configuration to however you see fit.

Tasks that have in the past been tedious such as changing a hole size on many different parts can prove to be simple using Peddiflex3D’s new integrated design tools.

EXAMPLE 3 – MANUAL PROGRAMMING For instances where a previously developed part file is not provided, programmers can easily create a file using the provided Peddiflex3D CAD/CAM software package. Holes can be created one at a time, or copied multiples at a time. Entire configurations of cuts, copes, or holes within a part file can be modified with limited key strokes.

Whenever I have a question or need additional help the Peddinghaus technical service center is always there for me,” he said.

A Diamond in the Rough Terrain of Utah – Forward Thinking Fabrication Turnkey Solutions to Today’s Structural Fabrication After opening their doors in 1985 with 3 employees specializing in detailing, engineering and drafting, GEM evolved its business model to include its own fabrication services in 1989.

The majority of GEM’s initial “design to fabricate” projects were for the storage of agricultural products. These initial projects led to incrementally bigger jobs until GEM found itself fabricating buildings in excess of 1 million square feet in size.

The official state motto of Utah is simply the word “Industry”. A short visit to this mountainous state in the western part of the USA will prove to you why they chose this mantra – “Industry” is evident everywhere you look.

At the heart of Utah industry, nestled at the base of the Wasatch Mountain range, GEM Buildings maintains a safety minded approach to efficient structural fabrication.

The team at GEM Buildings consists of a tight knit group of true industry professionals which includes Kyle Hansen (President), Brian Bowen (Operations Manager), Jake Larsen (Shop Manager), and Lance Balls (Safety Manager).

Kyle explains that “Although we fabricate the majority of projects we process, we will bid jobs anywhere in the world and sub out the fabrication as needed. If we win a job that’s too far to ship steel we will find a partner to fabricate the steel closer to the erection site. We perform a thorough evaluation of the fabricators’ shop and if they meet our criteria we will do all engineering and detailing while contracting the steelwork to our partner in that region. This allows us to diversify our workload, and use the resources that are available to us to maintain positive cash flows.”

The Sky is the Limit – Peddinghaus and GEM Buildings In 2006 GEM Building’s 3 year old beam punch line was having a hard time adjusting to the heavier, tougher sections required for multi-story buildings. As the organization decided to tackle larger projects such as “Division 5” multi-story jobs in complement to their own design engineering capabilities, they had identified the need for change that included the addition of a beam drilling machine.

When asked about this experience Kyle explained that GEM Buildings “had always enjoyed our beam punch line, and still use it today. It was time for our company to grow, and with thickness limitations paired with the hardening of modern steel our beam punch line was restricted with what it could do. It just became evident with how often we were breaking punches that something had to change.

We could find and add qualified fitters and welders but if your beam line doesn’t keep them busy it’s no use.”

The Peddinghaus BDL-1250/9D is the workhorse of GEM Buildings’ versatile production process.

Critical for processing complex seismic components the ABCM-1250 automatic oxy-fuel coping system plays a large role at GEM Buildings.

That’s when Tom Weaver of Action Machinery came into the picture. A long time dealer of Peddinghaus Products, Tom worked closely with the team from GEM to help identify their needs and recommend solutions. One trip to the Peddinghaus factory to see the products and meet the Peddinghaus support team was all it took for GEM to know that Peddinghaus was their partner for structural steel equipment.

“The automatic coping system sees a lot of work due to the seismic requirements that we have on the West Coast. Common copes like ‘Dog Bones’ or ‘Rat Holes’ are simple to do with the multiple torch heads. This machine really makes our life a lot easier! Currently running a single shift we are easily capable of processing 200 tons per week with our Peddinghaus machines,” claims Brian.

“Peddinghaus’ & Action Machinery’s approach to sales was very open and honest. It was a low pressure setting and they encouraged us to visit users to ask questions of owners and operators...

They didn’t just sit us down and show us a video or fancy animation; they took us to real installations, with real people, running real production.

We did our research, and we asked around at industry meetings. All roads led us back to Peddinghaus,” stated Kyle about the decision making process.

After conducting thorough research of their industry options GEM Buildings chose to install a new Peddinghaus BDL-1250/9B drill /saw combination and ABCM-1250 coper. These new machines dramatically increased GEM Building's drilling and coping capacities while being tied together in a versatile arrangement of material handling. These investments were soon followed with the addition of a model AFCPS823/B Anglemaster which processes all angle and a large amount of plate detail at GEM.

A Focus on Safety – The Added Benefits of Superior Material Handling Fabricators all over the globe view cross transfers and roller based material handling as a way to enhance shop productivity. GEM Buildings utilizes a versatile system of cross transfers, and automated roller carts to improve productivity but that is just a byproduct of its true intent – Safety.

Lance Balls, the Safety Manager at GEM Buildings states “One of the major benefits to our material handling system is that the maximum number of times any profile gets lifted from the time it arrives at the shop to the time it’s placed on its final truck is 7 times. What this means is that there are less chances for employees to hurt their back, less chances to pinch body parts under a profile, or drop heavy items on a foot. There are fewer opportunities for shop employees to walk in the way of a crane

when it is used less frequently. Overall from a safety standpoint the less you handle a profile the safer you are, this is evidenced by our superior safety record.”

Lance has a reason to be proud of his efforts – GEM Buildings has logged over 100,000 straight working hours without an injury or accident – well over a full year of injury-free operations.

NASCC SHOW RECAP To Our Industry Friends and Colleagues, On behalf of every Peddinghaus employee, we wish to thank those guests who participated in the year’s NASCC Conference in Orlando, FL. This year’s conference was held at the beautiful Gaylord Resort, with its 2,200 tons of structural steel fabricated by FabArc Steel on Peddinghaus equipment. If you could not make it to Orlando this year, we thank you for your continued support of the steel construction industry, and look forward to seeing you in the coming months.

The many industry networking events offered at the NASCC conference – and other venues throughout the year – are the bonds that continue to strengthen our industry. Peddinghaus is pleased to have had the opportunity to bring industry members together to share in the camaraderie and communication exchange.

By bringing global colleagues together, Peddinghaus assisted in creating positive educational dialogue to chart the course for the future of our industry.

Harley Tour RECAP Over thirty (30) attendees participated in the fourth annual Peddinghaus sponsored NASCC Fabricators Motorcycle Tour. The tour kicked off the NASCC show with a special two wheeled tour of modern structural fabrication shops along with the best scenery that Florida has to offer.

This year’s group had a distinct international flavor with riders participating from Germany, Austria, Spain, Canada, and Argentina. No problems in communication, though, as Peddinghaus hospitality helps each individual feel they are part of a great traveling “family”.

The group started in Orlando, and made their way down the beautiful state of Florida to Key Largo, where they spent the first night at the beautiful Key Largo Grande Resort and Beach Club.

Attractions on the tour included:

SERVICE TIPS FOR SUCCESS…

Remote Diagnostics What happens when your operator runs into an error code on their control panel that they can’t explain? When your maintenance department is unsure of an issue or procedure, do they need to call in a field service technician to visit?

WHAT IS REQUIRED? The machine or computer in question must have a connection to the internet. If your machine is connected to the internet and has access to www.peddinghaus.com the assistance of Peddinghaus’ world class service center in Bradley, Illinois is just a few clicks away. The CNC control on the machine must be a Siemens based 840D or Di for remote assistance to connect directly to the control panel.

HOW WILL THIS BENEFIT ME? Remote diagnostics will deliver the expertise of the Peddinghaus service staff instantaneously to your computer or CNC control station. Frequently fabricators eliminate the need for a costly and time consuming field service visit, while expediting the diagnosis of a question using this technology.

HOW DOES IT WORK? Customers having issues with their machine would first call the Peddinghaus customer service help line at 815-937-3800. Once you are directed to an available customer service technician they will attempt to verbally diagnose the issue. If this cannot be done or explained over the phone the technician will direct you to www.peddinghaus.com where you will hover over the “Service” link in the upper right hand corner of the homepage and select “Remote Assistance” from the drop down menu.

Not in today’s modern world of computer technology! Peddinghaus has found a way to apply today’s remote assistance software to the machinetool arena in order to better serve customers and reduce potential machine downtime.

WHAT ARE REMOTE DIAGNOSTICS? Remote diagnostic software is a modern platform that allows someone at an outside location to view a computer or CNC control's activity remotely, while also being able to control all aspects of the unit in question. When applied by Peddinghaus’ customer service department this allows them to see operator screens or programmer stations, and further allows them to solve issues, or diagnose problems.

How effective is it? 95% of telephone calls received by Peddinghaus Corporation in regard to service, or maintenance issues are resolved over the phone with the help of remote diagnostic equipment.

“I had a customer from the Southern United States, on the phone with a coper problem. I got on line after the second call they had made and found that they did not have “automatic” checked in the options page for the cutting device miter section. This cleared their problem with no further assistance, and they got right back to running production as if nothing ever happened!”

•We can diagnose a problem with Peddimat… and directly transfer files to the control if needed.

•We can diagnose some issues with the machine by looking directly at the Step 7 PLC logic.

By remotely connecting to the machine, we can be an extra set of eyes monitoring the control, while on the phone with the customer who is making adjustments to the machine. I don’t know what people ever did without it!”

“Using remote assistance will decrease overall production down time due to maintenance issues because it allows us to truly understand what a customer is trying to explain to us over the phone. They say a picture tells a thousand words… Remote assistance wrote the book on fast reaction times.”

Our state-of-the-art Service Center continues to grow in order to serve you even better and is staffed with people you should “get to know”.

Dale Angell has worked with Peddinghaus Corporation over the last 2-1/2 years as an inside service technician – but before Peddinghaus his experience had included over 20 years of international field service work for industrial equipment that was involved with automated food packaging and handling industry. This included extensive work in the electro-mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC and CNC controlled areas.

Speaking to his experiences at Peddinghaus thus far Dale states “I can remember many times where finding a solution over the phone has resulted in eliminating the need for a technician to visit. In cases where we do need someone to visit we consistently go out of the way to make it happen. I can remember a time where a customer was having wiring issues on an older machine – I was on the phone with them in the AM, traveled to their shop in the afternoon, and by the end of the day we had their machine back up and running again. We go the distance for our customers.”

John “Chip” Moore

John “Chip” Moore has spent over 5 years with Peddinghaus corporation in a service technician capacity.

His previous education and work experience totals over 10 years of machine design, production, and service. A self proclaimed “Tinkerer”, Chip has proven to be a valuable part of the Peddinghaus inside service team.

“Peddinghaus has always gone out of its way to make every customer feel like they are our #1 priority. There have been a few times that one of the employees (technician, engineer, etc…) has been working with a customer on the phone all day and flown to their location that same night to be there for the next morning to take care of an issue.

Often to fly back home the same evening and be ready for more the next day.”

John Schilling

John Schilling, one of Peddinghaus’ most veteran employees talks modestly about his 30+ years in the organization. Joined by his brothers Carl (Electrical Engineering – 35+ years with Peddinghaus), and Steve (Stockroom Manager – 27+ years with Peddinghaus) the Schilling brothers have always been considered true Peddinghaus experts.

“I have always worked at Peddinghaus in a service position and have become the ‘go-to’ guy when it comes to issues on older models as well as certain ‘head scratchers’ on new machines. My famous file cabinet of service documents has become an important resource for the department. I have kept track of many unique issues over the last 30 years at Peddinghaus and we have it all on record for future use! If you have an issue or question on a machine we have probably seen it before!”

Donny Mullin

Donny Mullin is one of the up and coming Service and Support technicians that represent the future of Peddinghaus. Donny has spent the last 5 years working his way through the ranks from the bottom up at Peddinghaus. Donny started from the very ground level in our assembly department where he learned every inch of how a Peddinghaus machine works. After multiple Peddinghaus certifications, and now in the process of finishing his Bachelor’s Degree Donny has moved into the Service department and has become an integral part of the inside service team.

Dan Beatty

Dan Beatty is one of the many inside service technicians who have enjoyed a long career on the road interacting with customers on a daily basis. His 22 years with Peddinghaus include 15 years as a field service technician, and his expertise is evident in the services he provides as an inside service tech.

“My experience in the field and as a military electrician have given me the knowledge I use to help customers every day.

It’s always gratifying to be able to fix a service question before having to send an outside service technician for a visit.

Troubleshooting has always been one of my favorite things to do and in my spare time I even work to restore classic cars!

I just like working with machines, and figuring things out.”

Joshua Llorens

Josh Llorens brings his 4 years experience to Peddinghaus’ customer service department in conjunction with his education in mechanical engineering, and background working with Locomotives. Josh worked his way up through the ranks at Peddinghaus, from the assembly department and stockroom setting. After multiple years working in the plate machine assembly group Josh found himself moving to service and viewing the mechanics of Peddinghaus machines in an all new light.

“I always enjoy working on a new project; recently I was trained on one of our newer machines the AFCPS-833/A Revolution Anglemaster. There are few things more gratifying than learning the new equipment – the only thing that can rival that feeling is helping a customer when they need it. There are occasions where we all have been on a call, online or onsite when a machine is down and there is multiple tons of steel outside waiting to be processed. When these situations come up you just have to step it up a notch and get the job done. I always enjoy the challenge.”

Dave DeCarlo

Dave DeCarlo has been with Peddinghaus for over 21 years and proudly touts over 10 years of Field Service experience. His knack for equipment both new and old and desire for working with customers has made him one of our most respected veteran inside service technicians.

“Every day we come to work with the goal in mind that we will fix problems, and save fabricators money. You need that when you work in service, you’re not just a warm body to guess at solutions when there’s a problem, it’s all about results, and you need to know your stuff to be a part of Peddinghaus’ service team.”

Ed Drzeweicki

Ed Drzeweicki offers a wide array of knowledge to Peddinghaus customers in a number of situations. His unique background in mechanics began the United States Air Force where he was an airplane mechanic for over 20 years.

Ed came into machinery with large metal forming presses and was brought to Peddinghaus through a family connection over 14 years ago.

Ed claims that Peddinghaus service always does what is required to get the job done right: “One particular installation I did as a field service technician had eight technicians – four from PC U.S.A., two from PC UK, and two from PFP in Germany installing 4 machines, over 400 feet of conveyors and 22 transfers in 30 days without the use of overhead cranes. We do what we have to do to make sure our customers are up and running!”

Gerald Howard

Gerald Howard is a fairly new addition to the Peddinghaus service department with 2 years on the line here in Bradley. Before Peddinghaus Gerald worked for 30 years in Detroit’s automotive industry. Gerald speaks to his life experiences by stating that “The CNC based machine tools I have worked with in the past have been close tolerance machines where the positioning accuracy required was within or less than .0001 [.0025 mm]. I began working on the automotive industry’s machinery, in a professional capacity, after graduating from the US Naval Nuclear Power School. Because of the recent economic downturn, I saw no future for myself or my family in the Detroit area. I moved my family to the Bradley area after being offered a position in inside service.”

“It has been the one of the best decisions I have made. Peddinghaus is a wonderful company to work for. They have a superior talent pool within the inside service department and are constantly updating and sharing information with one another.”

Terry Irps

Terry Irps is another Peddinghaus veteran with over 26 years within the organization. His background throughout the industry of structural fabrication has helped customers in all corners of the world. And his stories from when he was on the road for Peddinghaus say it all: “Once I was doing an install at a customer in Southern Ireland, when our sales team in Northern Ireland phoned and asked if I could travel to look a machine for his customer who was having some maintenance issues. He picked me up at the airport at 5:00 pm, we drove 7 hours to the fabricator who met us at the door at midnight. I was able to get his machine repaired within 30 minutes and was back on the airplane to be at my install at 8:00 am the next morning. The customer in Northern Ireland was very grateful he was able to make his product delivery on time.”

Peddinghaus Participates in 2010 Tekla North American User Meeting In today’s modern world software is playing a more central role in the industrial engine that is structural steel fabrication. When it comes to BIM modeling, Tekla Structures users gather annually to share their successes realized by employing modern software which expedites processes and enhances design efficiencies. Adnexus will eliminate conversion errors and the need for personnel to check accuracy of imported parts before sending information to a Peddinghaus machine.

Peddinghaus Stands Out at Biemh Exhibition, Bilboa, Spain Peddinghaus Corporation played a dominant role in exhibiting new technologies at the recent Biemh Exhibition in Bilboa, Spain. The stand featured the new Advantage 2 high speed carbide drill with tool changer, a new DG 1100 miter band saw, the newly designed Peddimaster and Peddimax universal ironworkers with gauging table and automated infeed systems.

The all new Peddinghaus Advantage 2 drill line is the carbide evolution of an industry changing innovation. The Advantage 2 enhances the Peddinghaus line up of drill lines by introducing a combination of established and new features including: • Optional 5 station tool changers with carbide tooling • Servo driven spindle axes • Second generation roller measurement • Micro mist lubrication and many more technologically advanced solutions for high speed drilling.
