OUT & ABOUT IN THE HEART

PEARLAND

Barbara Mercer and Dale Pillow enjoyed a Sunday afternoon by playing Bunco with dozens of other ladies for the annual Bunco event hosted by the Women in Leadership Society of Pearland.

Dawson High School’s Lauren Hubbard recently won a $7,500 Dr. Pepper scholarship by creating a video that included a Dr. Pepper bottle along with her career goals. As one of five finalists in the competition, Lauren traveled to North Carolina for the finalist competition at the ACC Championship Bowl, where each student threw footballs from five yards away into an eightfoot Dr. Pepper can. Although Hubbard did not win the finalist competition, the scholarship committee tripled her award because judges were impressed with her video, which showcases her work with the DHS Eagle Television program and her dreams of becoming a news anchor. Professional Women Business Club held its social at Panera Bread Company this past January. On hand were Mary Margaret Eberhart, Kirra Randolph, Kristin Novilla, Patrice Thurston, Susan Chapman, Renita Scroggins, Sally Mercer, Vickie Elizardo and Mary Yost.

Mardi Gras: Bunco on the Bayou was the theme for Women in Leadership Society’s January 20th Bunco event. These women spared no expense to get into the spirit. Contest winners were Robbie Crump, Yvonne Guy, Carole Durham, Sandi Miller, Julia Rhodes, Sarah Deterling, Mindy Jo James and Terri Turbeville.
