Your impact PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center Foundation on Women’s and Children’s Services at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center Exceptional Care Close To Home

Thank

you for your support

Some people make choices that change lives. Thank you for being one of them by supporting the ongoing work at PeaceHealth Southwest Women’s and Children’s Services. Your generosity is one of the principal reasons that PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center was named Best Maternity Hospital by Newsweek Magazine in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

You helped build our beautiful Holtzman Twins NICU and numerous programs that support our most vulnerable babies and their families. Many of our patients and families need assistance at a very challenging time in their lives. Please know that your thoughtful acts of giving will make a difference in the lives of many women and children in our community. A heartfelt thank you for making all of this possible.

With deepest gratitude, Barbara

The Power of Philanthropy at the Holtzman Twins NICU

The Holtzman Twins Special Care Nursery, housed within PeaceHealth Southwest’s Family Birth Center, is designed to keep mom and baby close by offering private rooms with sleeping accommodations, so parents can be near their baby at all times. The beautiful facility was built with the help of donors like you, and now your generosity plays an important role in sustaining and improving the NICU.

Recently, your gifts have made it possible to:

 Purchase new recliners to help promote parent/infant holding, which we call Kangaroo Care. The NICU will be holding a Kangaroo-a-thon later in 2023.

 Remodel and upgrade the NICU Family Kitchen. Special thanks to local businesses and Union High School for their support through the annual Misster Union pageant.

 Provide music therapy to help with pain management, facilitate feedings and stabilize vital signs.

All of these philanthropic initiatives are improving care for the littlest among us, and making life a bit easier for families dealing with the daily stress of having a child in the NICU. Thank you!

One of our nurses, Laura, expressed her gratitude by saying, “Thank you for the update and warm touches to the Lactation Lounge. I used this space two years ago with my son, and it is so much more welcoming now as I pump for my daughter. I love my kids and love my job, and really appreciate a space where I feel supported in both of these roles. Thank you again!”

Holtzman Twins NICU Graduate Assessment Program

In 2021, Felipe was born at PeaceHealth Southwest at just 29 weeks gestational age. When he was released after 3 months in the NICU, a health issue left him at risk for delay in his motor skill development.

Felipe was placed in our donor-funded NICU Graduate Assessment program, which provides development screening, guidance, and access to resources and services that help ensure the best possible long-term outcomes for premie babies.

Now age 2, Felipe is a sweet, playful toddler who is walking, running and balancing well. He goes to physical therapy every week to continue working on his gross motor skills, and is working with a Head Start program to develop his language skills. Felipe’s great progress is due to his mother’s devotion, ongoing Spanish-based communications from our team, and the generosity of community members like you.

I will never finish thanking each one of the nurses for taking care of my son. Blessings to you, our family is very grateful to all of you.
