Feeling Flushed

We know it’s not the most pleasant of topics, but we need to remind residents not to dispose of anything other than human waste and toilet paper in their toilets, and only water down their sinks.

We’ve had problems in some blocks where residents have attempted to flush items such as nappies, cooking fat and cleaning wipes, and this has caused blockages within the plumbing system.

Please be mindful that items like fat and candle wax may look liquid, but will become solid when they cool, leading to blocked sinks and loos!

New Health Centre on the way

NHS Property Services will soon start work to build the Health Centre in the large commercial unit under the podium between Matkin Mansions and Billington Mansions.

They will be providing a health centre which will primarily provide GP services. A contractor called Vinci has been appointed to do the work.

The work is expected to last a year, and will start in January although the contractor will start preparation work before then. This preparation work will involve setting up work facilities inside the unit and setting up hoarded areas on the estate for deliveries and waste removal.

We have met with their team and set our expectations in regards to disruption on site, including how deliveries are managed.

In terms of working hours, Vinci have advised that they expect to only work Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm. As work progresses, there is the possibility that some Saturday working might be needed, but we will let you know if this is the case.

We will work with NHS and Vinci to keep disruption to a minimum but there is likely to be some noise.

There will be two hoarded areas on the estateOne in front of the health centre between the main entrance door to Matkin Mansions and the first of the parking bays outside the Health Centre (contractors will access via the main doors), and a second outside the bin store to Matkin Mansions. Then contractor may also need to use the area behind Arden Mansions for deliveries occasionally but they will not set up a permanent exclusion zone in this area.

What this means for you:

If you use the large cycle store outside Matkin Mansions this will be closed and partially dismantled while the works are taking place The small cycle store next to the bin store will remain useable and we can provide temporary access to the cycle store outside Simper Mansions if you come to the concierge and request this Please ensure you move your bikes before

Thursday 2 January.

There will be no parking allowed outside the NHS health centre unless you have been allocated the parking space, unless you have permission to park in that space you will be given a ticket if you do park there. The site will remain a place where you will get a parking ticket if you do not park in a parking bay and have a permit to do so.

If you have any concerns about the work that is taking place you can speak to us or members of the Vinci team. Contact numbers will be displayed on a site notice board.

The red lines in this diagram show the site of the hoardings outside Matkin Mansions
