BayTV breaks new ground LIZEKA TANDWA
L
OCAL community station BAY-TV have broken new ground as they announced the launch of their Final Control Centre (FCC) which will see the station going live and on the ground on all local events and breaking news across the Metro on its DStv channel 260. At the launch of the FCC, Channel Manager Lungile Nduvane said the station crossed over from FCC control at Urbanbrew studios to its own FCC at 2pm on Thursday, August 28, which was established with the help of Multichoice. According to the Post Production and FCC Unit Manager, Lizo Tolom, “FCC is a playout centre, which means we will be playlisting our own shows and ingesting our own shows and broadcasting them from Port Elizabeth to the nation.” Nduvane said with their new cen-
tre they will also be able to broadcast international, local and national sport that take place in the city including Ironman and the Bellbuoy challenge. “We want to also broaden our viewership to the Afrikaans audience. We are speaking to local production companies to come up with ideas where we can be able to also tell stories from the Afrikaans community in both the northern and western surbubs. We are glad to also dispel rumours which circulated earlier in the year that Bay-TV was closing down. This is a culmination of the hard work and efforts by the staff, board members and our partners and Multichoice,” said Nduvane. Multichoice said to further their partnership with the station they would also be assisting the station with technical assistance to do inserts and content.
