for the long days and short years
The Portland area’s most trusted parenting resource. Locally owned and operated—PDX Parent is by local parents for local parents.
PDX Parent is for parents by parents. No other publication in the Portland-metro area covers the issues that matter to local families the way PDX Parent does. Our attention is always on local topics and their impact on parents in our community. Our editorial staff and freelance writers and photographers know the area inside and out because we all are raising children in the Pacific Northwest. And we care about all members of our community.
As parents we know firsthand how much a resource like this helps with the long days and short years of parenting. It is our goal to provide Portland-area families with everything they need to know about the people, places and spaces that make our area the best place for families. We hope you will join us in this mission.
While we also remain the best source for ideas for family fun, we also take in-depth looks at housing, education and health; the need for child care that works for working parents; and more to make sure that we can all move toward having a community that truly supports every single family in it. —

By local parents, for local parents — PDX Parent publishes 11 issues a year. Busy parents rely on us for everything from the best in summer camps to practical advice on schools, health and where to have fun in the Pacific Northwest. We cover it all from babyhood to tweendom, and you can find us all over the Portland metro area.
Our front-of-book section covers a range of topics with short, easy-to-read articles on kids doing great things, family getaways, gear must-haves, book recommendations and much more.
This column features a first-person account of an outing with kids. From exploring the best spots for rock hunting to trying to unlock the clues in an escape room, this column tells parents what they need to know before heading out on a new adventure with their kids. Our readers appreciate the new outing presented each month.
Parents appreciate our easy, step-by-step art, craft, gardening or science projects that keep little hands busy.
Our monthly restaurant review goes beyond what is on the menu to mention familyfriendly accommodations such as diaper-changing stations and high chairs. And we get kid opinions on the food, too!

“In an era where many marketers think that print advertising is dead, I dare them to give PDX Parent a chance. Through their digital (and yes … print) materials, we have continuously attracted new families to our shows and our classes. On top of being effective, their team is also generous and kind, helping us raise awareness of our virtual programming during a time when the pandemic has
our options. If local families are crucial to your business, I can’t recommend PDX Parent enough.” — Michael Hammerstrom Director of Marketing & Development, Oregon Children’s Theatre
