Welcome to the 1st Annual TRI-N Charolais Farms and Guests Bull Sale After consigning to the Cattleman’s Classic Bull Sale for many years, our herd has expanded to the point that we ventured out to establish our own Charolais bull sale. Once again we would like to welcome the Doetzel and Ginter families with their Angus bulls. Great people with great cattle! This year we celebrated our 30th Anniversary in the Charolais business which makes us very proud considering the average lifespan of a purebred breeder is 7 years. We have seen many changes along the way from selling private treaty, to consigning in the Douglas/Yellowhead/ Roblin test stations, to consigning in the Cattleman’s Classic to finally hosting our own bull sale. Throughout the years we have had many high gainers and sellers in each respective sale. The one thing we have enjoyed the most in the last 30 years is the people. From the pioneer, with his wisdom, to the young man, who is setting out to change the breed. We have enjoyed listening to them all and have made several lifelong friends because of it. As we look at our bull pen, we are very proud of what we have to offer. Our bulls offer calving ease, performance, structural soundness, quiet dispositions… in a red, white or tan package. One thing we hope you appreciate is a large majority of our purebred herdsires start their breeding careers in our large commercial herd regardless to the price we paid for the bull. By doing this it allows us to see how our genetics work in our cross breeding program. Questions answered.. calving ease, vigor, colour patterns, bull libido and most importantly buyer demand. These traits are all highly inheritable and easily measured in a no nonsense environment. We welcome you to our first annual bull sale. You are welcome to stop by the farm anytime for a coffee and we would love to show you the bulls. The cattle business is our business and everyone is included. Thanks, The Nykoliations

Welcome to the 1st Tri-N and Guests Bull Sale. This isn’t the first sale for the Nykoliations by a long stretch but they have built up their numbers and their program to where they have enough numbers to be the main contributor in offering a quality set of bulls to a sale. This program has been evolving for 30 years and the quality of the white, tan and dark red cattle is worth the trip. Tri-N have developed a reputation for producing solid breeding cattle in both Canada and the U.S.A. with the genetics going on and working for their customers. The Agribition Champion MVY X-plorer turned out to be a heifer bull extraordinary with rave reviews from any who used this bull marketed by Genex. They kept a great homozygous red son of the Pro-Char Cptn Morgan, whom they purchased as a mature bull, Tri-N Captain Morgan, who has some of the best red bulls available this spring. Calving ease, soundness, hair, there is something for everyone here. As an added bonus they DNA tested for homozygous red and polled on some of the bulls. Also consigning this year is Nu-Horizon Angus who were involved in the Cattlemen’s Classic sale previously. They have offered up a very good selection of black and red Angus yearling bulls with solid pedigrees and type to work for the buyer. As well the BASKM Angus operation have besides a high quality yearling, some older age black bulls which will go out and cover extra cows if that is what you need. Mark April 2nd on your calendar and come see us at Virden. If Candace or I can be of any assistance before the sale or on sale day, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. We would be happy to find you a bull that is right for your program and make your bull buying experience a pleasant one. Sincerely, Helge & Candace By • By Livestock • 306.584.7937 cell 306.536.4261

dNA testing We decided to test a select few for homozygous polled and red. Results are in the catalogue. Bulls that are homozygous red non diluters mean that they will only throw red or black on black cows (No greys). Other bulls in this sale may or may not carry these genes as they were not tested.

Calving ease As dead calves don’t grow or make you money, we have paid strict attention to birth weight, calving ease and vigor. Any calves born over 110 lb. or have poor vigor are castrated – no questions asked! All our walking herdbulls are trait leaders for calving ease and birth weight. We won’t sell you a bull we wouldn’t use in our own commercial herd

Credit Card Purchases Purchases may be made on Visa or Mastercard. A 3% surcharge will be applied.

If you are able to bring your trailer sale day, we will deduct $50 from the purchase price of your bull. We can deliver your bull for $100 for up to 200 km. Anything over that at cost. We will work with you for further destinations.

TRI-N CAPTAIN MORGAN 340A 2014 Canadian National Reserve Junior Champion Bull. A bull we are extremely proud to of raised. As we owned the sire and raised his mother we knew he was going to be great! Captain Morgan holds the record on our farm for the highest weaning weight ever recorded here (1060 lb. on October 1). As a yearling many prospective buyers came to purchase him with the question, “Is he in the sale?” Our answer was simple “NOPE!” What a great decision we made! Captain Morgan stamps his calves by all being polled and red and having his extreme depth of body and his “kitty cat” temperament. EPD are in the top 15% for calving ease, top 3% for BW, top 2% or WW, YW and TM. Full brother NMF 418B

Testimonial

“We have purchased numerous bulls and females from Tri-N Charolais over the past few years (all sight unseen). Merv and Jesse are both great to work with. They truly know about their cattle and were able to help us find exactly what we wanted. The cows we have purchased have had great udders with good milk supply. They have strong maternal instincts, and they have raised good calves. The bulls we have purchased have sired calves with good growth and performance with calving ease. We would definitely buy again!”

Dam was purchased at the Perrot Martin dispersal and is a full sister to KCM Prowler, which sold to McLeod Livestock and Kay R. Prowler sired many high sellers and show winners throughout Canada. A bull you don’t want to miss! EPD top 4% for BW, 2% for CE.

Testimonial

“Adding the Red Factor Charolais to our Red Angus based herd has increased the vigor and growth of our calf crops without giving up calving ease. These calves come out sleek and long bodied and they don't lay around to die. By the time you get the tag written out they are up and sucking. We have been very satistfied with Merv’s and Jesse's bulls, as they are sound footed and good breeders. They also have very quiet dispostions and are always easy to work with.”

“In the past we have purchased herdbulls for our commercial cattle and heifers for our purebred herd. These bulls have consistently given us cows with good feet and udders. Here on our farm we raise calves for backgrounding, so they must have the EPD to calve easy, wean, and gain hard. Tri-N genetics have done this for us and the animals are fitting well into our herd. Hospitality and coffee is always on and they make you feel right at home when you go for a visit.”

Tri-N Charolais & Guests 27 1st Annual Bull Sale

It is our pleasure to welcome everyone to the 1st Annual Tri-N Charolais Farms & Guests Bull Sale. We would like to take this time to thank Merv Nykoliation and family, for letting us co-sign another strong group of Angus Bulls to the sale. Our Family has been in the cattle business for over 15 years with a commercial Black Angus herd. Over the years we have been acquiring groups of Purebred Black Angus Females from some very well respected Angus Breeders. Our goal is to raise low birth weight, performance packed, functional Purebred Seed Stock that the commercial cattlemen demand. And in doing so we have attained a solid Purebred Angus herd of 30 females, with another 50 commercial cows as well. We hold our purebred cows to the same standard as our commercial herd. We look for trouble free, functional cattle; cattle that can take care of themselves out on pasture, or when bale grazing in the winter, and we expect these cattle to perform. We also seek cows that have excellent structure, with a solid foot under them, and also those good maternal traits like mothering ability, and picture perfect udders. We calve in April and May and have just started selling two year old bulls. We feel that selling two year old bulls is an advantage for us and our customers because they can expect these bulls are going to go out and breed a lot of cows and not go downhill. These bulls are weaned at the end of December and go onto hay and straight oat ration where they are meant to grow. Then they go out to pasture and graze all summer long, and come back in the fall and are put back on an oat ration. These bulls are meant to last a long time and we feel our customers will see that satisfaction in purchasing two year old bulls. The bulls we have on offer this year are all exceptional herdsire prospects, with low birth weights and performance behind them. We have on offer 1 yearling, and 2 two year old Black Angus bulls, along with an Angus cross Hereford F1 Hybrid bull. Brad, Antonia & Matthew Ginter If you have any questions about our offering, please feel free to call or stop in any time for a visit! Riding Mountain, MB We look forward to seeing you sale day.
