we all need a little TLC sometimes....

We cannot believe that we are already nearing the end, with this next summit being the second to last summit for the year! It has been a busy year, and April has been no exception, with April Fools, Passover, Good Friday, Easter, and Tax Day... but April is also Stress Awareness Month. It made us think about the role of stress in our everyday life.

While there are so many negative ramifications of acute or chronic stress (especially when coupled with threat or fear), a little good stress can also be positive for us. It can help motivate, energize, and keep us alert, and it is one of the biggest drivers of our overall success and happiness!

But as human beings, we are bound to experience both kinds of stress through our jobs, life, and health challenges, so learning how to manage it is crucial!

Take a new approach - a new perspective will shift your inner narrative, which in turn shifts your stress responses.

Burn off tension with a regular physical activity that you enjoy! Note the important emphasis on enjoy - It will feed you.

A Special Health Report from Harvard Medical School suggests the following three strategies to help manage stress: 1. 2. 3.

We all like to feel efficient so get everything in order and create systems that will help you get (and stay) organized!

One thing that was not on Harvard's list but that we think is also important, is to ensure you get some quality time doing something that refuels you - that could mean catching up with friends, reading a book, soaking in a bath, jamming out to your favorite TLC hit, or coming along to this month's virtual summit! See you there!

Love from

whatdoesTLCmean foryou?

TLC can stand for many different things from Transitional Learning Center to Technology LifeCycle, Travel, and Living Channel, or Tender Love and Care. Alternatively, if you were around in the height of the '90s, you may recall the four-time Grammy Award-winning Atlantabased girl group behind smash-hits like Waterfalls, No Scrubs, Creep, and Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg. Well, we are thrilled to be able to sit down with Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins for our next summit (you guessed it - she is the "T" of TLCthe "L" was for Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes (19712002), and the "C" was for Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas FYI).

T-Boz has had to face so many adversities in life, including a painful sickle cell anemia diagnosis, which has seen her in and out of hospital since she was a child, a car crash that killed her friend and band-mate Lisa Lopes in 2002, a three-year battle with a potentially fatal brain tumor, a divorce, and bad record and management deals that led to not one but two bankruptcies. But she has always managed to keep a positive forward-facing perspective. We are looking forward to hearing more about what she has learned so far, how she maintains balance in such a busy and chaotic world and the role of music in her life!

Everything happens the way it's supposed to ... you evolve and grow and learn.

- Tionne "TBoz" Watkins (TLC)

Thingsto thinkabout

We all have different likes and dislikes, so it comes as no surprise that we will all need different things to refuel us. Take a moment to think about what refuels you, using the following reflective questions:

What are some of your favorite feel-good songs?

What are some of your favorite, most indulgent foods?

What is your favorite physical activity?

What authors, podcasters or artists etc inspire you the most?

What friends make you feel most refueled when you see them?

What is your favorite thing to do by yourself?

Now think about what time commitment each of these things requires from you? Organize them into what can you do: In a weekend In a day In 2 or 3 hours In 20 minutes In 5 minutes or less?

Get started by choosing at least one favorite thing from your list every day, and purposefully indulge in it - even if just for 5 minutes!

And take note of how it made you feel and why, and keep adjusting your list so that it really features only your true favorites!

Life is not a straight line, often it feels more like a maze that we struggle through. But since Harvard Medical School is advising us to "take a new approach", why not try to see how amaze-ingly fun they can be?

Q: Why were there blankets all over the instruments in the band?

A: They were practicing to be a cover band.

Q: What T.V. Channel will never air the sitcom Scrubs?

A: TLC; Because, they don't want, no scrubs.
