GRAND COUNCIL - THE ULTIMATE FRATERNAL EXPERIENCE Executive Director Kenny Walkup (Alpha Upsilon) execdir@phideltachi.org Grand Council is the ultimate fraternal experience for so many reasons. You will have the opportunity to meet Brothers from around the country who will quickly become friends. You will learn valuable tools that will enhance you as a leader, your chapter and your school. You will take an active part in the shaping of our fraternity through the policy development topics. You will also decide the leadership of our fraternity for the next two years. A call for candidates for national offices went out two months ago. Candidates

for national offices may, but are not required to, announce their candidacy before the meeting. We will post the candidate bios on the PDC web site on the Grand Council page. We will continue to update that page as the candidate bios come in. For those not familiar with the process of running for a national office here is the synopsis. Candidates are required to submit an application for office at the end of the first business session. They are then interviewed by the nomination committee. Each candidate will have

time to explain their position on issues and what their goals are for the offices at the open candidate review on Thursday morning. At the Friday business session the nomination committee will slate their candidates. At that time nominees are accepted from the floor. At Saturdays business session we elect the officers for the next biennium. If you have any questions about the process or Grand Council please call the National Office.

CANDIDATES RUNNING FOR NATIONAL OFFICE The following Brothers have announced their candidacy for the Executive Council of Phi Delta Chi. They will be running for National Offices with a term from Grand Council 2013 to Grand Council 2015. You will learn more about their vision and planned direction of their offices at the Open Candidate Review on Thursday morning at Grand Council. As explained in the Kenny’s article above, Brothers can still announce their candidacy and we will update the Grand Council webpage as they send in their bios. Next month’s e-Communicator will highlight those who turn in their bios between now and then. For the office of Grand President: • Amy Valdez, Beta Iota (current Grand President) For the office of Grand Vice President for Alumni Affairs: • Traci Thompson, Lambda (current SCRDAA) • Abimbola Farinde, Beta Omicron For the office of Vice President for Collegaite Affairs • Lexie Turner, Alpha Iota (current GVPCA) For the office of Grand Vice President for Communication • Ryan Costantino, Eta (current GVPSA) For the office of Grand Vice President for Student Affairs: • John Mondin, Epsilon (current NERC)

PROJECT DIRECTOR FOR COLLEGIATE EXPANSION Grand Vice President for Collegiate Affairs Lexie Turner (Alpha Iota) gvpca@phideltachi.org I would like to take the opportunity to let you know about a position opening in the Collegiate Affairs Office. Briann Williams (Psi) serves the Fraternity as Project Director for Collegiate Expansion. She has done an incredible job working with our new chapters and colonies since her appointment by Grand President Valdez last fall. She unfortunately will not be able to serve another term and we wish her all the best as she works toward completing her PGY1 residency at St. Louis Veterans Affairs in Acute and Ambulatory Care. A little about the job The Project Director of Collegiate Expansion is an expert in Collegiate Chapter Chartering & Reactivation. The Project Director collaborates with the GVPCA to complete the steps of the chartering process. Some assigned tasks may include collecting information about the pharmacy school/college, helping to recruit Advisors and Colony

Coordinators, communicating with Colony Coordinators as to the progress of the Colony, conducting followup interviews with newly chartered/ re-chartered chapters and directing them to the proper resources to meet their needs, assisting the GVPCA on visits to pharmacy schools/colleges to present our organization to students and faculty, and assisting at Activations/ Reactivations. Qualifications The Project Director for Collegiate Expansion is as a Student, Graduate or Alumnus Brother and good standing within the Fraternity. It is highly recommended that the individual be effective with time management and that accepting this position would not interfere with personal or professional obligations. Candidates should be well spoken and knowledgeable in collegiate chapter operations. It is preferable for the candidate to be familiar with

chapter chartering or have made commitment to become fluent in the process. How to apply I want to encourage interested candidates to submit a written application to the Executive Director and GVPCA for the EC’s review. Please feel free to contact Breann or me if you have questions about the position or would like more information. PDCE@phideltachi.org GVPCA@phideltachi.org See you all in Omaha!
