Theatre Arts
Place des Arts offers a variety of stage and screen acting and performance classes for children and teens taught by highly skilled professionals in the field. From beginner classes to our performance training company, our programs help aspiring actors and triple threats build skills and develop performance confidence.
We offer classes running from September to June and during the fall, winter and spring sessions.

Private Lessons in Acting & Musical Theatre
We offer private lessons in musical theatre and stage acting to help improve technique, prepare for auditions and performances. Find out more by contacting us in person at the Registration Desk or by phone for fees and teacher availability.
Coquitlam Youth Theatre (CYT) Programs
Our CYT programs provide performance-based training for emerging theatre artists. Members will hone their skills in movement, voice and character development while rehearsing for performances. Fees can be paid in full or a payment plan (payable Sep 1 and Oct 1) is available with a valid credit card. Find out more on page 22.

Acting 101
5 - 12 years
Learn to act! Through improvisation, scene study and various drama exercises and games, you will discover how to express yourself freely and confidently. Develop your performance skills while exploring new acting techniques and styles. You will be challenged to think creatively and instinctively. Musical Theatre
3 - 14 years
Dance, sing and act in this lively class! Through games and exercises, you will be introduced to important terms and etiquette, character development, coordination and storytelling. Using popular musical theatre material and routines, combine your skills and find out what it takes to be a stage performer! 3 - 4 years**
On-Camera Acting
Through improvisation, scene study and various drama exercises and games, learn how to relax when acting on camera. You will learn specific acting techniques and develop skills for auditioning. Teacher: Simran Toor
Calling all young actors ages 9-17!
This season, we have three performancebased classes for students who want to learn in a pre-professional environment. Sign up for Coquitlam Youth Theatre, Coquitlam Youth Musical Theatre or Junior Coquitlam Youth Theatre and hone your craft as an actor. Find out more on page 22 of this guide.
Spontaneous Theatre
5 - 12 years
Develop the fundamentals of improv theatre! Build skills and practice techniques to gain confidence thinking on your feet. In this environment you will be encouraged to try, fail, win, laugh and learn. Learn new techniques and take turns presenting and being an audience. You will learn to work individually and as a group while honing listening, collaboration, communication and problemsolving skills. Junior Coquitlam Youth Theatre
9 - 12 years
Are you a keen young performer who wants to strengthen your craft? Join this class to work collaboratively with fellow students and learn about a variety of theatre and performance techniques with a focus on teamwork. Students will present two small performances (format and details will be shared closer to the performance dates). This class is a stepping-stone to becoming a member of the Coquitlam Youth Theatre. Be part of a performance-based youth theatre company, and work with professional theatre directors, master theatre artists and designers! This class will hone acting, singing and dancing skills in a collaborative environment. Students will present two performances throughout the season (format and details will be shared closer to the performance dates). At the discretion of the teacher, this class may perform in 1-3 public performances to SD43 schools. No previous experience is necessary. Teacher: Seamus Fera

Production Fees
A non-refundable production fee is payable in full at the time of enrolment. The production fee is used to offset the production costs (production designer, costumes, sets, props, venue rental, royalties and scripts, transportation for props, tech fees, designers) of the theatre performances.
