Perspectives on Peace: Self-reflection & Call to Action

Keynote Speaker Pledge for a peaceful summer

Student Documentaries

March

Our 10th Grade Peace Summit represents the culmination of a year-long journey exploring peace and social justice. Inspired by the student documentary that launched our I AM FOR PEACE movement over a decade ago, our 10th graders will create short-form documentaries (2-3 minutes), capturing their experiences as Chicago youth and what peace means in their lives Students can work independently or in small groups (groups must be approved by ADL teachers)

A pre-selected panel of judges will review all submissions and identify the top 10 films. At the Peace Summit, our entire school community will vote on their favorite, with the winner announced after community-wide voting.

Following the film showcase, we’ll hear from our keynote speaker. Then students, staff, and guests will proceed onto our track for a mini-peace march honoring our first Perspectives Peace March and reaffirming our commitment to a peaceful summer The field will feature community partners offering summer programs, educational opportunities, and employment because staying productive is key to staying peaceful.

The Peace Summit is more than an event; it's a space for reflection, self-expression, and a powerful call to action: We are the change we wish to see in the world. We are the creators of our destiny. I AM FOR PEACE!

A History of Empowering Chicago's Young Peacemakers

For 28 years, Perspectives Charter Schools has been more than just a school – it has been a movement Perspectives’ A Disciplined Life® education model has nurtured thousands of compassionate young leaders who understand their power to make real change.

Over ten years ago, three of those Perspectives students showed the world that young people can be powerful agents of change in the "I AM FOR PEACE" documentary https://pcsedu org/peace/

The film sparked one of Chicago's largest student-led peace marches

Please join us on May 15 to reflect on how we can honor that legacy and commit to being future agents for peace
