degree to the graduating students.

Total of 60 students graduated this year in BA (Hons) Business Administration and BSC (Hons) Computer Science and Software Engineering. More than 38 students were joined by friends and family to celebrate their success. All of these degrees are approved by Ministry of Education and recognized by Tribhuwan University.

Founded in 2017, PCPS College is one of the sister concerns of LBEF Group of Institutions which has 21 years of successful history and 8000+ alumni. PCPS College has been providing undergraduate courses in academic collaboration with University of Bedfordshire, a world ranked UK University.

FROM THE DESK OF EDITOR Dear Readers, On behalf of Patan College for Professional Studies (PCPS), Kathmandu, Nepal, it gives me immense pleasure to welcome you all on this quarter issue (Volumne3, Issue 1) of our newsletter the ‘PCPS Connect.’ I hope all of you are safe and healthy.

Concluding a very challenging year 2020, PCPS stood strong and continued with its sessions without any break, making students able to complete their courses on time.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all our existing and prospective students, staffs and well-wishers. Patan College for Professional Studies (PCPS) College, a constituent member of LBEF Group of Institutions strives to provide quality and on-time education from globally accredited UK based degree in Nepal. LBEF Group of Institutions has focused on quality education since its initiation. LBEF Campus is one of the pioneer and prominent teaching and research institution providing its service since 1998 and has over 8000 graduates signifying quality education and trust from the stakeholders.

This year has been very challenging to everyone and it hit really hard on education institution as well. However, our institution has been very responsible and consistent even in these challenging times and has not let students suffer due to time loss in their academic journey.

I feel very proud to say that our institution has been able to successfully conduct all the classes and examinations on time as pre-scheduled routine enabling timely graduation of all the students. We just completed our online classes and final University examination and are all set to begin our new academic session from June for BSC IT, BBA and Foundation programs on online mode. We are committed to develop industry ready professionals through our academic courses.

Our focus is to develop visionary and analytical skills in our students and prepare them for any unanticipated encounters.

PCPS has strived to bring about optimistic changes in the students to prepare them for a successful career in the corporate world.

I would like to express my appreciation to all the students, academic and non-academic staffs for their endurance and support during these challenging times and being very adaptive in any circumstances. Let’s move ahead with more enthusiasm to have a successful academic year 2021 with new aspirations, ideas and beliefs.

PCPS is devoted to develop business leaders and young technocrats by encouraging and supporting the talents by innovative practices. We are working towards developing our nation to be economically strong and technology driven by providing world class quality education to our IT and Business students who are our future leaders.

The new academic year of PCPS has geared up for the upcoming innovative activities for the all-round development of our students. The last year was full of challenges due to pandemic and lockdowns; however, we were able to conduct online classes on full wing with webinars and other online events. Our emphasis is to provide a complete environment that will lead to selfawareness among learners through innovative and collaborative learning. A number of academic and non-academic events were organized in the past year despite the pandemic.

This year we will be expanding our horizon to develop more opportunities to secure more intellectual skills in our students.

Several events took place in this quarter such as third Graduation Ceremony was conducted in presence of Chief Guest, Honourable Education Minister Mr. Krishna Gopal Shrestha, Ministry of Education, Science & Technology (Government of Nepal).

Several other events took place in this quarter such as Webinar Sessions, Business Boot Camp, St. Xaviers Fest, Fresher’s Party, Saraswati Puja, International Women Day celebration and Holi event.

We are looking forward to the upcoming new semester and many other events we have planned for the personality and professional development of the students. I am sure, the students, faculties and staffs will put their best foot forward to add more glories to the institution, society and nation.

EVENTS Business Bootcamp - Retail Management, Business Strategy and Competitor’s Analysis 17th January, 2021 having 3rd largest smartphone reputation globally. The company has largest consumer for IoT platform in the world.

The brand focused for marketing in Social Media, Launch Events and Mi Fans Community. The word-of-mouth marketing helped it a lot to rise in the market. In Nepal, the brand was launched in March 2016 with Mi 4 smart phone and has 90% of the social media details as organic with the consumers. The philosophy of Xiomi is best specs, high quality and honest pricing. The company manufactures the products on the basis of demand of the users rather than pushing them in the marketing without demand.

For retail management, they cover the major retailers with good sales. Branding is done area wise for retail. In some of the stores, the person from the company directly comes to promote the products by convincing the customers, discuss with them, take feedback and take the details back for further improvement.

He focused on ageing of the products too which was related to the resell value of the product. He also said that MIS also plays the role of providing proper information.

It contains every part of the operations related to all the products right from manufacturing to its life time.

he webinar was presented by Mr. Prateek Lalwani, a business development officer at Xaomi MI. Mr. Ajaya Kumar Sharma was the administrator while Mr. Saurav Satyal was the moderator of the webinar. Mr.

Lalwani handles daily operation and streamlines the sales and marketing. He focused about the young brand Xaomi.

He informed that Xaomi has a very young team working behind. Due to this, the brand is number 2 in the market

With a different strategy, for business and sales as compared to its competitors, Xaomi has been a top brand in terms of demands from the users and has been as popular as them. Finally, the webinar was concluded with answering various questions related to strategies from the students.

Business Bootcamp– Entrepreneurship in Digital Era 27th January, 2021

A

s a part of PCPS webinar, ‘Entrepreneurship in Ditital Era’ was presented by Mr. Amit Agrawal, Cofounder, Khalti. Ms. Shristy Bhattarai was the moderator of the webinar. The webinar was attended by staffs and students of PCPS college. Mr. Agrawal discussed on different aspect of how one can be a successful entrepreneur and how it is important to have satisfied stakeholders for successful operation.

He explained on how it is important to balance between demand and supply

with relevant examples that made it easier for the participants to understand the concept.

Along with the tricks and tips to be a good entrepreneur, Mr. Agrawal also gave some insightful information on how one can lead a good professional and personal life by giving up on the unhealthy lifestyle, giving up on toxic people and handling problems effectively. The session ended up with question and answer. Overall the session was very insightful and fruitful.

Fresher’s Party 2021 13th February, 2021

resher’s Party in any college is an event which every student eagerly awaits from the time of their admissions.

The 13th of February was marked as a memorable day in the life of every fresher’s of 2020/2021 batch at PCPS. The fresher’s

day was the day filled with joy, music, enthusiasm, laughter and happiness.

A total of 67 students put their hands together to revel in the party.

The theme of the party was Disco. The celebration started at 11:00 am at Drishya Lounge, New Baneshwor with the welcome address by Mr. Ayush Basnet Level 5 BSC who was the master of the ceremony. The party kicked off with the refreshment drinks. The program commenced with the welcome dance followed with ramp walk and introduction by freshers’ for the title of Mr. and Ms. Fresher’s. Mr. Deepak Kumar Karna, Program Leader; Ms. Arju Sitaula, student support and Ms. Manushi Khadka, Level 5 BSC were appointed as jury members The tile of Mr. Fresher 2021 was won

by Mr. Pravas Giri, BSC and Ms. Subi Bishwokarma, BSC was crowned as Miss Fresher’s 2021. The winners were sashed

The event also showcased dance performances, songs, beat boxing, confessions, paper dance and many other entertainments.

araswati Puja marks the worship and honour of Goddess Saraswati who resembles knowledge, truth and all forms of learning. It is one of the very auspicious and important days for every students and educational institutions. Saraswati puja was celebrated with enthusiasm in the premises of PCPS College in the presence of students, faculties and staffs.

Women’s Day Celebration 9th March, 2021

I

n PCPS, Women’s Day was formally celebrated on 9th March, 2021. All students and teachers had a small get together near the basketball court to celebrate and to know the importance of this day. Mr. Anup started the event with some historical facts and importance about this day, and why it is celebrated internationally. He confidently promoted the idea of creating a safe space for all beings irrespective of their gender and backgrounds as well. Then, Mr. Deepak Kumar Karna elegantly explained the importance of women in the society and shared how much joy he received from his family; which encouraged everyone to be kind to one another and always spread love. Ms. Manushi Khadka honoured the female staffs of PCPS. The female staff of PCPS college were felicitated with a token of appreciation in the form of a gift package, along with this, a picture of them in a group was framed and gifted as a reminder that power lies in unity.

as poems, music, etc. Ms. Anugraha Ghale delivered a short speech which highlighted the theme – ‘Perceive me as a human, before perceiving as a woman’. A beautiful poetry was delivered by Ms. Shikshya Malla whose core aligned with the theme; she ended her poem with an amazing quote and calmed all our souls with words.

Ms. Anugraha Ghale performed a song from the 60’s written by Chuck Berry, whose message resonated with the theme as well. Ms. Dipika Ranabhat performed a timeless Bollywood classic and engaged the audience with her soulful delivery.

The stage was set on fire when Mr. Sudip Kumar and Mr. Deepak Kumar Karna entered and they reminisced their good old days by singing old time songs which the students could relate to as well.

At the end, the clubs organized a small cake cutting refreshment party with everybody’s participation. The event concluded with a pledge that we all will contribute equally to take our society one step ahead and perceive everyone as human.

THE SAINT XAVIER’S FEST 12th March, 2021

f we teach today’s student as we taught yesterday’s, we rob them of tomorrow.

- John Dewey Back then was the time when untainted academic skills were enough to take one to top positions by quality of seniority. No need to upgrade the skills and expertise once learnt. But now, the scenario has been changed; the conventional method of teaching has become redundant and obsolete in the era where Gen- Z subsists.

So, as the taste & preference of Gen-Z has been changing thoroughly, to know their preference and to meet their expectation, PCPS had planned to organize different games for The Saint Xavier’s fest, accordingly.

The theme for the fest was Battlegrounds, for which the cutouts of PUBG was designed, and the purpose for these cutouts were to illustrate them that game is all about coding & computer engineering. So, the theme and purpose were apt for the Gen-Z to disseminate the technical know-how of The Mind Behind the Game & to be the next creative mind.

With overwhelming response and participation of the students from different schools across the valley, it marks the event success. The students from different schools not only participated and played

different games but also showed keen interest on IT relevant courses. Their quest for games & popularity of PUBG and Free Fire Character among youth and the game planned by PCPS certainly motivated the young to build their career in IT sector and pursue IT, Engineering & Management Degree from PCPS. From take a chance to hit the bull eye and turn the emotional wheel, the students played

HOLI CELEBRATION 26th March, 2021 Holi 2021 was celebrated with the theme ‘Yespali ko Khusi ko Rang, Hamro Sunaulo Sansar Sang.’ All the five ‘Student Clubs’ of PCPS college decided to celebrate the color of joy i.e. Holi with the children of Hamro Sunaulo Sansar (HSS) on 26th March 2021. Mr. Pankaj Jalan, Chairman, LBEF Group of Institutions was the chief guest for the event and he handed over token of love to Ms. Menuka Koirala, Chairperson, and Ms. Laxmi

The students, staffs and guests from HSS had a wonderful experience celebrating holi along with live music and performances from students, faculty and children of HSS. Students from the college had kept stalls of games and food for the purpose of raising funds for the children of HSS. The holi celebration ended up with everyone playing colours, dancing and enjoying the festival.

Also, by its introduction, several advantages and disadvantages have also come along. Some technologies are helping in the medical area, some in agriculture, and so on. However, in this article, we’ll talk about the latest technology that is making people amaze: Deepfake.

Color error in video or image 4. Unmatched lip-synching 5. Unnatural eyes blinking 6. Noise in image/video frames Actions/ affirmations for its mitigation 1. Google uses the ‘text to speech’ tool for authentication 2. Facebook has banned this kind of post sharing.

Apart from this, one of the important things is to make people educate about this technology so that they understand its fair use and its consequences of misuse.
