Ten Reasons to Choose ALTUSEN Enterprise Solutions Quality Engineering At ATEN we believe that a product is neither greater than its design nor better than the sum of its parts. For this reason, we employ engineers who are experts in their fields and provide them with an environment where they can thrive and give wings to their ideas. Furthermore, we carefully select and test every component before it goes into our ALTUSEN enterprise-class products. And we do not stop there. Throughout the design and production processes we continue testing to ensure that when you buy ALTUSEN enterprise-class products, you get the reliability and performance you demand.

ASIC Onboard The Application Specific Integrated Chip (ASIC) represents a new level in product reliability. By incorporating our own patented ASIC into each new design, we enhance the functionality and compatibility of ALTUSEN products. Moreover, our ASIC enables us to deliver unique product features at competitive costs to our customers while maintaining our high mark of quality.

Easy Installation Many ALTUSEN products provide a modular approach to network infrastructure management. Console modules are required to connect consoles (monitor, keyboard, and mouse) to KVM switches, and KVM adapter cables connect the KVM switches to servers. To help manage and arrange the cabling and installation, most KVM adapter cables are equipped with an adjustable buckle and mounting bracket. The adjustable buckle keeps everything neat and tidy, while the mounting bracket allows them to be fixed on the rack.

Detachable Front Panel Many ALTUSEN products have a unique, detachable front panel, enabling the product to perfectly fit in any rack depth. The front panel separates from the chassis for front-rack mounting, while the chassis can be mounted at the rear of the rack. This design provides the utmost convenience because it allows users easy access to both the front panel controls and rear panel connections. It also makes connecting computers to the switch a cinch.

Internal Power Supply Every ALTUSEN product features a built-in full range power supply – not a bulky external power adapter – so that it will not horde valuable power strip space. Standard IEC power inlets also allow quick and easy cable replacement if the original power cable is ever lost or misplaced.

Space-Saving Design ALTUSEN products are designed for real-world applications. Our engineers continually explore new ways to conserve rack space for our customers. One example is the Dual Rail LCD KVM Switch. It offers a space-saving, streamlined approach to KVM switch technology by integrating an LCD monitor, keyboard, and touchpad in a Dual Rail housing. The Dual Rail housing is slightly less than 1U high for easy installation and manipulation in 1U of rack space.

Firmware Updates In keeping with our commitment to ongoing product support, we provide firmware updates for our products. As firmware updates become available we place them on our website so that customers can easily download and install them at their convenience.

Rigorous Testing ALTUSEN products are rigorously tested to ensure that they meet our high-quality standards. At our state-of-the-art research and design center, prototype products are put through a battery of tests to eliminate problems. Such tests include, operating the switch for ten thousand continuous hours, operating at elevated (or lowered) temperature levels and increased humidity, horizontal and vertical vibration tests, and even robots that push the buttons thousands of times. To ensure product reliability, ALTUSEN products have received certificates of compliance with the following standards – CE, FCC, UL, TUV, PSE and ISTA 3A drop test.

New Levels of Accessibility Many ALTUSEN products offer unrivalled levels of administrator accessibility, including platform-independent, browser-based access via the Internet or LAN. Combining application-specific functionality with unbeatable flexibility, the ALTUSEN range provides IT administrators with the management tools for server rooms everywhere, both for now and in the future.

Exceptional Price Performance One final reason to choose ALTUSEN products is the exceptional performance they offer at considerably lower prices than the competition. Dollar for dollar, ALTUSEN enterprise-class products outperform the competition. Our knowhow and high-tech automated manufacturing process enable us to produce superior products. We believe an efficient solution is a great benefit to server room management, and providing the most economical and exceptional price performance solutions is one of our missions.

Banking and Finance In conjunction with the latest developments in the financial services industry, large numbers of banks and financial institutions are increasingly turning to IT systems in order to provide their clients with reliable, on line services, such as secure transactions, and sophisticated financial research and analysis tools. For a financial data center to go off line, even for a brief amount of time, would be disastrous. To ensure the highest degree of reliability and availability of the services provided by the data center, an extremely efficient and stable management solution, covering all server room IT equipment, must be deployed. No matter how many server rooms exist on your installation; no matter whether they are located centrally, at remote branch centers, or both; no matter whether they are legacy or newly established sites that have been deployed in response to business growth; there is an ALTUSEN solution to effectively meet your requirements. •

Remote Access – Total Control Remote BIOS-level access, remote power control, and remote serial management provide total control of your server room IT equipment. By associating a port on the KVM switch with a power outlet on a connected PDU, the power status of the device attached to the KVM port can be controlled from the switch's interface. The single interface point provides greater management convenience and efficiency by eliminating the need to open a second session to manage the PDU.

Save on Manpower and Maintenance Costs Being able to control all the servers from both the data center as well as remote locations allows fewer administrators to manage multiple server rooms from anywhere. Since they can conveniently manage the entire installation from their desktop, the need for multiple administrators to be on site is eliminated. Also eliminated is the inconvenience and expense involved in having them constantly traveling from site to site.

System Wide Dependability Customized settings for SNMP Trap notifications let administrators stay on top of all the significant events that take place on their systems, while remote management – including out of band serial connectivity – provides the ability to respond to mission-critical emergencies in a timely manner, to increase system availability and minimize downtime.

Banking and Finance

Centralized Management The CC2000 management software allows all the servers and other IT devices to be integrated into a single tree view for centralized access, administration and management. It consolidates the management of all ATEN/ALTUSEN IT devices through a single portal, single sign on, single IP address to securely access and control every device on the installation.

Secure Access Powerful security features include both internal and external authentication, strong password protection, IP filtering, MAC filtering, and flexible encryption technologies, prohibit unauthorized access and ensure secure data transmission.

Flexible Expansion Flexible expansion allows you to match your system management capability to your business growth. As your server installation grows, simply add additional switches to match the new number of servers in your current or new data centers.

Bank In order to provide reliable, secure, and responsive service to its customers, a bank needs to set up multiple server rooms to provide application and backup services for each other. For efficiency and economy, all the servers, in all the separate server rooms should be centrally managed from the primary server room. Deploying ALTUSEN KN2116A, CC2000, KH1516A and PN5212 equipment lets the IT staff working in the primary server room access, monitor, and control all the servers and other IT equipment in all of the server rooms – including power managing them – from that one central location. • Centralized management of multiple server rooms • Cascade KH1516A switches for flexible expansion • Remote power management

Manufacturing As a consequence of advances in IT usage, most equipment manufacturers have adopted modern, automated production technology to keep pace with the market demand. In addition to modern, automated, production lines, sophisticated manufacturing control systems have likewise been employed. Managing these systems efficiently and flexibly is essential to production results and reduced manufacturing costs. Quality control presents another critical challenge. To ensure the quality of the products being shipped, function testing is a key operation on the production line. Integrating test equipment and highefficiency management solutions to perform the various testing procedures can bring an enormous benefits to production management. To meet the demands of a wide variety of production environments and increase production line efficiency, ALTUSEN has developed a number of solutions that provide convenient, flexible, and efficient management of production control systems and quality testing operations. •

Remote Management ALTUSEN solutions give production line supervisors the ability to conduct real-time management and control of the manufacturing equipment from remote desktops just as if they were doing it right there on the production floor.

Complete Control ALTUEN solutions allow BIOS-level and OS-level access – giving test engineers complete control over production line systems from their remotely located workstations.

Simultaneous Monitoring Monitoring the status of each production stage from just a single monitor is easily accomplished when Panel Array Mode™ is invoked. Production line engineers can view the screen displays of up to 40 systems – each in its own panel – on their desktop monitors.

Manufacturing

Eliminates Distance Restrictions In large manufacturing facilities with equipment dispersed over the entire production floor, planning the design layout is complicated and troublesome because the numerous devices that need to undergo testing, traditionally can't be located too far away from each other. By using Cat 5e or Cat 6 cabling, together with distance extension features, ALTUSEN solutions eliminate the distance restrictions – providing convenient and flexible equipment deployment.

Efficient Collaboration In order to successfully complete their tasks, engineers may need to collaborate with each other – often when the physical layout of the factory makes it impossible for them to meet face-to-face. ALTUSEN solutions provide Access Modes that permit an engineer to share access to, and control over, a system with the collaborating engineers. To avoid conflicts and facilitate cooperation, a convenient Message Board function allows them to communicate with each other in real time.

Multi Platform Integration Due to the complexity of production management and testing procedures, the production environment may require a mixture of platforms and I/O interfaces. The modular design of the ALTUSEN solutions offers multiplatform/multi-I/O support that allows Windows, Mac, Linux and Serial Interface equipment to coexist on the same installation – providing an extremely high degree of platform and interface integration.

Privileged Console Control In order to perform necessary maintenance, or troubleshoot critical operations, it may be necessary for on-site supervisors to have priority control over the systems, so that remote operators can't unintentionally interfere with their work. The ALTUSEN solution handles this quite easily by integrating a console privileged control device, which gives top priority to the on-site (privileged) console.

Computing Device Manufacturer To ensure the high quality of their products, computing device manufacturers must perform rigorous testing procedures before allowing their products to ship. The manufacturer has a large number of devices that need to be tested, and each test engineer must monitor and access multiple systems simultaneously. The ALTUSEN KN2116A, with its Panel Array Mode™, allows an engineer to view the status of up to 16 test units at the same time – thereby improving work efficiency, considerably increasing time savings, and significantly reducing the idle time of each unit on the testing rack. • Panel Array Mode™ – Simultaneous monitoring of the status of all test units on the rack • Multiplatform support

Semiconductor Manufacturer A semiconductor manufacturer needs to reduce the time that its fab equipment stands idle while waiting for an operator’s commands to resume production. It also would like to achieve nearly 100% production line automation. The ALTUSEN solution calls for them to add a KN4132, a CS82A, plus a privileged console control device – CS231 to their installation. Now, operators can consolidate access and control of the equipment from a centralized remote area – such as working area in a clean room, or office center. From there, they can easily switch between their normal desktop PC operations and the fab equipment’s remote console display. At the same time, should the need arise, an on-site supervisor can take exclusive control of the equipment to perform mission critical tasks. • Remote Management • Multi-bus support – 1 local / 4 remote user access • Fab equipment integration – single remote management solution • On-site access control

Kiosk As an increasing number of consumers become accustomed to the speed and convenience of handling their own transactions electronically, an increasing number of companies are turning to self-service installations in order to streamline customer service and help hold the cost of business down. Web pages, are one example. But of even more significance is the rise of information and interactive kiosks that offer flexible and specialized services that can be found in public places such as shopping malls, airline and railroad terminals, as well as self-payment stations at retail stores and parking facilities. Under this new business paradigm, kiosk availability is critical for building consumer satisfaction and loyalty. A business can't afford to lose customers because their kiosks are unreliable or unavailable. Since the kiosks may not all be located on the same premises, the ability to efficiently manage all of their widely distributed kiosks from one central location is critical to that company's success. ALTUSEN offers a solution for total control of kiosk computers. • Remote

Access, Total Control

By providing remote BIOS-level access and power management capability, the Remote Kiosk Management Solution allows you to access and monitor kiosk computers situated in diverse locations from a single location. The kiosk's display appears on your local monitor – either full screen or as a dynamically scaled window – allowing you to perform all your maintenance functions just as if you were right there on the site. You can even make the kiosk server turn on, off and reboot directly from your remote console. • Centralized

Management

All of the KN1000 units that are used to control the kiosk computers can be integrated into a single tree view for single entry centralized access, administration and management when they are deployed under ALTUSEN's CC2000 Control Center Over the NET™ system. Downtime

With 100% access to kiosk computers and Auto Ping feature, if the system goes down or freezes with the “blue screen of death,” you are able to access it remotely; troubleshoot the problem; and get the system up and running again in no time. No lengthy wait for the time it would take to send an engineer into the field. • Boosted

Efficiency

Configurable user and group permissions boosts management efficiency by tailoring authorization credentials for each administrator. This frees administrators from having to check into the central office in order to perform their tasks. They can operate from any location that has internet access, and also allows them to share access to specific servers for mutual support when working in a collaborative environment. • Reduced

Costs

Remote control and centralized management of all kiosks avoids on-site servicing – you save on manpower and travel costs. In addition, energy costs can be held down through schedule power cycling (On / Off / Reboot) of the kiosk computers according to a site's usage periods (such as peak and off hours). Powering down a kiosk and its server when not in use extend the life of the system – saving expensive replacement costs.

The KN1000 features BIOS-level access and remote power control. With real-time updating and file transfer capability, it makes management more efficient and convenient. In addition, all of the widely dispersed kiosk servers can be managed via a single portal from any location at any time by means of a convenient, user-friendly GUI – CC2000 management software. • Power

• Effortless

Installation

Setting up an ALTUSEN High-Density KVM Switch is fast and easy – plugging cables into their respective ports is all that it takes. Because the switch intercepts keyboard input directly, there are no complex software installation routines, and no need to be concerned about incompatibility problems.

• Eliminate

Cable Clutter – Cut Cable Costs – Save Space

With RJ-45 connectors for their KVM ports, ALTUSEN High-Density KVM Switches use a single Cat 5e or Cat 6 cable to provide complete KVM connectivity to your installed devices – eliminating the tangled mess and bulk of traditional KVM connection methods, and saving the cost that traditional cabling entails. Using small RJ-45 connectors instead of traditional connection methods, also allows the switches to fit in a 1U housing – saving on precious rack space.

• Flexible

Deployment

High-Density KVM Switches eliminate the requirement for the servers to be in close proximity to the switch, or the need to purchase KVM extenders if the servers are further away. Use of RJ-45 connectors and either Cat 5e or Cat 6 cable, provides the flexibility to locate your servers anywhere up to 50 m away.

• Multi

Platform Integration

Use of KVM Adapter Cables to provide the final link between ALTUSEN High-Density KVM Switches and the devices they manage allow server environments containing any combination of Windows, Mac, Sun, Linux and VT100 based serial devices to easily coexist and be integrated under a single management system.

• Increased

Management Efficiency

ALTUSEN High-Density KVM Switches offer a number of convenient methods to monitor, access, and control the devices on your installation. Port selection can be accomplished by pressing port selection pushbuttons directly on the switch, or from a KVM console with hotkey combinations entered from the keyboard; or by means of a powerful menu driven OSD (On Screen Display) system. In addition, operators can effortlessly monitor activity on the installation through a dynamic Auto Scan function which automatically switches among user selected ports at regular intervals.

• Budget

Friendly Investment Protected Incremental Expansion

ALTUSEN High-Density KVM Switches allow you to reap the benefits of high end KVM switching power on an "as needed" basis. You can start out purchasing only the number of switches you currently require. As your server installation grows, your KVM switch investment is protected because additional switches can be daisy chained to the original ones – you don't have to throw out the originals and start over. When your installation is ready to expand, simply daisy-chain additional switches – step-by-step, you can control up to 512 computers from your original switch.

• Intelligent

Design Lets You Work Smarter

To enable administrators to relocate the servers to different ports without having to perform complicated reconfiguration procedures, the switches make use of an intelligent Adapter ID function. By moving the cable together with the device, the correct configuration is automatically in place – saving the trouble of having to reenter all the critical information. Not all products support these features, please see each product's features for details.

• Cut

Costs – Save Space – Eliminate Cable Clutter

Matrix KVM Switches allow up to 9 consoles to manage up to 32 target devices, while only taking up 1U of rack space. With RJ-45 connectors for their KVM ports and custom Adapter Cables for the final connecting link, only a single Cat 5e/6 cable is required to provide complete KVM connectivity to your installed devices. This not only eliminates the tangled mess and bulk of traditional KVM connection methods, it saves the cost that traditional cabling entails. It also lets you extend the distance between console and servers up to 300 m with 1280x1024@60Hz video resolution.

• Clear

Intuitive Interface

The Matrix KVM Switch offers an intuitive, full screen Graphical UI for both Console and Browser-based sessions. All ports are integrated in a hierarchical composite tree view – providing quick, convenient, efficient access, administration, and control of your entire installation. The GUI is consistent across all ALTUSEN products, which saves on training time and costs and increases user efficiency.

• Dependable

Operation

The Matrix KVM Switch's dual power supply design ensure dependable 24/7 reliability. Should the switch's primary power supply fail, its redundant power supply can take over so there is no pause in operation and the installation stays up and running.

• Integrated

Power Management

Used in conjunction with an ALTUSEN PN0108 Power Over the NET™ power management device, administrators have the convenience of a single interface for both KVM and power management control of the servers, by associating a port on the Matrix KVM Switch with a power outlet on the PN0108. Once an association has been made, the power status of the server can be controlled from the switch's interface – saving the inconvenience of having to open a separate session to manage the server's power status. If any of the servers has a dual power supply, you can associate a second outlet – a synchronization feature allows you to correlate the power management operation of both power supplies, reducing maintenance and administration time.

• Virtual

Media

Virtual Media support lets you map DVD/CD-ROMs and other storage media to any server that uses virtual mediacapable adapter cables to connect to the Matrix KVM Switch. Performing firmware upgrades, diagnostic tests, file transfers, and installing OS and application patches can all be accomplished smoothly and quickly across the entire installation from any of the console modules – reducing downtime and saving maintenance costs.

• Incremental

KVM Switch Expansion

ALTUSEN Matrix KVM Switches allow you to reap the benefits of high end KVM switching power on an "as needed" basis. You can start out purchasing only the number of switches you currently require to manage your servers. As your server installation grows, your KVM switch investment is protected because additional switches can be daisy chained, cascaded, or both in tandem. Flexible expansion configurations allow up to 9 consoles to control hundreds of servers step-by-step. Daisychaining KM0032 switches offers a further cost-saving configuration – since the switches use dedicated chain ports, all of their KVM ports can be utilized for server connections – none of them need to be used for cascading.

• Incremental

Console Expansion

The powerful Dual Root function enables the linking of two KM0932 switches to achieve a configuration that accommodates up to 18 consoles. As was the case with switch expansion, you can expand the number of consoles flexibly to match your operational requirements – an ideal solution for installations like large data centers where multiple video displays are used.

• Superior

Video Quality

Matrix KVM Switches transmit their video signals via Cat 5e/6 cable which provides superior video quality. Outstanding video output is also achieved through the incorporation of several key features – including Auto Signal Compensation (ASC), storing of EDID information on the server's adapter cable, and ATEN's patented Deskew Technology – which automatically synchronizes the time delay of RGB signals and corrects the color phase and timing errors that occur over large distances to provide clear, sharp, optimized video to the remote displays – making a Matrix KVM Switch an excellent choice for video intensive applications.

Matrix KVM Switches

• Effortless

Port Access and Control

Several design functions built into the Matrix KVM Switch make accessing and managing any device on the installation effortlessly convenient – no matter how many servers are deployed. For example, the Console Selector function allows administrators to set up a connection between a console and selected ports for quick and easy access to critical servers. The Push Video hotkey lets an operator push the console’s port connection to a different console so another operator can take over. In addition, each Console Module has a built-in RS-232 port that administrators can use to establish a serial terminal login to the Console Module. They can use this to control KVM port assignments for all consoles connected to switch from a single interface point. This feature is extremely useful in large data centers where the display of all the consoles can be projected onto a wall for easy viewing of all operations, and the entire installation can be monitored on a port-by-port basis.

• Audio

Enabled

The Matrix KVM Switch supports audio output from multimedia-capable devices that are connected to it with audio-capable adapter cables. Sound output – including beeps from the servers – can be played on the console’s speaker so that administrators can identify and troubleshoot system problems at an early stage to minimize downtime and repair costs. With the Multicast Audio feature, a port's audio output can be transmitted to more than one console – allowing operators at the selected consoles to listen to the audio being broadcast by that port.

• Flexible

Re-Deployment

With the Matrix KVM Switch's Adapter ID Function, moving servers to new locations no longer means going through the hassle of reconfiguring all the settings and recreating user authorizations. All that is required is to move the server's adapter cable along with the server. When you move a server together with its adapter cable from one port to another, the Adapter ID function restores all the settings at the new location.

Console Modules & KVM Adapter Cables The Matrix KVM Switch’s modular design – using console modules to link the console devices (keyboards, monitors, and mice) to the switch, and KVM Adapter Cables to link the switch to the servers – allows for a high degree of platform and interface integration. You can have PS/2 and USB interfaces; Win, Linux, Mac, and Sun platforms; all working together smoothly on the same installation. The use of RJ-45 connectors and Cat 5e/6 cabling eliminates bulky traditional cables, and makes for more reliable throughput and a neat, efficient, uncluttered work environment.

• Space

Efficient

The ALTUSEN KL series of enterprise class LCD KVM Switches and LCD Consoles provides a streamlined method to conserve server room rack space by integrating a retractable LCD monitor, keyboard, and touchpad in a 1U Dual Rail housing that is designed to install easily and operate smoothly.

• Convenient

Monitoring

The Dual Rail system separates the LCD module from keyboard/touchpad module so they can move independently of each other. This allows the keyboard/touchpad to be pushed back into the housing and out of the way when not in use, while the LCD screen can be rotated up to the rack for convenient monitoring of server operation – the LCD module's range of rotation is adjustable to provide the best viewing angle.

• Enhanced

Console Control

In addition to the console integrated into the LCD KVM Switches and LCD Consoles, they also contain a set of ports that let you connect an external KVM console. This provides administrators with the ability to use a standard keyboard/monitor/mouse console, if they like. Other, even more powerful options for the external console ports, are to connect a KVM extender, or a CN8000 KVM on the NET™* unit. Ordinarily, the LCD KVM Switches and LCD Consoles can only be accessed locally, but a CN8000 module is an ingenious method of providing them with the ability to be accessed remotely. * The CN8000 from ATEN is an ultra-compact, over IP solution for remote access to computers and KVM installations. Please see ATEN catalog or www.aten.com for more details.

Dual Rail

Dedicated Invocation Keys

Dual Rail LCD KVM Switches

• Easy

Access and Control

ALTUSEN LCD KVM Switches provide three convenient methods to monitor, access, and control the devices on your installation: Port selection can be accomplished by pressing port selection pushbuttons directly on the switch; from a KVM console with hotkey combinations entered from the keyboard; or with a powerful menu driven OSD (On Screen Display) system. Depending on the model, station and port selectors with 7-segment LED displays are also available for fast and smooth switching to target computers.

• Exceptional

User Experience

A number of features to provide an exceptional user experience for administrators have been incorporated into the LCD KVM Switches and LCD Consoles. For example, if using the touchpad is inconvenient, an external mouse port lets the administrator use an external mouse instead. Dedicated Invocation Keys reduce the number of keystrokes necessary to access important features, such as Hotkey and OSD modes, and helpful labels and intuitive, colorcoded icons on the switches make it easier and more efficient for administrators to perform their management operations.

• Boost

Management Efficiency

ALTUSEN LCD KVM Switches feature a dynamic Auto Scan function which automatically switches among user selected ports at user specified intervals – allowing administrators to monitor their status without the bother of having to switch ports manually. Depending on the model, a Broadcast function is available that transmits the administrators keyboard and mouse input to all the available computers on the installation, instead of having to perform the same commands or clicks over and over again for each server.

• Safe

Operation

The locking design used with the modules offers safer, more secure, more convenient operation of the switches by preventing them from sliding in and out at random – thereby eliminating potential accident situations. The design also ensures that the keyboard/touchpad module remains securely locked away in the housing when sliding the LCD module out. To tuck the LCD module away, simply rotate the cover down, release the safety catch, and slide the module into the housing.

• Easy

Installation Options

Normal rack mounting of the ALTUSEN LCD KVM Switches and LCD Consoles is not difficult, but requires two people to accomplish the installation. To enable a single individual to easily and conveniently perform the installation, optional Single Person Easy Installation Rack Mount Kits are available to streamline the procedure. Not all products support these features, please see each product's features for details.

Installation Options ALTUSEN LCD KVM Switches/LCD Consoles allow you to choose from a host of optional rack mount kits to meet your needs, including the Single Person Easy Installation Rack Mount Kit, which streamlines the rack mounting process. Normal rack mounting procedures call for at least two people to rack mount an LCD KVM switch/LCD Console. The Single Person Easy Installation Rack Mount Kit enables one person to rack mount an LCD KVM Switch. In just a matter of minutes, your new LCD KVM Switch/LCD Console can go from the box to the rack.

Control Center Over the NET ™ CC2000 Management Software

ATEN's CC2000 Management Software – updated with new, powerful, features including VMware support – provides IT administrators with the tools they need to access and control their entire distributed data center environment. Offering convenient, economical, centralized management of all their IT devices, the CC2000 Management Software puts administrators in complete control of their remote data centers and branch offices no matter where in the world they are deployed. When used in conjunction with any Over the NET ™ product (KVM Over the NET™, Serial Over the NET™, PowerOver the NET™), the CC2000 management software allows IT administrators to remotely monitor and control all installed devices, including blade servers and virtual machines. The CC2000's Primary-Secondary architecture safeguards data transmissions through built-in redundancy factors, including scheduling database backup of Primary, Secondary Servers and devices in addition to real-time database updating. Redundancy ensures that should any of the CC2000 servers go down, the CC2000 management system will keep functioning, since a redundant Secondary unit takes over and provides the required services until the Primary unit comes back up. The double redundancy feature, in which each Secondary server can have its own redundant Secondary, ensures smooth, uninterrupted access management of all your devices.

Control Center Over the NET ™ A secure and centralized management solution that enables you to manage all the equipment connected to Over the NET™ devices through a single portal.

Power Over the NET ™

Serial Over the NET ™

KVM Over the NET ™

Remotely manage the power status of IT devices in server rooms throughout the world.

Manage and control all the serial devices inside the server room from anywhere at anytime.

Access and manage different types of server platform in remote data centers with ease.

• Centralized

Control and Management

CC2000 management software provides control of your enterprise through single portal, single sign-on, secure, centralized management of all your entire IT installation – local and worldwide – anywhere; anytime. It consolidates the management of all ATEN/ALTUSEN “Over the NET™” devices – such as Power Over the NET™, Serial Over the NET™, and KVM over the NET™ – as well as incorporating other devices, including Blade Servers and VMware virtual machines. Instead of having to access these devices through a separate interface for each one, the CC2000 integrates them all into one single interface – making system management easier and more efficient. • Unsurpassed

Reliability

CC2000 management software uses a Primary-Secondary architecture to offer service redundancy with realtime database updating. With this feature, a Secondary server can substitute for the Primary if the Primary server fails. Redundancy also means that should any of the CC2000 servers go down, its function and information is not lost – a redundant Secondary unit can provide the required management services until the downed unit comes back up. In addition, double redundancy ensures smooth system management, since if a Secondary server in a remote site goes down, its redundant Secondary server will provide the required management services. • Clear

Intuitive Interface

Administrators can access, configure and manage all of their IT equipment in all of their data centers and remote offices through a user-friendly, intuitive, browser-based UI. Servers and serial devices are integrated into a single tree view, making the CC2000 ideal for enterprises with data centers and branch offices, located in several remote locations. In addition, the browser-based UI offers a multilanguage interface to minimize user training time and increase productivity. • Flexible

Scheduling

The CC2000 supports the flexible scheduling of a wide variety of system tasks. Scheduled tasks include standard maintenance, firmware updates, application installations, exporting logs, power managing devices, configuring devices, exporting account etc. These tasks can be performed across the entire installation from a single interface – allowing administrators to use their time more efficiently. • Logging,

Audits and Alerts

CC2000 management software delivers comprehensive logging and reporting of system events that include audit trails for effective diagnostics and troubleshooting resolution. Powerful search functions and extensive sorting and filtering options let you quickly pinpoint the events you are searching for. Search results, as well as complete logs, can be conveniently exported for analysis. • Conveniently

Monitoring

The CC2000's Panel DynaArray ™ function displays the output of multiple ports in individual panels on the administrator's screen – allowing administrators to monitor their status without the bother of having to switch to the ports manually. The panel configuration is flexible – panels can easily be opened, closed, moved and resized – permitting administrators to select which devices they wish to monitor, and the way the ports appear on their screens. Ports can be accessed and managed simply by clicking on the panel it is displayed in. • Virtual

Device Support

Virtualization lets enterprises save space, hardware costs, and utility expenses by allowing them to consolidate their data centers and server rooms. With virtualization, the same number of tasks can be performed by fewer physical servers. The CC2000 integrates virtual machines into its GUI tree structure and manages them just as if they were real, physical, machines. Virtualization support not only saves on your costs, it also increases the efficiency and longevity of your network infrastructure.

• Multiple

Bus and Multiple Login Support Boosts Management Efficiency

The multiple bus and multiple login support provided by KVM Over the NET™ switches greatly increases management efficiency and administrative flexibility. With up to 5 separate buses and support for up to 32 simultaneous logins, the greatest number of servers can be independently managed by the fewest number of operators – reducing human resource expenses while increasing total administrative efficiency. • Ease

of Collaboration

KVM Over the NET™ switches allow multiple users who are logged on at the same time to conveniently collaborate with each other through its Access Mode and Message Board functions. Access Mode offers three port access choices – Exclusive; Occupy; and Share – to resolve user priority problems; while the Message Board functions like an Internet chat program – allowing administrators to easily communicate with each other to share management information and resolve port access conflicts. • Centralized

Server Monitoring

Monitoring server activity over the entire installation from a single monitor couldn’t be easier. The switch's Panel Array Mode™ allows administrators to display the video output of up to 40 servers on their monitors at the same time, while a convenient Auto Scan feature permits automatic switching from port to port. • Integrated

KVM and Power Management

Administrators can have the convenience of a single interface for both KVM and power management by associating a port on the switch with a power outlet on a connected PDU. Once an association has been made, the power status of the device attached to the switch can be controlled from the switch's interface – saving the inconvenience of having to open a separate session to manage the device's power status. If any of the servers has a dual power supply, a second outlet can be associated with the device for added efficiency. The synchronization feature allows you to correlate the power management operation of both power supplies, reducing maintenance and administration time. • Centralized

Real Time Updating and Maintenance

Virtual Media support allows operators to map DVD/CD-ROMs and other storage media to a remote server. Performing firmware upgrades, diagnostic tests, file transfers, and installing OS and application patches can all be accomplished smoothly and quickly across the installation from a single console located anywhere in the world. • Comprehensive

Reliability

Incorporation of dual power supplies and dual IP interfaces provides comprehensive reliability through backup redundancy. For example, should one of the power supplies fail, the other power supply takes over; likewise, if the primary LAN interface become unavailable, the secondary interface steps in to keep your installation up and running. • Effortless

Operation

Administrators can access, configure and operate all of their equipment through a user-friendly, intuitive GUI. The interface features a magic panel that conveniently stays hidden until invoked by moving the mouse over a designated area of the screen. The panel contains user configurable function icons to make server management easy and convenient. The GUI also offers a unified multilanguage interface to minimize user training time and increase productivity.

KVM Over the NET ™

• Unrestricted

Language Input

The KVM Over the NET™ switches support an on-screen keyboard available in multiple languages, with all the standard keys for each – there is no need to purchase a separate keyboard for each language. There is no need to go through the inconvenience of changing keyboard configuration settings if the keyboard languages of the administrator and server are different – simply bring up the on-screen keyboard; select the language; and go to work. • Exceptional

User Experience

With powerful display options resulting from the Virtual Remote Desktop* feature, a remote server's display can appear on the administrator's monitor either full-screen or in a window that allows flexible scaling of the video display – users can operate the installation's servers from remote locations just as if they were actually at the local site. In addition, the Mouse DynaSync™ function provides automatic locked-in syncing of the remote and local mouse pointers – resulting in perfect mouse alignment regardless of the mouse acceleration settings on the server, and eliminating the annoyance of constantly having to resync the two mice. *Not all products support all the “Virtual Remote Desktop” features • Intelligent

System Design Lets You Work Smarter

To reduce port access conflicts that may arise due to multiple logins, KVM Over the NET™ switches utilize an intelligent bus allocation system that automatically assigns users to one of multiple separate buses when they log in. Up to 32 users can be distributed over the buses to provide flexible interoperability when port switching. To enable administrators to relocate the servers to different ports without having to perform complicated reconfiguration procedures, the switches make use of an intelligent Adapter ID function. By moving the cable together with the device, the correct configuration is automatically in place – saving the trouble of having to reenter all the critical information. • Blade

Server Integration

Modern server rooms make extensive use of blade servers, and KVM Over the NET™ switches makes managing them an effortless matter. Administrators can easily create an association between a port on the switch and any individual blade, or an entire blade server – allowing the blade server to be integrated into the switch's tree view and the individual blade to be accessed. • Audio

Enabled for the Modern Work Environment

Recognizing that many applications in the work environment require audio support, KVM Over the NET™ switches support speakers at the remote site. • Go

Green

Energy saving features built into the KVM Over the NET™ switches are both friendly to the environment and save on maintenance and equipment costs. Four temperature sensors regulate up to six fans so that they constantly run at their optimum speeds – resulting in more efficient energy use, and prolonging the life of both the fans and the switch. • Early

Warnings – Timely Responses

With powerful SNMP Trap features and sophisticated notification options, administrators can customize the settings according to their needs to keep on top of all the significant events that take place on their systems and respond to critical situations in a timely manner. Not all products support these features, please see each product's features for details.

ALTUSEN Power Over the NET ™ products offer outlet level control combined with remote access to give IT administrators the ability to power control devices attached to the unit from practically any location via a TCP/IP connection. With support for power status measurement, Power Over the NET ™ devices enable administrators to monitor the current, voltage and power consumption of their IT equipment, either at the PDU or outlet level, minimizing the power cost of running their equipment; and ensuring high levels of system availability for server rooms of all sizes. A measuring feature, coupled with a threshold alarm, keeps you informed of the operating status of all your attached equipment. Warning messages regarding triggered alarms can be sent via an SMTP server or SMS via the unit's Digital Output port. Power Over the NET ™ devices also provide sensor ports for temperature and humidity monitoring and threshold alarm message notification. IT administrators are able to easily and conveniently monitor and power control connected devices – remotely if necessary – by means of a browser-based UI, thereby minimizing maintenance costs and ensuring 24/7 reliability for their server room operations. ALTUSEN Power Over the NET ™ products can be daisy-chained to manage even more devices, so your server room management can expand in step with your company's growth. In a daisy-chained installation, administrators can remotely monitor and control the power status of a server that has a dual power supply from a single portal, by connecting its power cords to the outlets of separate level units (so they can receive power from separate sources). For ease of management, when Power Over the NET ™ devices are deployed in conjunction with other ALTUSEN products, administrators can access them all from the same user interface. When a Power Over the NET ™ device is integrated in a CC (Control Center Over the NET ™) management software installation, the power outlet of an IT device can be associated with its KVM port and displayed on the same CC web page. This allows IT administrators to completely control an IT device from a single user interface. Not all products support these features, please see each product’s features for details.

• Intelligent

Power Management

ALTUSEN's Power Over the NET™ products are designed with up to 20 outlets for easy server room management. By daisy chaining additional units, up to 320 outlets can be managed from a single interface. They provide secure, centralized, intelligent, power management (power on, off, restart) of your data center equipment. The power status of each outlet can be set individually, allowing users to establish on/off schedules for each device. On/Off scheduling allows administrators to configure start, shutdown, and restart times on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, while On/Off sequencing enables users to set the power on sequence and delay time for each port to allow equipment to be turned on in the proper order.

• Remote

Monitoring

PON units utilize a browser based GUI to access, configure, and manage all connected IT equipment via the Internet. Remote administrators can monitor current, voltage, active power, and power consumption status of the devices on the installation from just about anywhere in the world, and take appropriate management action. By plugging temperature and humidity sensors into ports provided for them on the units, even the rack environment can be monitored remotely.

• Remote

Outlet Management

Simply by clicking a button on the browser-based GUI, administrators can power control any of the connected devices with ease. There is no longer any need for administrators to be tied to the server room, or to move from device to device turning equipment on and off. Remote outlet management ensures that server room operations go reliably and smoothly.

• Remote

Environment Monitoring

Power Over the NET™ devices support external environment sensors that allow administrators to remotely monitor the temperature and humidity environment around the rack. IT administrators can set maximum, minimum, and fluctuation threshold limits. If the temperature or humidity goes out of range, an alarm is triggered to alert the administrator, who can take appropriate action before a system failure occurs – ensuring the highest degree of availability for all mission-critical equipment.

• Early

Warning – Timely Intervention

Integrating Power Over the NET™ PDUs into your IT installation protects you against equipment damage due to operational hazards such as circuit overload, voltage surges, and abnormal environmental conditions. Administrators can set threshold levels for current, voltage, power consumption, humidity, and temperature for each port. Should conditions occur where the threshold levels fall outside of their specified ranges, audio alarms and blinking lights are triggered at the local site. At the same time, designated administrators receive specific alarm notifications via SMTP email, SNMP trap, or SMS sender. Necessary steps can be taken in a timely manner to avoid equipment damage and reduce mean time to recovery.

Power Over the NET ™

• Centralized

Management

Power Over the NET™ devices can be integrated into a CC2000 (Control Center Over the NET™) managed installation, providing administrators with single portal, single sign-on, secure, centralized control over PON device, as well as their other Over the NET™ products, all from a single interface. There is also a Port Association function that lets administrators associate a KVM port with the power outlet and serial port of a connected IT device. The three ports can then be displayed together on the same web page for the utmost in convenient access and management efficiency.

• ALTUSEN

Product Integration

ALTUSEN Power Over the NET™ PDUs can be integrated into an installation containing multiple ALTUSEN Over the NET™ devices. The Power Association function found on supported ALTUSEN KVM switches enables PON power outlets to be associated with KVM ports. Once an association has been made, the power status of the device attached to the KVM port can be controlled from the KVM switch's interface – saving administrators the time and bother of having to open a separate web session to the PON device.

• Redundant

Reliability – Failsafe Operation

ALTUSEN Power Over the NET™ units support redundant power management via daisy chaining and outlet groups, to ensure your installation stays up and running. Outlet groups enable power configuration and control actions to be carried out on a selected group of outlets at the same time, rather than repeatedly performing the same action on each individual one. For equipment with dual power supplies, power supply redundancy is achieved by connecting one of the power supplies to one PON, then connecting the other power supply to a separate (daisy chained) PON, and finally connecting the two PONs to two separate power lines. In this way, should the primary power supply fail, the redundant power supply automatically takes over to deliver failsafe operation. For increased management efficiency, both outlets can be monitored and controlled from the same web page.

Environment Monitoring

• Flexible

Flexible Expansion

Expansion

No matter what size your business is, there is an ALTUSEN Power Over the NET™ configuration to match it. You can start out purchasing only the number of Power Over the NET™ units you currently require to manage your installation, and add more units as your installation grows. To power manage larger numbers of IT devices, additional Power Over the NET™ PDUs can be daisy chained on an "as needed" basis. Flexible expansion configurations allow you to add up to 15 Power Over the NET™ PDUs containing up to 320 outlets step-by-step.

• Overcurrent

Protection

Built-in overcurrent protection ensures against equipment and site damage due to an electrical problem with the Power Over the NET™ unit. For supported PONs, as a safety measure, if there is an overcurrent situation regarding the device’s power, its circuit breakers will trip, saving a potentially disastrous situation. To recover normal operation, simply press the unit's circuit breaker button. Not all products support these features, please see each product's features for details.

• Virtual

Port Management

Serial Over the NET™ products offer Real COM Port support. Devices connected to this type of virtual port appear as if they were directly connected to a COM port on the local computer. Data transmission between the device and the local computer takes place over the virtual COM port to the Serial Over the NET™ device. This mode is especially convenient for use with POS terminals, Bar Code Readers, Serial printers, etc. • Simultaneous

Control

Multiple users can log in at the same time via a TCP/IP connection from any computer connected to the Internet. Since the first 8/16 users are able to control separate ports, all attached devices (up to 8/16) can be accessed concurrently. The other concurrent login users may view the port's video output. • Individual

Port Configuration

The administrator, as well as users with port configuration permission, can set up a specific operating mode for each port: Console Management, Raw TCP Mode, or Real COM Port.

• Alert

Settings Support

Serial Over the NET™ products can inform you via email about problems that may occur on the devices that are connected to them. Up to 10 keywords or phases for each port can be emailed to you. For example, when a device encounters a problem — such as a critical error that requires a reboot — a debug message is sent through its COM port. When the Serial Over the NET™ device receives the message, it sends an email to inform the user. • Multiple

Communication Modes

The Serial Over the NET™ supports a wide variety of serial communication modes, such as Real COM, TCP Server, TCP Client, UDP, Modbus, Virtual Modem and Serial Tunnel – offering versatile and diversified serial data access methods to meet a broad range of application requirements. • Out

of Band Configuration

OOBC (Out of Band Configuration), provides the ability to access Serial Over the NET™ devices over a serial connection. This can either be a direct serial connection from a local computer, or a dial in connection via modem. OOB connection support includes HyperTerminal, Telnet, and SSH. • Advanced

Security features

Serial Over the NET™ devices are equipped with internal and external user authentication methods and port specific access rights. The administrator may set different port access rights to specific users on a port-by-port basis, allowing for customized security. Each port can be accessed individually by up to eight or sixteen users. Login security is port specific and supports secure multi-user and multi-level login. • Complete

Serial and Power Management Solution

Serial Over the NET™ products can work in tandem with other remote management products — such as the ALTUSEN PN9108/PN0108 Power Over the NET™ remote power management system to provide convenient, reliable, and effective, remote data center device management. • Authentication

Network Management Service

ANMS (Authentication Network Management Service) supports login authorization management from external sources. External authorization sources include CC Management*, RADIUS, LDAP(s), and AD settings. * Allows authorization for the Serial Over the NET™ products via a Control Center server (CC2000).

Furthermore, users can set environment thresholds (When the humidity reaches a certain level for example) to allow equipment to be monitored for irregularity. • Remote

Power Management

There is no need to move back and forth anymore to power on/off servers located in a server room. By simply clicking a button on the browser-based UI, administrators can reset devices, power devices/ severs on/off, manually or automatically turn on/off lights, or enable/disable the backup power source. Real-time power control ensures the system/environment operates smoothly, avoids system interruption due to irregularities, and prolongs the lifetime of the systems or devices. • Automatic

Control

Administrators can set a logical relationship between an Analog/ Digital Input port and Digital Output ports/ Power Outlets, such as to turn on the fan plugged into the power outlet of the GN0116 when the temperature (regulated by a sensor connected to an input port) reaches a certain level, or perhaps set off an alarm should smoke be detected. In a multiple GN0116 installation, the administrator can even configure relationships between the ports connected to different GN0116 units. Ultimately, maintenance costs are drastically reduced since constant administrator supervision is no longer required. • Early

4 Digital/Analog I/O ports support up to 16 devices to regulate the health of your equipment

Warning Notification

The GN0116 supports connection to various alarm devices and/ or an SMS sender for early warning. With logical configuration, messages can be sent to administrators when irregularities occur. Also, an email warning can be sent via SMTP server, when a threshold has been exceeded. Necessary actions can be taken to avoid damage or minimize the loss which is caused by irregularities. • Easy

Operation – Browser-Based UI

In addition to ssConsole for serial connection, the GN0116 supports an embedded browser-based UI, and the Guardian Monitor Center software which allows all the ports connecting the GN0116 units to be integrated into a Table view or Chart view for monitoring and control. Offering an intuitive and user-friendly Graphical User Interface, the Guardian Monitor Center allows management to record port data to a graph, or export that data to a file.

• Flexible

Easy Operation – Browser-Based UI

Expansion

Up to 255 additional units can be daisy-chained from the original GN0116 unit, providing the right level of hardware deployment to match your budget and expansion requirements. In addition, by utilizing the free Guardian Monitor Center software, all the GN0116 units connected in the same network can be consolidated into a single user interface for easy management.
