What YOU Love

All year long, I spend my days putting together content that I hope our readers will enjoy. I attend events, talk to locals, and do my best to have my finger on the pulse of our beautiful community, always on the lookout for compelling stories to tell and interesting places to explore. But the September issue? Much of it comes from all of you

Earlier this year, we asked our readers to nominate some of the things they love about the Treasure Coast—the faces and places that make this area so special. We then posted the top mentions in each category and asked you to vote—and you showed up! We received thousands of ballots this year, and I’m so excited to finally reveal everything you guys picked as the Best of the Treasure Coast for 2025.

In our second annual Best of Issue, there are five categories (with 76 subcategories): Food + Drink, Shopping, Personalities, Wellness + Beauty, and Services + Facilities. Many of you reached out when we opened nominations, asking why we didn’t include X category or Y or Z. Please know that your thoughts were heard. Obviously, there are infinite wonderful things we could list—but finite space in the magazine. We plan to change up the categories from year to year so that we can give all types of businesses, services, facilities, and people the opportunity to be included.

I want to be super clear about how these finalists and winners were selected: everything was chosen by the community. My role was simply to tally the votes and put together the pages for the feature (which starts on page 50). Not everyone is going to agree on everything in life, so if you feel someone or something is underrepresented, make sure you nominate and vote next year!

I want to thank our readers for speaking out and helping us put together this list. Perhaps you will see something in this issue that inspires you to try something new this season. And to all the winners and finalists, congratulations! Your community loves you.

Peace and blessings,

A September to remember!

Welcome to September! Do you notice anything different about the magazine this month? Stuart Magazine has a new trim size that is slightly wider and brings a fresh look to our already beautiful publication. With all the quality content you’ve come to expect—but bigger!—this issue will be one to remember for sure, and I can’t wait to dig into everything our editor has put together.

This time of year always arrives with a renewed sense of vibrancy across Martin and St. Lucie counties. As the long days of summer give way to golden sunsets and crisp coastal breezes, our communities come alive once again with fresh energy, new beginnings, and the unmistakable charm that makes this region so special. Whether you have been traveling over the summer or soaking in every bit of local sunshine, this month marks a time to ease back into our routines and get ready for the busy season.

Fall here is anything but ordinary. The roads start getting a bit busier, new restaurants always seem to be opening, local boutiques are unveiling their fall collections, and everyone is preparing for all the amazing events of the season. Speaking of events, don’t forget our annual Charity Datebook insert runs in the October issue, highlighting all the events for a wonderful season of giving—so look forward to that! To keep up with other events going on throughout season, be sure to sign up for our weekly Insider’s Guide newsletter at stuartmagazine.com. Also coming up in the October issue is our annual promotional section: Faces of Martin & St. Lucie Counties.

In this issue, as with every issue, there are a few special advertising sections: the Home Resource Guide, Luxury Homes Real Estate Guide, and Flavor Dining Guide. If you are interested in advertising in a future issue, please reach out to me for more information.

Here’s to the start of a new season here on the Treasure Coast!

Warmly,

THE LOCAL

PLACE

BRAZILIAN ARTIST ROMERO BRITTO’S ARTWORK IS BURSTING WITH POSITIVE ENERGY AND JOYFUL HUES. EXPERIENCE IT FOR YOURSELF AT THE ARTIST’S NEW STORE IN THE GARDENS MALL.

Romero Britto’s creative universe is a playful place full of Pop Art polka dots, spray paint drips, sunshine, and hearts. Still, he confesses that his canvases don’t always reflect his state of mind.

“I’m not always happy,” says Britto, who’s seated at his studio in front of an enormous mural he recently painted. The scene makes it look like hearts and flowers are exploding from his very soul. “I’m just like anybody else,” he continues. “I mean, I want to create images of hope and happiness but, you know, it’s not like I’m the guy who wakes up like that in the morning. My art is a vehicle for me to find a happy place inside myself.”

Back in April, Britto opened a store at The Gardens Mall, which, much like his artwork, is bursting with vibrant colors and a happy vibe that can’t help but make you smile when you enter. It’s a place where local collectors can now grab a slice of the Britto joy for themselves. Considered the most licensed artist

in the world, Britto is collected by notables such as Great Britain’s King Charles III, Brazilian soccer player Neymar, record producer DJ Khaled, Colombian pop star Shakira, and Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli. His work has been exhibited in more than 120 countries around the world, appeared in the Super Bowl XLI pregame show, and been featured at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. His fine art and everyday wares such as dog gear, fine bone

china, perfumes, chess sets, and desk chairs are sold online and in a network of Britto stores that will continue to expand this year. But for all his reach, why stop at mere visuals? Britto has launched a skin care line called, of course, Britto Skin. His drive to do more (and to do it better) stems from growing up as one of nine children in Recife, Brazil. His single mom was more concerned about putting food on the table than her son’s nascent creative pursuits. Britto recalls selling his first piece of art at age 14, but while he loved looking at pieces by Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso, and Roy Lichtenstein in books, he wanted to be a diplomat. He enrolled in law school but was miserable there, so he dropped out—

and started thinking about art again. When he was 25, he visited a Brazilian friend in Miami and loved the city so much, he never left. “I remember falling in love with the sunshine and the palm trees and the water everywhere,” he says. “Everything was larger than life, and because I had lived in a small town, I liked that very much.”

To make ends meet, he worked odd jobs while trying to sell his art. Eventually, he found a home decor store that agreed to sell his work. One thing led to another, and he was contracted to do a national advertising campaign for Absolut Vodka.

The iconic brand had begun collaborating with artists in the 1980s after Andy Warhol saw one of its bottles and said he wanted to give it the Campbell’s Soup Can treatment. Warhol recommended other artists who could put their own spin on the bottle. When Britto got his turn in 1989, it changed the trajectory of his career.

Suddenly, his work was in major magazines like Vanity Fair, on billboards, and in galleries nationwide. Soon companies like Coca-Cola and Mattel wanted to get in on the Britto magic too. People kept telling him his work was “just so happy,” and his art ultimately became known as the Happy Art Movement.

Broad exposure often comes with criticism, which Britto takes in stride. “When you go out there, when more people see you, you have to be open to the fact that some will embrace you and others won’t, for whatever reason,” he says. “It could be ignorance. It could be, like, some sort of snobbery or even jealousy.

At his 60,000-square-foot headquarters in Miami (aka the Britto Palace), Britto paints, hosts art collectors, and runs his shiny, happy empire— with time to play built in.
“ MY ART IS A VEHICLE FOR ME TO FIND A HAPPY PLACE INSIDE MYSELF.”

There are all sorts of things that can make somebody dislike something. But I definitely don’t focus on negative thinking or comments or criticism. I focus on the people who collect my work. That means a lot to me.”

At his studio in Miami, the vibe is, of course, happy. Visitors are welcome by invitation only. In that sense, it’s sort of a Willy Wonka–esque golden ticket into the factory that creates all the goodies that bring his customers so much joy. Not everyone gets an entry into this world, but those who do are in for a real treat.

Britto also spreads his message of joy and

hope through philanthropy. He speaks to school groups about how education helps people change their lives for the better, and he has donated his time and talents to causes ranging from animal welfare to cancer research and children’s hospitals. “I wish I could do even more, but I need to do my art, and my art takes a long time to do,” he says. “But I have been very blessed and lucky to have an incredible team that supports me with so many of my endeavors.”

When he’s not painting, Britto likes to go to the beach, dine with friends, and spend time with his son. He’s always up

to something, he says, and will be traveling to Japan and the Middle East this year. He will also release a mezcal before year’s end and eventually a tequila too. “It’s going to be spectacular,” he says. It’s hard not to believe him.

Britto’s life is a story of surviving and thriving, and his paintings reflect that sentiment to those in search of the brightness in their own lives. People see his art and feel joyful. They buy a Britto piece so they can feel happy and hopeful in their own homes. And that, says the artist, is what moves him. britto.com; thegardensmall/retailer/britto ❖

The Aviation Museum on the Beach is a soaring tribute to the golden era of commercial aviation

If you’re the type who gets goose bumps at the sound of a Pratt & Whitney engine or still mourns the loss of Pan Am like it was a favorite uncle, the Aviation Museum on the Beach in Juno Beach is a must-visit.

Just across from Juno Beach Pier, the 2,750-square-foot aviation wonderland opened in April and serves as a love letter to the glory days of commercial flight. The museum houses more than 1,000 model airplanes—some one-of-a-kind—curated by Palm Beach Gardens resident David Marx, a lifelong collector and former logistics entrepreneur.

Marx, who once owned a toy company with his brother, has been building and collecting planes since he was 22. “It’s in my blood,” he says. His models span decades, from a 1950 Boeing Stratocruiser he snagged from a collector in France (possibly the only one of its kind in existence, he says), to a 1970s Braniff Airways-Air France Concorde model that is so rare, Marx says he’s

aware of only two in the world. He paid a guy $6,000 to drive it down from Syracuse, New York, and honestly? Worth. Every. Penny.

What really sets this museum apart is its fierce devotion to commercial aviation—99 percent of the collection is dedicated to civilian flight. Shelves made from TWA Lockheed Constellation aircraft.

Vintage ticket jackets showing the seat assignment—smoking or non. A tin replica of the B-29 bomber that dropped the atom bomb on Hiroshima. It’s part curated collection, part time capsule. “They’re like artwork,” Marx says of his models. “The museum aims to preserve a precious era, from the 1950s to the 2000s.”

Marx designed the space himself, drawing on years spent creating displays for his toy company. Some model planes are just 2 inches long, while others span 4 feet. Marx is also working on adding interactive exhibits and simulators to inspire future aviators.

Open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (and weekends by appointment), the museum also hosts school field trips, welcomes seniors for nostalgia-fueled tours, and holds private events for up to 50 people. Whether you’re a lifelong flier or just a dreamer with your head in the clouds, a visit to the Aviation Museum on the Beach is a journey through the delightful history of air travel. 790 Ocean Walk Suite 402, Juno Beach; aviationmuseumonthebeach.com; 561.925.5380 ❖

Jupiter Farms resident Leslie Bosson is helping locals create thriving, custom edible gardens so they can live a healthier, more sustainable life filled with homegrown food

Former big-city architect Leslie Bosson was yearning for a more tranquil lifestyle. After spending years in bustling cities like Miami and Los Angeles, she decided to put down roots in Jupiter Farms in 2019, where she and her family strive to live a sustainably healthy life. Bosson and her husband, Enrique Gutierrez, are raising their young son alongside chickens that lay fresh eggs and plants that nourish their bodies. “Growing your own food is one of the simplest, most powerful ways to participate in sustainability,” she says. Bosson’s passion for gardening eventually evolved into profit this past January when she founded the wellness-driven edible garden design company Palm Beach Kitchen Gardens. Through PB Kitchen Gardens, Bosson works with homeowners, property managers, and

chefs throughout Palm Beach and Martin counties to design, plant, and maintain inground and container gardens. No yard is too large or windowsill too small for a garden customized to a client’s culinary desires.

Bosson says she was inspired to start the biz so she could share the transformative power of plants with others. “Gardening has been a huge help in managing my anxiety and depression,” she says. “I let the world go quiet and am just present in the garden, receiving plant medicine, which balances hormones and releases serotonin. It’s soothing, meditative, and promotes a sense of peacefulness. At Palm Beach Kitchen Gardens, we try to create beautiful, healing spaces that can support mental health and a deeper connection to your body and food.”

medicinal teas. To that end, the team includes a staff dietitian who collaborates with clients and private chefs to select plants for a homeowner’s garden that address specific dietary needs and health goals.

Palm Beach Kitchen Gardens also supports biodiversity by attracting pollinators to nosh on nectar. “I see myself as an advocate for the bees and the butterflies,” Bosson says.

When working with a new client, Bosson and her team of permaculture-certified designers assess site conditions and recommend plants that will thrive depending on factors like climate, temperature, soil type, wind, and salinity of the air. The goal is to create a fully functional kitchen garden that sprouts nutrient-rich vegetables, fruits, and herbs clients can use in home cooking and

Below ground, red wiggler worms do their part, breaking down organic matter to provide nutrient-rich soil. To limit water usage, Bosson installed drip systems on the property, as well as micro-emitters on timers that have rain sensors for drought-friendly irrigation solutions.

A certified permaculture teacher, Bosson plans to offer a six- to eight-week permaculture design course later this year to pave the way for others interested in jumping on the kitchen gardening bandwagon. palmbeachkitchengardens.com ❖

LOCAL TEEN ALEXA ISABEL LASANTA IS READY TO TAKE HER ACTING CAREER TO NEW HEIGHTS

Alexa Isabel Lasanta’s theater career started in a “mommy and me” class.

“The singing teacher reached out to my mom and said, ‘Your kid is really good at memorizing things—she should audition for a show at this local theater,’” recalls the Jupiter teen. That local theater was none other than the esteemed Wick Theatre & Costume Museum in Boca Raton, and the show was The Sound of Music. Lasanta auditioned and landed one of the musical’s lead children’s roles: young Gretl von Trapp. She was 6 years old. “That was the start of everything,” says Lasanta, now 18. “I loved it immediately.”

By the time she graduated from the Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts this past May, Lasanta had more than a decade of acting experience under her belt. After her debut at the Wick,

she began actively auditioning. When she was 8, she earned a spot on the national Broadway tour of The Sound of Music, traveling with the show for 10 months. Her favorite performance thus far was in a production of Annie, in which she had the starring role.

Regionally, Lasanta has acted in shows at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, Zoetic Stage in Miami, and Slow Burn Theatre in Fort Lauderdale. During her senior year at Dreyfoos, she landed the role of Janet in the school’s production of The Drowsy Chaperone and played Val Clark in A Chorus Line (she was also the dance captain and assistant choreographer for the show).

This past spring, Lasanta was awarded the prestigious Jack Zink Memorial Student Scholarship from The Carbonell Awards, an organization that fosters artistic growth in South Florida. Recipients are selected based on talent, experience, and demonstrated commitment to either theater or journalism. Only one winner is selected in each of the participating counties, and this year, Lasanta was the sole recipient in Palm Beach County. She plans to use the scholarship to pursue musical theater at the University of Oklahoma. In June, she was also honored as the Outstanding Featured Female Dancer at the Kravis Center Dream Awards, which celebrate excellence in high school musical theater.

After college, Lasanta has her sights set on New York City. “My dream role of all time is probably Elle Woods in Legally Blonde— I love that show!” she says. “I’d also love to do A Chorus Line again, but playing Diana Morales. Broadway, for me, is the ultimate goal.”

Pursuit Happiness of

Before Robert Neher returns to Grand Bahama to entertain guests at his fly-fishing lodge, he’s enjoying the last days of relaxation at home in Jupiter with a little help from his Pursuit S 328

The frantic pace needed to operate an elite tropical fly-fishing lodge requires the kind of grit and determination that will wear down the resolve of anyone not fully committed to success for all of their guests. Just ask Robert Neher, proprietor of East End Lodge in McLean’s Town, Grand Bahama. This premier bonefishing destination operates at full capacity from fall through late spring, with Neher at the helm.

Neher’s commitment to hard work was never more evident than in 2019. After the lodge suffered devastating losses at the whim of

Hurricane Dorian, Neher decided to rebuild and keep forging ahead. Anyone willing to work this hard certainly learns to appreciate the value of some time off.

When the busy fishing season tapers off and the lodge closes for the summer, Neher recharges his batteries at home in Jupiter with friends and family aboard his Pursuit S 328. Dividing his time equally between relaxing afternoons at the local sandbar, casual cruising,

ADVENTURE CHOOSE YOUR OWN

EPIC EXPERIENCES ABOUND AT UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT’S NEWEST THEME PARK

As visitors approach the Chronos portal—the gateway to Universal Epic Universe—they’re greeted with these words: “Beyond this gate find gardens green and epic worlds to fill your dreams.” It’s a big promise, but one that Epic Universe

more than fulfills across dozens of attractions designed to inspire guests of all ages to write their own heroic tales.

Epic Universe opened May 22 and is Universal Orlando Resort’s fourth official theme park, joining the ranks of Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay. At its center is Celestial Park, a cosmosinspired realm that possesses both the romantic aura of New York’s Central Park and a new-age charm drawn from various astronomical, astrological, and mythological references. Its primary attraction is Stardust Racers, a thrilling dual-launch racing coaster that reaches speeds of 62 mph and heights of 133 feet.

As one of five “immersive worlds,” Celestial Park serves as the nucleus of Epic Universe. From here, you must pass through four themed portals to access the others.

Those who grew up racing on Rainbow Road, battling Bowser, and exploring Peach’s Castle should head straight for Super Nintendo World, where a variety of interactive elements span two lands (one being the first U.S. iteration of Donkey Kong Country). Purchase a Power-Up Band to fully engage with them all, including punching Mystery Blocks to collect digital coins. Everyone can become part of the action on Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, which uses AR and projection mapping

technology to put you on the track alongside Mario and his friends. A different kind of magic awaits in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Ministry of Magic. In this third installment of Universal’s Harry Potter–themed lands, muggles can attend the trial of Dolores Umbridge in the Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry ride and travel back to the 1920s to stroll the streets of Place Cachée, a

hidden shopping district in wizarding Paris. Sample a Butterbeer Crêpe, catch a circus show featuring characters from the Fantastic Beasts films, or choose a wand and use it to cast spells around Place Cachée. There are plenty of fantastic beasts to discover at Epic’s two other worlds: Dark Universe and How to Train Your Dragon Isle of Berk. At the latter, walk among Vikings and spot dragons in their natural habitats. You can even meet—and pet—Toothless the Night Fury dragon.

In Dark Universe, an electrifying portal gives way to Darkmoor, a modern-day village whose progress has been stunted by its near-constant encounters with monsters. This world pays homage to Universal’s pioneering role within the horror genre, so nods to such classic monsters as Dracula and Frankenstein can be seen everywhere—from the Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment

Talk of the Town

Annie Santulli, one of Palm Beach’s most sought-after interior designers, knows the challenges of designing a vacation home from a distance. Did you know that buyers can initiate the design process earlier? Hesitant buyers can request a consultation with a designer to explore possibilities during the purchasing process. With over 20 years of experience, Santulli can personally evaluate, design, and manage the project. Her involvement begins as soon as the real estate broker’s job concludes—and sometimes even before.

CHEF TIM NICKEY: Best Chef in Jupiter

Chef Tim Nickey made the move to South Florida from Philadelphia 25 years ago and quickly became a force on the local culinary scene. The Palm City resident worked in the kitchens at eateries including Abe & Louie’s, Morton’s, Kapow! Noodle Bar, and Lucky Shuck before being tapped to open Jupiter’s Blackbird Modern Asian in 2022, where he is the executive chef. The popular restaurant—owned by Three Amigos Hospitality Group, where Nickey is also a partner—opened a second location in Naples this past June. And to keep himself plenty busy, Nickey also serves as corporate chef for PapiChulo Tacos (in Jupiter and Royal Palm Beach), all while raising two young sons with his wife, Lenia. Says Nickey of being chosen by readers as one of the top chefs in the area: “I spent most of my career in Miami, so it’s a great feeling to have such love and support up here, where I’ve worked and lived for over a decade.” @chefnickey93; blackbirdmodernasian.com; papichulotacos.com

Nickey’s cooking mantra:

Food should delight the eye as much as the palate, which I achieve by melding bold, luscious flavors and ingredients with an artful presentation.

Top 5 favorite ingredients to infuse into creative dishes:

Ginger root, sambal, shiso, Thai basil, XO sauce

Describe the cuisine at Blackbird in three words: Innovative, elegant, nostalgic.

Favorite dish at Blackbird:

Our Peking duck—moist, perfectly crispy, and it takes three days to prepare.

Bestseller on the menu: Mongolian brisket bao buns.

Craziest kitchen moment:

It was more funny than crazy, but when I was executive chef at China Grill in South Beach, a huge opossum wandered into the dry storage at the back of the kitchen and wouldn’t leave willingly, so I had to use a broom to “escort” it back onto 5th Street.

Dream dinner guest you’d love to cook for:

Roy Yamaguchi. His unique approach to food and the spirit of his restaurants have deeply influenced how I cook and create.

On the horizon:

We plan to launch our third PapiChulo Tacos location, in Palm City, next summer. —Michelle Lee Ribeiro

LYNORA’S PALM CITY: BEST NEW RESTAURANT ON THE TREASURE COAST

COURTESYOFLYNORA

With deep roots and big flavor, Lynora’s isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a family legacy served on a plate. A visit to Lynora’s is like walking into decades of South Florida history—and a whole lot of love.

This beloved Italian restaurant started as a tiny Lake Worth pizza shop. Armed with Nonna Lynora’s recipes and a fierce work ethic, Maria and Raffaele Abbenante opened the shop in 1976 after immigrating from the island of Ponza. “Some of my earliest memories are of falling asleep on the banquettes while my parents worked late into the night,” says their son, Angelo, who now carries the torch and has turned the family dream into a flavorful South Florida legacy. “It all started with simple, authentic dishes made from scratch—and those same recipes are still used in our kitchens today,” he says. “My mom is often still in the back cooking, just like she was all those years ago.”

The Palm City location, which opened in January, is the sixth in the Lynora’s family. “Palm City has a strong sense of community and a growing demand for authentic Italian food, so it was the perfect place to bring the Lynora’s experience,” says Abbenante. Flavorful dishes like the signature meatballs with housemade ricotta, pasticcio crepe-style lasagna, rigatoni alla vodka, wood-fired pizzas, and mussels en crusta (fresh mussels sealed under a golden crust) keep locals coming back for more.

Says Abbenante: “We pour our hearts into every dish. Food is in our family’s blood, and carrying on what my parents built while putting my own touch on it has been one of the most meaningful parts of my life.” lynoras.com —Sarah Wolf

DISTRICT TABLE & BAR: Best Craft CoCktails on the treasure Coast

Step behind the bar with us as we chat with Louis Mohr, bar program and front of house manager at District Table & Bar in Stuart. From crafting cocktails that dazzle to pairing unexpected flavors, this drink slinger knows how to stir up a good time. @lbmcocktails; districttableandbar.com

Which signature cocktail truly captures District’s whole vibe in a glass?

What makes District so special is our ability to blend the familiar with the unexpected—a beautiful mix of fond memories and bold new adventures. So I’d definitely say the Kitchen Fire cocktail, which is an unexpected twist on the ever-familiar Old Fashioned. It’s got a touch of spice from ancho chili liqueur, a measured sweetness from local honey, a hearty pour of bourbon, and just enough bitterness to pull everything into focus.

Your favorite and/or most unique craft cocktail to make?

The daiquiri was one of the first classic cocktails that really resonated with me— simple in structure but incredibly beautiful when executed well. While it’s classically just three ingredients, there’s so much room for creativity. You can swap out the sugar for different cordials or liqueurs to reshape the flavor profile or split the rum base to highlight specific characteristics, whether that’s funky, vegetal notes, or rich, caramel depth. It’s a true blank canvas.

Describe your dream cocktail in three words.

“Your cheapest tequila.” Just kidding—I'd actually have to say, “the perfect Negroni.”

Name an ingredient you really love using in cocktails.

Honestly, as simple as it sounds, my favorite cocktail ingredient has to be salt. Just like food needs seasoning, so do cocktails. Salt brightens every other flavor and helps bring more distant notes into focus. It has a way of clarifying the overall profile—it unmuddies the muddy.

What

about seasonal ingredients?

Right now, I’m especially into watermelon. We’ve been using it in our Rosebud cocktail, which was inspired by those perfect, slow afternoons by the pool. The drink combines fresh watermelon with rose water, lemon, Waterloo No. 9 gin, and a touch of velvet Falernum for balance. We finish it with a few drops of basil oil, which adds a bright, herbaceous note that really ties everything together.

Rapid fire: Shaken or stirred? Citrus or bitters? Sunrise or nightcap? Garnish or go naked?

Stirred. Bitters. Nightcap. Garnish. —Sarah Wolf

TIDE & TABLE:

Best Home Decor in tHe Jupiter AreA

When Tide & Table opened its doors in Tequesta back in December 2018, it wasn’t just a home decor shop, it was a dream brought to life. Inspired by a love for coastal living and warm, welcoming spaces, Darlene O’Donnell left behind the spreadsheets of her accounting career and leaned into her longtime creative outlet—designing and creating warm and welcoming spaces for her family and friends to enjoy. She opened Tide & Table, and the shop quickly became a go-to for locals looking to infuse their homes with the comfort, allure, and distinctly local personality of the Jupiter area.

The store name says it all: “The ‘Tide’ represents the coastal aesthetic that we all love so much,” O’Donnell says. “I am constantly inspired by the colors and beauty of our coast, and our style reflects seaside living with thoughtful touches that feel personal and inviting.” She adds: “The ‘Table’ part of the name

represents the heart of the home, where we gather with family and friends. Together, it’s about bringing the beauty of our coastal life into the heart of our home.”

Tide & Table does more than sell; it helps its customers tell a story within their homes. O’Donnell has a passion for helping clients find their personal style and a knack for curating timeless, well-crafted pieces. “We can work with our customers to completely customize their furniture pieces such as their sofa or sectional, swivels, and even window treatments using the fabrics from our in-store design center,” she says. “If we can help inspire our community to create their own sanctuary at home, then we have achieved our mission.”

This Tequesta treasure proves that creating your dream space starts with a little inspiration—and perhaps a really great candle. tideandtablehome.com

Stuart resident Jason Montero has long been a regular on the local music scene, playing at all the hot venues both solo and with his various bands—Bad Habits, Sour Mash, and the Jason Montero Trio. His latest album, Inside Out, was released last year. We sat down for a quick chat with the Best Of 2025 winner. @jasemontero; jasonmontero.com

Most requested song over the years: “Brown Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison.

Strangest song request?

I received a napkin once asking me to play “Amie” [by Pure Prairie League] for someone’s daughter who had been kidnapped and returned. That was pretty wild.

My heart is in the 1970s, singer/songwriters like Cat Stevens and Neil Young.

Guitar hero:

I’ve never had that many guitar heroes, but at the end of the day, it’s Lindsey Buckingham. I saw him play an acoustic solo performance in Fort Pierce, and it was magic. He’s like from another planet.

Favorite song to play:

Usually, it’s the one I’m learning or have just learned. There are some songs I’ve known for 30 years, and when I finally crack the code on playing them, it’s so exciting.

Favorite decade in the world of design:

I love the 1930s, brands like Biedermeier, and I love restoring furniture.

Design trend you love to hate:

Gray was a trending color that I was happy to kiss goodbye. Now we’re back to the whites and creams, which make for a great canvas.

Dream celebrity client:

I’m not very starstruck, but I would love to see Dolly Parton’s home. I just can’t imagine what it would look like.

Oddest design project: I once did an upholstery job on a submarine.

Hardest NO—shag carpeting, metallic wallpaper, velvet sofas, beanbag chairs, or La-Z-Boy recliners: La-Z-Boy recliners. Yuck!

AT HOOKED ON JUPITER, LOCALLY CAUGHT SEAFOOD COMBINED WITH INNOVATIVE RECIPES IS THE NAME OF THE GAME

If the name Arthur Rivaldo sounds familiar, that’s because he was the original owner of Hog Snappers in Tequesta. Rivaldo and his wife, Melanie Vazquez, owned the local hot spot from 2008 to 2018 before selling the restaurant and moving to Pennsylvania to be closer to family. Now Rivaldo has a new eatery in town: Hooked On Jupiter.

Much of the menu is seafood-centric (thus the name), and Rivaldo and Cavaliere source their fresh seafood from New England

Wholesale Fish & Lobster in Stuart. “We get our seafood from local waters because nothing beats the flavor of just-caught fish,” says Rivaldo. “It’s better for you, tastes amazing, and supports our local fishermen.”

Fun fact: many of the dishes are named for Rivaldo and Cavaliere’s spouses and children—like the popular Matteo by the Beach, named after Cavaliere’s son. Rivaldo describes the dish: “In Colombia, they have tiny restaurants along the beach, and they feed you fish they catch in the morning with coconut rice, avocado salad, and plantains on a metal sheet tray. They usually do the whole fish, but we’re doing filet.”

spices to create innovative flavors. “I take Japanese, Italian, French, and Indian cuisines and make them my own,” says Rivaldo, who was trained at The French Culinary Institute in New York. “If you ask me, ‘What kind of cuisine are you doing?’ I’m doing Arthur’s cuisine. You can’t compare it with anything else because this is coming out of my head.”

Rivaldo oversees operations from Pennsylvania and is the creative mastermind behind all the recipes. He likes to mix basic ingredients and

To that end, Rivaldo has a unique way of serving sushi—inspired by ballpark franks. After rolling the sushi into a cylinder, he slices it longways to resemble a hot dog bun. Then he stuffs it with fillings such as tuna, lobster salad, crab, cucumber, and avocado to make a “sushi hot dog.”

While the seafood is certainly the star of the show, Hooked also serves non-seafood options like filet mignon, a Cubano sandwich, and chicken curry tacos, plus salads, soups, and more. And the in-house pastry chef creates some truly decadent desserts like the Hooked On Chocolate (layered chocolate mousse cake with raspberry mezcal crémeaux, chocolate ganache, milk Chantilly, and coffee crumbles) and A Taste of Paradise (baked custard with Coruba Jamaican rum, white chocolate whipped ganache, vanilla tuile, orange meringue, and fresh raspberry and blackberry). Smaller dessert portions served in shot glasses are also available.

Hooked offers frozen soups to go, craft cocktails and mocktails, wine, and beer as well as Sunday brunch and live music on Fridays. The 4,850-square-foot space, which was previously occupied by Casa Mia Trattoria & Pizzeria, seats nearly 175 between the bar, indoor dining area, private room, and patio. 337 E. FORT PIERCE RESIDENT JEFF MICHAEL GROTH BRINGS HIS AWARD-WINNING MINNESOTA WINGS—AND A WHOLE LOT MORE—TO STUART

Award-winning chicken wings from Minnesota have landed in Stuart, at J. Michael’s Tavern & Grille. When owner Jeff Michael Groth was based in his home state, the signature wings enjoyed a fouryear winning streak at the Minnesota State Fair. Now Floridians can savor the flavor at J. Michael’s, which opened in the Riverside Shoppes near the Roosevelt Bridge this past April.

“I want people to come in and say, ‘These are the best wings I’ve ever had,’” says Groth, who teases that the recipe is a secret he’ll take to the grave. After 50 years in the food biz, the serial restaurateur says he attempted to retire but got antsy. The 66-yearold Fort Pierce resident decided to resurrect his J. Michael’s brand, which debuted in 1985 in Minnesota and grew to 14 locations in multiple states. After the last one closed down in 2002, the brand remained dormant until now.

The tasty wings come with a variety of sauce and rub

options, including honey garlic, Jamaican, teriyaki, and barbecue, and can be ordered by 8, 16, or 6 (during happy hour).

Other menu items include handhelds like The Legend, a grilled roast beef sandwich with pepper jack cheese and tomato on a jumbo croissant, which Groth says has been around since the eatery’s inception.

Another popular handheld is the grilled cheese sandwich with homemade bean chili served on Texas toast.

On the specialty menu, a new dish pays homage to Groth’s German ancestry: the chicken schnitzel, available as a sandwich or a platter, has become the restaurant’s bestseller. The breaded, deep-fried chicken breast with lemon aioli comes with a choice of two sides, like homemade pasta, potato salad, coleslaw, and out-of-the-ordinary fries. “It’s called a swirl fry,” says Groth, who uses a mandoline to slice a baked potato, which is then breaded and deep-fried to perfection.

Outside on the patio, guests can enjoy frozen drinks and margaritas, plus a variety of martinis—like the Ava Marie’tini, named for Groth’s neighbor and featuring citron vodka, pomegranate simple syrup, and lemon juice. Or try the frisky Porn Star Martini, made with vanilla vodka, passion fruit, simple syrup, and prosecco.

Groth revamped the interior with a charcoal gray ceiling, brick-motif walls, and a display of his personal sports and music memorabilia. There is live music on the weekends and more than 20 TVs to watch games, but Groth says he leans toward a mellow vibe, with the volume low enough for guests to hold a conversation. 715 NW Federal Hwy., Stuart; jmichaelstng.com; 772.261.8002 ❖

From above: J. Michael’s wings were voted best wings at the Minnesota State Fair four years in a row; inside J. Michael’s in Stuart; handhelds can be ordered with special “swirl fries.”
