EAT DRINK NOURISH

Vowing to Eat VEGAN?

Whether you’re devoted to veganism or you occasionally dabble in its many health benefits, we’ve rounded up a list of vegan-friendly spots that should be at the top of your list

PS GREEN VEGAN EXPRESS Newer to town is PS Green Vegan Express in Oakland Park, led by CEO, chef, and owner José Pablo Luque, who’s helped open restaurants including El Cielo and Holy Vegan Kitchen. The airy eatery is outfitted with potted plants and a clean aesthetic, allowing the veganfocused food to take center stage. The barbecue jackfruit sandwich (topped with coleslaw, pickled onions, avocado, and chipotle mayo) or the mole tacos (chick’n served in a chocolate-chili sauce) make for good lunch options. Classic brunch staples like brioche French toast finished with agave, strawberries, and bananas, and the Breakfast SW Burrito (scrambled tofu with onions, peppers, black beans, and vegan cheese) are also excellent choices. VEGAN FINE FOODS We can thank longtime vegan Dr. Steven Smith for Vegan Fine Foods in Fort Lauderdale. Since opening in 2018, this one-stop shop has become a neighborhood staple for vegans and nonvegans alike. Shop 100-percent plant-based goodies for the whole family or spend Sunday morning sipping coffee and delighting in fresh, vegan croissants, doughnuts, empanadas, and more. (veganfinefoods.com)

SOBE VEGAN You can finally enjoy a vegan-approved milkshake and burger thanks to SoBe Vegan at the W Fort Lauderdale. This fast-casual outpost offers a comprehensive menu of everyone’s favorite American dishes prepared healthily. Think: five mouthwatering burgers (we recommend the provolone or classic cheddar), an array of salads and bowls (that can be topped with buffalo “chicken,” for example), french fries, and gooey macaroni and cheese that’ll leave you wanting seconds. SoBe Vegan also offers all-day breakfast for those who crave avocado toast and bacon and cheese sandwiches even in the afternoon. Save room for a strawberry shake, because when has that ever been a bad idea? (sobev.com)
