ABOUT VNUF
The Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF) was established under the Prime Minister’s Decision No.127/CP dated 19th August 1964, and located in Dong Trieu District, Quang Ninh Province. In 1984, the University was relocated to Xuan Mai Town, Chuong My District, Hanoi Capital.
Main Campus
More than 70 classrooms, 79 laboratories in 7 centers, 4 workshops, and 1 biodiversity center with thousands of biological specimens spread over 27 hectares.
More than 100 hectare experimental forest with more than 300 native tree species provides a unique natural laboratory for university staff and students' research projects.
A library covering an area of 2,200 m2 contains over 9,600 books and 6,500 undergraduate and graduate thesis.
A sport complex with an artificial grass soccer field, multi-purpose sports hall, swimming pool, gym, and student square for students’ outdoor activities.
A newly constructed eleven-story dormitory and 13 three and four-story dormitories with furnished rooms averaging about 23 square meters.
Dong Nai Campus
In 2016, the Dong Nai Campus was placed under the Ministry of Education and Training’s Decision No.4213/QĐ-BGDĐT dated 5
October 2016, based on upgrading the Second campus of VNUF which was originally established on 28 January 2008.
Gia Lai Campus
In 2020, the Gia Lai campus was established under Decision No. 2020/QD-BGDĐT of the Minister of Education and Training.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Since 1964, VNUF has trained nearly 50,000 undergraduates, more than 6,000 graduate students and PhDs. The university has also trained over 450 international students at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Currently more than 12,000 students are studying at the university in 21 undergraduate programs, 11 master programs, and 6 doctoral programs. The university is striving to become a multi-disciplinary and multi-sector university on par with universities in the region and the world by offering the advanced programs developed in cooperation with institutions in the America and Europe. 12. SCIENCE AND TECHONOLOGY
The scientific research and technological transfer activities at VNUF focus on applying hi-tech solutions for solving the actual issues in the forestry, natural resources and environmental fields, and in preventing natural disasters, mitigating climate change impacts, and contributing to the sustainable socio-economic development of the country.
In the period of 2015 to 2021, VNUF has implemented 18 State-level projects; 24 ministerial-level projects, 8 provincial/city-level projects, and over 230 grassroots (university-level) researches. Some scientific and technical products have been widely applied in practical production, actively contributing to the scientific development of forestry, agriculture and rural development.

Vietnam National University of Forestry has cooperated with more than 140 universities and research institutes from the USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Russia, Finland, the Netherlands, Australia, Spain, Belgium, France, Italy, South Korea, China, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Laos and with international organizations such as FAO, UNDP, WB, IUCN, FFI, CIFOR, WWF, ITTO, JICA, ICRAF, GIZ, DAAD, KOICA.etc..

The university has successfully organized many international conferences, workshops, training courses and seminars in which many international experts participated and co-chaired. Annually, VNUF receives about 200 international experts, lecturers and students who come to work, teach and confer at VNUF.
VNUF has implemented many international programs and projects, financially supported from the WB, ABD, JICA, EU, DAAD, BMBF etc.,.
INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
The University has trained more than 400 international students, mainly from Asian countries (Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia…).
In collaboration with Colorado State University (USA), VNUF has developed an undergraduate program in Natural Resources Management taught in English. VNUF’s International Master’s program on Tropical Forestry was implemented in collaboration with Göttingen University and Technical University-Dresden (Germany).
The Faculty of Forestry was established in October 1956. It was one of the four faculties of Hanoi University of Agriculture and Forestry (now Vietnam National University of Agriculture).
The Faculty of Forestry is the forerunner and key faculty of VNUF with a history of over 65 years of development.
The Faculty has established the international cooperation in training, academic exchange, and research with other universities from USA, Japan, Germany, Canada, Australia, China… and with many international organizations.
Science and Technology:
The Faculty is involved in research and the deployment of a number of research projects at the State, Ministerial, and grassroots levels. Researchers have the ongoing cooperation of forestry enterprises and companies for exchanging students, staff, and technology.
