New London

2019 LITTLE CROW SKI TEAM PRESENTS...

CROW COUNTY

Works

The oldest town in Kandiyohi County, New London is located on the shores of the Middle Fork of the Crow River. The “City on the Pond” had its pioneer beginnings in 1850, when Louis Larson discovered a waterfall while out on a trapping expedition and visualized a mill. He later took homestead on a large piece of land which includes most of present day New London and later named the place for his old hometown – New London, Wisconsin. The town mill started in 1865 and continued in operation for 73 years until it was acquired by the federal government in 1938 and removed. To this day, the Mill Pond remains a scenic center for the town and is a great spot to cast a line. Vacationers and locals alike can enjoy shopping on historic Main Street, local theatre productions, and strolling through art galleries while visiting New London, also home to the Little Crow Ski Team and the annual Water Days. (Information from the New London, Minnesota website and the Kandiyohi County Historical Society.)
