There are many beliefs and values that determine how we live and who we are. We learn these throughout life from experiences and values that we know and acquire. These values can play a key part on how we view ourselves and the world around us. One of the many values that I have taken on is you are responsible for your own happiness. This can mean many things such as putting yourself before others sometimes, or only living once, or believing in yourself. This phrase can have many associations with it that will guide you through life. Being responsible for your own happiness is a very powerful thing that can help you grow as a person and to help others. You can change a situation because you have the power and no one else. No on else can take that away from you. I believe that this life philosophy has changed how I view my life and what I learn from it. For example, I have gone through some tough...show more content...

If you are in charge of your own happiness, then you are in charge of your actions. Many of those actions can include taking a risk and living in the moment. In order to experience life and live it to the fullest then sometimes we have to get out of our comfort zone. We need to be vulnerable and open to new things. New things can be exciting and challenging. This can lead to feeling many emotions including happiness. Not everything in life is going to be easy but if you determine how you are going to feel then you will be able to live a more fulfilling life. Your happiness is key in determining how you live your life. This is how you bounce back from hard times and how you go about living. Resilience is a powerful act that we obtain. This involves a process of dealing with everything and all the emotions and bouncing back. You decide whether you are going to be sad or happy about the situation that you were placed in. That decision will determine your life and will change

My Life Philosophy

Jamie Conwell 10/8/12 Philosophy Of Life Essay We all seek happiness, simple as that. We as a human race desperately strive to be something, to prosper, to be revered and if nothing else to be noticed. But to what point? Happiness isn't about the fame, the fortune, the money or the amount of things we possess, for those things will eventually run out. We should live our lives to the fullest for life is short, yet ever so precious. My life philosophy is centered around three things; three things that greatly govern my life, and the way I go about living it: be who you are, not who everyone else wants you to be, work hard to achieve your goals, and never take your friends for granted, for true friends will be with you for life. Nothing in our world is easy to achieve, which is the way it should be. In order to pursue our life long goals we must be willing to sacrifice what we want at the moment for what we want in the future. Although they come and go, friends have a significant part in your life. As I have watched some of my closest friends turn their backs on me, I have grown closer to people I never thought I would have acquainted myself with. As I have watched other people's relationships with their

I can remember as a child always asking myself the "why" questions of life. Why are we here? What is the purpose of life? Why do certain things happen? And is there really a God? I had always kept these questions to myself and eventually pushed them out of my mind altogether. I was raised in a Christian household and you just were not allowed to ask questions of that nature and doubt the faith. The world is the way it is because God made it that way and that is all there is to it. I was really excited to take this class because it would finally give me the opportunity to exercise my personal thoughts and beliefs. I have come to agree with Socrates that "the unexamined life is not worth living." In my opinion life is a combination of...show more content...

I am entering the medical field; so all the science courses I have taken have led me to believe that science is the answer. However, after taking this course I have realized that science can only take their answers just so far. There are some issues that science is unable to explain, like the existence of God. This is where philosophy enters. Philosophy continues further and attempts to give us logical explanations. Although science does continue to intrigue me, I do choose to accept that science does give us some answers. We learn from experience. Growing up we test this very often. If you put your hand over a flame you figure out that it is hot and you never try to touch it again. A fire will always be hot. There is no way around it. The chemicals and such that are involved will always react the same way it will produce heat. This is why I like the scientific method. It takes hypothesis and tests them over and over again until they come to a consistent answer or explanation. Although science does not give all the answers through empirical explanation, I turn to Philosophy for the rest. To lead a happy and fulfilling life, I believe we should all discover our own philosophy of life. Exercising the ability to rationally use our thinking and reasoning abilities is essential. We should all strive to be honest, good people and live our lives as well and happy as possible. Through experience we learn about ourselves and the world around us. I still have

I don't know what I will write to perfectly state my philosophy, but I think I just want to express my deepest thoughts to my past experience. Since this is philosophy then there is no wrong in expressing my thoughts as well as my ideas. And, I know this is kind a bit clichГ© to open up a topic like this but this is what I see, and view myself in the experienced I had. I hope this will be confidential and I hope you will consider my idea.

What I had wasn't out of convenience. I received so much shit from people telling me that I was fooling myself, that I was only looking for a temporary source of happiness, and that ultimately, I was courting heartbreak while we were seeing each other every day in Philosophy class. I believed he was the boy, but it wasn't the right time. We wanted different things and had different dreams. I had to make a choice. The whole point of being in a relationship is to help each other grow as individuals. But what we had was the exact opposite. I never knew exactly who or what I...show more content...

(This too shall pass!!!). We might be experiencing this kind of sorrow, hatred at this moment but everything will be fine. The best thing to do is just to remain silent and smile. Trust in the right timing and never forget fill yourself up with kindness and joy. I believe that everyone goes through an experience in their life where we meet a person that leaves an imprint, for whatever reason this person is unforgettable, irreplaceable, and relentlessly ingrained in our mind. No matter what we do or how much time has passed or how many people we have dated, they are still there and will always be there forever. They will always be a part of us, a part that we will alwayslove. So to conclude it; I decided to be selfish and ultimately chose myself and my happiness. Trust in the right timing and never forget to fill yourself up with kindness and

This responsibility includes those of the personal and social nature. On a personal level, we have to take care of ourselves and stay healthy and happy individuals. Socially I strongly believe in the saying, do unto others, as you would like them to do unto you. Abiding by this rule helps society to operate as smoothly as possible without too much conflict. Besides, it is not worth any minute of our shirt lifetime to be unhappy or rude. We as humans are able to make conscious, individual choice and take responsibility for our actions, beliefs, feelings and attitudes. And I believe that we need to exercise these abilities.

Learn from past experiences, mature and move on. Forgive everyone for everything because you never know what can happen later today or tomorrow. Forget your differences with others because not everyone is the same, they are all unique people who are valuable in your life. You meet everyone for a reason, it could be to help put together the puzzle, or help you find those missing, imperfect pieces. Live life for yourself, don't think about what is right for everyone else because you are the one who has to live life with the consequences. Be who you are and not what others want you to become, you are a unique individuals who deserves nothing but the best. Life is an experience that should be fun, not depressing. This life is yours and no one else's, so live how you want to so that the puzzle can put itself together with no missing pieces.

Knowing yourself

Self–knowledge is an important aspect in life. It is also one of the hardest tasks because you constantly question your judgement. Trying to find out who you are, what you want, and how you can go about doing it, takes time. You are who you are, and nobody can change anything about you. You know yourself, your limits and goals so you

"All that I'm after is a life full of laughter" (Life After You– Daughtry). Everyone has their own personal outlook on life. Some people feel like money and success bring them happiness, others feel like love is all they need. As Aristotle once said, "Happiness is believed to be the most desirable thing in the world..." (Aristotle) Everyone wants different things. I however, feel like you don't need a lot to be happy in life, it's the little things that count. You cannot look for love, love finds you. It is unexpected and seems unrealistic, but once I encountered what love really was everything changed. All of a sudden nothing else seems to matter; your priorities, your thoughts, and your actions all become about this person. Youwant to do everything to make them happy, and if they are then you are to. Once you find someone who you can share anything with and who makes you feel as if you have everything in the world and you don't need anything else, thats love. That is what I think helps you reach your ultimate happiness, having that person who you can share your life with. To see other people pleased puts a smile on my face. I think everyone needs help getting through hard times and problems throughout their lives, and helping people overcome their obstacles helps me reach my ultimate happiness. Everyone goes through road blocks in their lives. Whether they are small and they don't know what boy to date, or big where they lost someone close to them, people need help making decision and going on in life. I enjoy listening to peoples problems, I enjoy putting them before myself and going out of my way to make sure the people I love and the people who need me are happy. This is what should bring happiness into everyones life. Knowing I just helped someone conquer a predicament or help them through a tough situation makes me feel like I mean something to the Get more content
