The Japanese teppanyaki restaurant chain ‘Misono’ first tapped into the commercial potential of teppanyaki cooking in 1945. ‘Misono’ became world famous when TEPPANYAKI & SUSHI BAR local chefs paired entertainment with food in juggling condiments and creating ‘flaming onion volcanoes’ a popular dish at many teppanyaki restaurants today.

Teppanyaki is a style of Japanese cuisine that used an iron griddle to cook food. The word teppanyaki is derived from teppan ( ), which means iron plate, and yaki ( ) which means grilled, broiled, or pan fried.
