Remember the old-time revivals of yesteryear? Although we may show our age here, join with me in thinking back to childhood experiences that hopefully, we have in common. We’re talking old-fashioned, rafter-rattling, devil-defying, soul-saving, life-transforming, Christ-exalting, Holy Ghost, revival meetings! Everyone who went, as well as the community, benefited from the

restoring experience with renewed hope for the future, inspiration in life and encouragement to fulfill our purpose and destiny. And a sense of goodwill and respect for ourselves and others. I believe that is EXACTLY what we need right now! But, with a twist!

Remember that traditional revivals entailed a church congregation inviting an outsider in to preach and teach.

C

hlois Dean “C.D.” Smith, 72 of Lubbock passed away on July 19, 2019. A visitation was held Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Sanders Funeral Home, his services were held Friday, July 26, 2019 in Sanders Memorial Chapel.

C.D. was born on January 24, 1947 in Del Rio, Texas. His parents were Melvin Dean Smith and Martha Elizabeth Smith. He called Lubbock his home, where he ran his own furniture business, Rustic Furniture Warehouse Sales. C.D. was kind-hearted, giving, supportive and caring. He was a man that always wanted to help others and always looked for the good in everyone.

C.D. was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Bobbie Dean.

Loved ones include two daughters, Paula Badley and Jerrod of Coweta OK, Denise Fuhrman and Fletcher of Cainsville, MO; four grandchildren, Taylor, Garet, Justin and Megan; as well as great grandchildren Wyatt and Copeland; a brother Floyd Wayne Smith and wife Paula of Wolfforth, TX; and two nephews, Grayson and Grant.

He will also be dearly missed by Jerri and the staff of Rustic Furniture. Like everyone else he came in contact with, he deeply touched their lives.

A personal note from the Caprock Patriot… when I started this grand experiment, called the Caprock Patriot, C.D. was my very first customer.

My wife and I moved here and needed barstools for our kitchen. While buying those barstools, I mentioned to C.D. that I was starting a newspaper. Like many, he was skeptical, but asked me to meet with him the next week to share more. When we met, after hearing my idea, he was so very encouraging. He prayed with me that the paper would thrive by doing His will. He’s been a monthly advertiser since that day back in December when all I had to pitch was myself and a crazy idea. Every month he was an encouraging voice about how much we had grown since the previous month and the progress I had made. He was also the very first sponsor to sign up for our October Revival; it was barely a conversation… just, “Count me in”. While I only knew C.D. for nine months, he had a big impact on my life at a very important time. He will be missed. My heart goes out to C.D.’s family and to Jerri and the staff of Rustic Furniture. Liberty, Lawlessness and Patriotism: Where’s Patriotism?

hen our three children were little, we often read to them from the book entitled Where’s Waldo? In the front of the book is a picture of “Waldo.” Waldo is easily recognized when seen without others around him. As the pages are turned however, there are countless other faces on each page. The challenge for the children on each page is to find the true “Waldo” hidden in the crowd. Now, our children as adults can easily spot “Waldo” in the crowds as they turn the pages. However, not so easy for their own little children. So goes the challenge for each successive generation.

In the crowded chaotic lawlessness in America today, where’s the true patriot of liberty? How do we know what they look like? What are the features, principles that we know to be consistent about what true patriots look like so we can identify them as we view each generational page of our culturally crowded chaotic lawlessness? What are the distinguishing characteristics, principles separating liberty and lawlessness that will help us identify

what true American patriotism looks like? How would you define Liberty?

Lawlessness? Patriotism?

For the past several months Paul McArthur, Owner, publisher of the Caprock Patriot Newspaper and I have had an ongoing conversation. In our conversations, we kept circling back to discuss what we believe is the root cause, the core problem in America today for We the People.

Our thoughts? The conflict between liberty, lawlessness, true patriotism has its roots in Authority. The core problem? The origin of authority. Specifically, by what authority and who did they get it from does someone, some entity exercise their right to rule over, control, determine the rights of someone, some entity?

In the lawlessness scenario, authority is determined by who has gained the most power to control, to rule over others, their rights. This standard of authoritarian injustice is considered by those lawless ones in power and control to be just. They believe that authority originates in human nature. They live by the golden rule: he how has the most gold (power and control) rules. There lawlessness motto could be: “In Man

We Trust.” We see this lawlessness played out in the tyranny of majority rule mobocracy of Democracies, Dictatorships, Oligarchies; in Socialism, communism, progressivism and such.

If we believe authority originates within human nature, then human nature subjectively defines, determines the rule of law for what is the just or unjust use of authority. If we believe that authority originates within human nature, then we are only accountable to ourselves. And authority is exercised at will by our own definition of what we believe to be the just use of our authority. The error of this thinking is summarized as: “Authority originates with mankind because we say so.” Everyone exercises authority by what is right in their own eyes.

Our Founding Fathers, Patriarchs and true patriots, rejected the lawlessness of this subjective authoritarianism.

They knew that it never has and never will result in true liberty, patriotism.

to revitalize an individual’s relationship with Christ and the church. For a simple definition: Revival describes an extraordinary effusion of the Holy Spirit upon the children of God. In revival, God manifests His glorious presence. He overwhelms people, and they fall before Him in worship, fear, and adoration. God’s presence permeates all of life.

Big words for sure. But we know that revivals had a big effect on us as kids.

Now as adults, if we’re a Conservative, Christian and Patriotic American, wouldn’t we agree this is exactly what our country needs to wake folks up?

Awakened to confront and conquer the lawlessness of the left. How are we to arm ourselves to combat the lawlessness of the left? By restoring and renewing ourselves to keep Texas red. By building a ‘firewall’ in West Texas that the left cannot penetrate! And how are we to build the “firewall”? REVIVAL! Here’s the twist. Traditionally, a revival is strictly of a religious nature.

Instead, I believe we need a complete 360-degree REVIVAL. We need an effusion REVIVAL like the one that united our Founding Fathers. A REVIVAL

“Freedom & Justice” in Islam Nothing to Do with Liberty & Genuine Respect for People

he United States of America stands as a beacon for the world because its founders understood true equality comes from the self-evident truth that God created all humankind in his likeness and, therefore, we all have inherent value, dignity, and worth.

As creations of the Creator, we all possess unalienable rights which no man nor government can take from us, and neither can we surrender these rights.

America’s founders understood all of this, articulated it in the Declaration of Independence, formed a nation whose foundation was built on these truths, and created a Federal Government to secure Americans’ unalienable rights.

When a society is built on this foundation, liberty/freedom flourishes and justice prevails, producing creativity, growth, and prosperity. Hence, this is the reason America is the most generous, creative, and prosperous nation in the history of the world.

Islam’s doctrine – “Allah’s divine law”/sharia – stands in direct opposition to America’s founding principles.

Guided by its barbaric system – sharia – which does not recognize every human being’s worth nor their inherent rights, Islam calls people to impose this inhumane system of laws on all human beings on the earth. Sharia is a system of slavery and torture which destroys liberty, destroys creativity, destroys the human spirit, and destroys any sense of true justice.

Therefore, in Islam, “Freedom” and “Justice” have very different meanings than these words do to those whose nation – America – identifies them as children of an all loving Father God born with unalienable rights.

In Islam “Freedom” literally means “Freedom from manmade laws.”

Because “Allah’s divine law”/sharia comes directly from Islam’s “god” Allah and the “exalted standard of conduct” for all muslims to follow – Mohammad – it is considered the

perfect law for all mankind, which must be imposed on all people for the sake of Allah.

Therefore, the only possible meaning for “Justice” in Islam is the justice adjudicated via the sharia – the barbaric system which calls for war upon all non-muslims until the world is submitted to it (sharia), and the death for all who leave Islam.

This is “justice” in Islam, and it is “justice” only for sharia-adherent muslims living under sharia. Therefore, all people are not equal in the eyes of Islam/sharia. Sharia-adherent muslims stand above all others.

The Muslim Brotherhood’s FREEDOM & JUSTICE Party was intentionally named with the understanding those words mean what sharia has them mean.

It is easy to come to a conclusion that those who defend Islam as a “peaceful religion” are either grossly ignorant, mentally deranged, or knowingly evil.

When Islamic leaders simply say

they want “freedom and justice” in the world they are being sincere. However, Islam’s understanding and definitions of these words are radically different that the understanding of these words from an American perspective – practically and legally.

When listening to muslims discuss issues of “freedom” and “justice,” we must translate English to English using the filter of sharia. Otherwise, we might fall into the trap of believing there is common ground between Islam and the American Republic.

There is not.

Dueling Headlines Demonstrate Media Manipulation of News

ust for you dear reader, a clear example of how drastically different the same story can be colored by

media outlets with just a headline.

The liberal-leaning Texas Tribune ran this headline on 9 July: “Border apprehensions dropped in June, but federal officials say crisis continues.”

The summary subhead read: “While announcing the number of migrants apprehended along America’s southern border, the Trump administration also warned that the one-month change does not signal that the influx of people crossing is over.”

The conservative-leaning subscription site The Texan ran this headline about the same statistics released by the feds: “Border Apprehensions Remain Above 100,000 For Fourth Consecutive Month.” The summary subhead read: “As expected, overall border apprehensions dropped from their 13-year high in May as the summer heat takes effect, but totals still remain in six-figures.”

Same story, opposite meaning delivered to readers from the headlines and subheads.

The Tribune wants you to think that the border crisis has eased and only “officials say” the crisis continues which of course means they could be making it up. The Texan points out that even with the so-called “easing” we are catching over 100,000 illegal crossers, a whopping number if ever there was one. The Texan implies, rightly by the way, that the summer heat usually causes a drop in the numbers.

Most readers only scan headlines, subheads, and possibly the first paragraph. That’s one reason is it so easy to mislead or put a story in a particular light. Scanning through and picking out the actual facts, if you are lucky to even find such, in a story goes a long way toward avoiding being fooled.

rule over us? And that with absolute tyranny.

For our objective Founding Fathers, authority originates with God. Therefore, if authority is to be exercised justly, man’s laws must agree with and be exercised in accountability to the Laws of Nature and Natures God, the natural and moral law of God. And the Creator endowed rights of the people. For in exercising authority without accountability to the laws of nature and natures God and our Creator endowed rights, (not government endowed) there is no liberty. In 1776 it was King George and his parliament that were exercising their authority unjustly.

We see this first as written by our Founding Fathers, Patriarchs, in 1776 in The Declaration of Independence. And then after winning our Independence from Great Britain, in 1789 as written in our Constitution establishing our Constitutional Republic under the Rule of Law of our Constitution with its Bill of Rights. In their day Our Founding Fathers, Patriarchs were not deceived by the identity politics of the tyrannical monarchy of Great Britain, the lawlessness of King George and his Parliament.

Nor should we be deceived by the lawlessness of the identity politics, the tyrannical anarchy of socialism, the socialist progressive agenda of the Democrat party and the other tyrants of our day.

Today we see the sinister lawlessness

We see it in the majority rule mobocracy of “democracy” the Democratic Party, administrative agency, the anarchy of socialism, progressivism, no borders, free healthcare for all, free education, environmentalism - the unjust hoax of Climate Change. Along with the deceptive and seductive implementation of Agenda 21 and other such tyrannies which continue to extort We the People of our Creator endowed rights of life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness.

It is time to return alongside those unrelenting true patriots. Our Founding Fathers. Patriarchs. Following their example, as true patriots uniting our voice as one. Our message? The true patriotism of our Founding Fathers, our Patriarchs. They were not perfect.

Nor are we.

But with their many individual differences, our Founding Fathers, Patriarchs united in the spirit of liberty.

They took a stand against the cultural chaos, the lawlessness of their day. Our Founding Fathers, Patriarchs raised up the standard for the lawless ones to see and guide them in their return to the civility of the proven principles of true liberty, freedom, patriotism.

Like our Founding Fathers, Patriarchs, as true patriots we join with them in raising up this same standard of the proven principles of true liberty, freedom, patriotism. And our goal is the same. That the lawlessness, the

lawless ones causing the cultural chaos of our day will return to the civility of these proven principles of true liberty, freedom, patriotism. Where’s Patriotism?

NASA: Discovery of a Lifetime

I

t was a celebratory mood with the boys at NASA; they had just made the scientific achievement of a lifetime. As they were uncorking a bottle of champagne, Dr. Lowenstein, the head scientist at NASA, asked everyone to be quiet as he had received a congratulatory phone call from the President of the United States.

He picked up a special red phone and spoke into it. “Mr. President,” said Dr. Lowenstein, grinning broadly, “after twelve years of hard research and billions of dollars spent, we have finally found intelligent life on Mars.” He listened for a second, and his smile gradually disappeared, replaced by a frown. He said, “But that’s impossible... we could never do it. Yes Mr. President,” and hung up the phone.

He addressed the crowd of scientists staring at him curiously. “I have some bad news,” he said, “the President said that now that we’ve found intelligent life on Mars... he wants us to try to find it in Congress.”

Leana Wen, Healthcare, and God

T

he Twitter world is all abuzz with the news that Leana Wen is no longer president of Planned Parenthood. While this might be newsworthy, the evil at Planned Parenthood will continue.

Regarding her departure, Wen explained: “I came to Planned Parenthood to run a national health care organization and to advocate for the broad range of public health policies that affect our patients’ health....The new board leadership has determined that the priority of Planned Parenthood moving forward is to double down on abortion rights advocacy.”

But we find her statement suspect, since the vast majority of abortion

advocates work very hard to define the act of abortion as part of a total healthcare package for women. Wen has said so herself!

When all is said and done, the abortion cartel is committed to deceiving the public. Planned Parenthood repeatedly assures women that there is no good healthcare w ithout the availability of the means needed to kill their children.

We happen to think that the political power behind such thinking runs so deep that even the federal government is at times intimidated.

Now, let’s be clear. On the one hand we have President Trump who has put a huge dent in Planned Parenthood’s federal dollars, taking millions of our tax dollars from its coffers. This is good news, at least

until PP files lawsuits claiming discrimination or some other weak argument and gets its funding back.

But, on the other hand, we see that some government bureaucrats are intimidated by the very threat of lawsuits when it comes to questions such as conscience protections for those who do not want to kill babies by acts of abortion.

The new conscience protection rule was supposed to be promulgated by the Department of Health and Human Services at the first of last month. However, recently a decision was made to delay the new rule, and several lawsuits have been filed with the goal of stopping it. One coalition of Democrat-led states argues: The federal government is giving

health care providers free license to openly discriminate and refuse care to patients—a gross misinterpretation of religious freedom that will have devastating consequences on communities throughout the country. . . .

Another coalition, which includes Lambda Legal, Americans United for Separation of Church and State and the Center for Reproductive Rights, filed a suit with Santa Clara County, arguing that the rule will result in “mass confusion among health care providers and is completely infeasible to implement” and could lead to health care facilities scrapping their reproductive and LGBTQ services altogether.

So the new rule is in jeopardy unless the government stands strong in defense of those who choose not to violate their consciences by providing actions and prescriptions that are not about healthcare but instead are about treating sexual intercourse and pregnancy as though they are diseases.

Letâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s face it, these are not medical problems. Will the government have the courage to make this case?

Only time will tell. But one thing is clear. While Planned Parenthood presidents come and go, the vilification of the people of God persists unabated. This is, in no uncertain terms, a struggle between good and evil.

America is Not Lost If We Do Our Part

The Obama Curse e ca n not be si lent a nd afraid to take on the lies of the LGBTQ agenda. We are still living under Obama’s curse. It was Obama and his administration who exponentially thrust the LGBTQ agenda upon America when in 2009 U. S. Sect. of Education Arne Duncan brought in Kevin Jennings to be the Assistant Deputy Secretary in the Office of Safe Schools.

Kevin Jennings was the homosexual founder of GLSEN which promotes homosexual clubs in high schools, middle schools, and grade schools. He was the driving force behind establishing and promoting the “Day of Silence” which was used to pressure students into not only tolerating LGBTQ but into promoting and then advocating for it.

In 2010, Obama arbitrarily changed Title IX to include “gender identity”; and he placed every school in America – K – 16, public and private — under the threat of the Civil Rights Commission if his “Dear Colleague” letters were not followed. This forced the LGBTQ agenda into all schools in our nation (private and public) all the way from kindergarten through colleges/universities.

Because so many Americans were silent and did not want to get involved in the subject of LGBTQ and Obama’s social justice agenda, the entire set of lies came pouring into the minds and souls of our nation’s students.

Common Core’s Huge Success as an Indoctrination Tool Even though we now have solid evidence to prove that Common Core has lowered students’ academic achievement throughout our country, in the eyes of Obama and his administration, Common Core is a huge success. The LGBTQ movement is well on its way to take over our nation.

Gender identity and gender preference

are now common bywords. Little children are taking hormone blockers that will leave them incapable of ever having their own children. Body parts are being cut off as deceived young people are “transitioning” into a life of misery and chaos – never to be able to go back and become normal males nor females again.

Sexually transmitted diseases are running rampant among the LGBTQ community, and perverse sexual activities are leaving people without the ability to have normal bodily functions.

Medical doctors are finding objects buried in people’s body cavities (e.g., sex toys), and all sorts of abnormal conditions are being documented in people’s sexual organs; but, unfortunately, many in the medical community are afraid to speak out for fear of losing their medical practice by publicly being labeled “homophobic” by the LGBTQ community.

The True Purpose of Common Core Revealed The purpose of Common Core was never to raise students’ academic achievement; the purpose was to steal their minds and souls and to indoctrinate them into the social justice agenda.

Since almost the first day that Obama was on the job, he and his administration began the step-by-step, careful implementation of their Common Core plan and their community organizing

strategies based largely on Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals.

Instead of students having time to gain foundational knowledge and skills that have equipped previous generations of Americans to become the greatest entrepreneurs on earth, Common Core-educated students have spent their time developing their skills in learning how to ridicule authority figures, call out, plan Twitter storms, create mobs and protest rallies, elevate their voices to an emotion-filled pitch, record podcasts with every disgusting epithet and disrespectful verbiage they can use, and invade violently the privacy of conservative elected officials.

The LGBTQ message is infused right into the midst of victimization, racial inequality, sexual discrimination, #Me Too, #Black Lives Matter, open borders, Communism, socialism, reparations, distribution of wealth, climate change hysteria, hatred for straight White males, anti-Christian/ anti-Semitism, etc. – all one blended message.

Common Core Permeation Our nation has now spent nine years of being indoctrinated into the Common Core agenda 24/7, and its destructive philosophy has permeated almost every classroom in America – public, charter, and even private and home schools.

of the Common Core, became the CEO of The College Board that produces the Pre-SAT, SAT, and Advanced Placement, he almost immediately began to align all CB products with the Common Core. Because teachers are basically forced into teaching whatever is being tested, the Common Core and its “infected” products and tests have taken over our nation’s day-to-day classroom curriculum.

The students who were in elementary school in 2009 are now in high school; and their lack of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies knowledge and skills is pervasive. Students who were in junior high in 2009 are currently populating our colleges and universities; and tenured professors are amazed at their students’ lack of basic knowledge and their twisted reasoning skills. We who were educated through fact-based, traditional academics are astounded by young people such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who reveal their ignorance every single day; but they are the products of exactly what Obama and his ilk meant to produce.

The general public was fooled into thinking Common Core was about academics; it never was. The purpose of Common Core was to force teachers into teaching the social justice agenda and to destroy traditional thinking among this and succeeding generations of students.

Common Core’s purpose was to crush American exceptionalism; to promote victimization, White privilege, and Black bondage; to cast aspersions on great American heroes and heroines; to lead students to doubt the validity of the Founding Fathers, the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution; to become fixated on global warming/climate change and its fearbased, end-of-the-world scenario built upon unscientific lies; to cast aside the time-honored classics with their emphasis on good and evil/right and wrong; and to tear down students’ SEE AMERICA IS NOT LOST | PAGE 38

The Execution of the Disabled

he French government executed quadriplegic Vincent Lambert by dehydration 11 July 2019, in the same barbaric manner that Terri Schiavo was executed in 2005. Vincent Lambert had been hospitalized since 2008 when a vehicle accident left him paralyzed with severe brain damage.

Catholic Church leaders in France described Vincent Lambert as “disabled” but “not at the end of his life.”

Members of the clergy, Vincent’s parents, and two of his siblings tried to save his life, but the French courts were adamant about executing him since Vincent Lambert was disabled and served no useful purpose for the state – he did not pay taxes and he could not vote.

Pope Francis wrote, “Let us not build a civilization that discards persons whose lives we no longer consider to be worthy of living: every life is valuable, always.” The execution of Vincent reminds us of the elimination of the disabled by Hitler in Nazi Germany, with the disabled described as those whose “lives were not worthy of being lived” (“Lebens nicht Lebenswert”).

Cardinal Robert Sarah wrote of Vincent Lambert after his execution, “On this sad day, I pray for the eternal repose of the soul of Vincent Lambert, who died as a martyr, victim of the terrifying madness of the people of our time. I pray for his family and in particular for his parents so courageous, so dignified. Let us not be afraid.

God is awake and watching.”

Many on the Left have indeed become increasingly mad and deranged.

They are willing to kill anyone whose life is inconvenient, including the unborn, the recently born, the genetically defective, the disabled, and the elderly.

This Culture of Death is not going to go away. There are increasing

numbers of people on the Socialist Left who believe that the aged and disabled are inconvenient consumers and not contributors and have the obligation to get out of the way.

Our Judeo-Christian heritage is one of life and not of death. Life is proclaimed in the first five books of the Old Testament written after the Exodus from Egypt and ancient Egypt’s obsession with death. The current efforts of the Left are not only directed against life and fundamental Judeo-Christian values but are also an attempt to marginalize and destroy the basic values of Western Civilization.

The Terri Schiavo execution in March 2005 was the public test case for the Democrats in the United States.

Democrats wanted to see if they could execute disabled people who were not dying.

The Democrats succeeded in executing Terri, while President George W. Bush, Congress, and the Supreme Court went though unsuccessful motions. There was no intervention from President or Governor to save Terri Schiavo or to otherwise take Executive action to halt Terri’s execution. No one had the courage to save Terri Schiavo.

The rapid decline of our societal values is dismaying. However, contrary

to what is presented to us by most of the news media, most Americans retain their traditional values. According to a Zogby Poll taken shortly after the death of Terri Schiavo, 80.3% of those questioned would have opposed taking food and water away from Terri Schiavo had they known the facts in her case. The news media did not tell the whole story and neither did the politicians.

The Left has claimed to champion the rights of the disabled and opposes capital punishment for criminals.

However, these same Leftists pushed for the termination of Terri Schiavo.

Only a few on the Left rose up to oppose her execution. Some Democrats even cheered the execution of Terri Schiavo. This has a very chilling effect on the disabled and on all of us.

All socialized medical programs eventually move to concepts that eliminate the elderly and other nonproductive recipients. We saw this with the British heath care program about 1953 and with the Canadian health care program at its inception, e.g., the elderly do not receive the same level of care. One of the more significant examples in both the British and Canadian system is that for the elderly there is apparently no access

to intensive care units.

We see the concept evolve in our Medicare and Medicaid system with limits imposed on which medications are on formularies. Euthanasia is championed by increasing numbers of Democrats.

It is common to hear that patients consume most of their health care dollars in the last 6 months or 1 year of their lives. The implication is that society should do something about this cost. It is a slippery slope, because medical science cannot accurately determine when someone will die. The Bible tells us the time of our death is known only to God. Decreasing the size and reach of government and moving Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid to the control of the individual recipients will be a good starting point. Getting federal bureaucrats and politicians out of our health care must be the ultimate goal.

The glue of families, nations, and civilizations is the understanding that the members will care for and protect those who cannot help themselves, including children, the elderly, and the disabled. Family stability cannot survive when a husband can kill his wife with court sanction even when she is not terminally ill, governments can order the execution of disabled persons who have committed no crime, death can be hastened by withdrawing water and food, and the unborn survive at the convenience of their mother. If the family fails, so will our nation and Western Civilization.

By killing the unproductive, money is saved by governments, insurance companies, and heirs. Is the execution of the undesirable, the unproductive, and the defenseless to be society’s final solution for the solvency of the welfare state? Do Socialists oppose making Social Security financially viable because they plan to eliminate the undesirable elderly?

Why the Poor Should Fear Socialism HAROLD PEASE, PH. D.

A

s the government controls more portions of the economy, democracy transcends to socialism. Sometime in this transition democracy ceases to be democracy although the term continues to be used, and no-one can identify that moment when it is too late to pull free.

So why should the dependent class, defined as the approximately 47% who pay no federal income tax and are largely those who benefit from food stamps, subsidized housing, healthcare and other assistance programs, fear socialism? Because socialism has a history of ending assistance programs. Democracy enables a marriage between the assisted class with their vote power and politicians wishing to empower themselves by, in effect, transferring wealth from those who have to the poor. Once established this marriage self-perpetuates and amplifies. Try seeking office today on a platform that ends all government assistance programs—or, even just one, food stamps.

The brakes (limits) of the Constitution are powerful when observed but they cannot perform well once gifting (bribing the dependent class for their vote) has been introduced into the body politic. Once ingrained it cannot prevent itself from offering larger and more gifts until elections are bidding wars without constitutional restraints. This feeds an enlarging national debt that can never be paid.

We see this today in the Democratic Party presidential debates: free college, reparations for the descendants of ex-slaves, a guaranteed income, and free healthcare for everyone in the world willing to cross our borders illegally. In exchange for your vote,

the socialist politician advocates that everything be free. This is his most powerful lure and works well on idealistic youth and the already dependent, but it risks collapsing the economy, democracy, the Constitution and liberty.

Aristotle recognized this when he wrote, “Republics decline into democracies and democracies degenerate into despotism.” The deadly virus of democracy is voter gifting by politicians willing to sell their souls for elected office.

King Solon of Athens created the governmental form a republic because the philosopher-king believed that man should govern himself and, once he had the republic in place, left Athens to attend the University of Alexandria in Egypt never to return.

The new idea, personal freedom, resulted in five major unintended consequences: a booming economy, a creative and intellectual surge, an ever-enlarging voter base, an unequal distribution of wealth because not all were equally gifted or industrious and, finally, class envy because,

although all who worked were comparatively better off from pre-republic standards, some still had more.

The ever-enlarging voter base deteriorated into a democracy which had no brakes, no resistance to class envy and the marriage between the expanding poor who could link their vote with unprincipled politicians willing to transfer the fruits of labor from those who produce to those who do not in exchange for their gaining power. Democracy degenerates into gifting but soon enough there does not exist enough money to sustain the gifting and it ends with an economic crash. Once despotism replaces democracy there are no constitutional checks.

Rome repeated the same experiment with a similar result about a century later. Bread and circuses (free food and entertainment) destroyed the noble idea.

The previous failures were known to the well-read Founding Fathers who wanted the burst in creativity and general prosperity for all as delivered in a republic without the class envy and voter gifting. What if the powers of government were divided and separated into three branches with each a check on the other two and each given a list of the things they could do with gifting excluded? What if all powers not specifically mentioned in Article I, Section 8, remained with the states and the people as stipulated? What if all taxes must be spent only on the items on the list? What if the federal government could not assume additional power without the consent of 3/4th of the states? The government could not take over the economy by confiscation or regulation and the poor could never destroy the rich or devour the middle class. We could never degenerate into democracy then to the most common form of

despotism today, socialism—fathered

by Karl Marx.

Not a single sentence in the Constitution gives a benefit to anyone, only an environment of equality where one can maximize his talents.

In our republic, all votes are not equal. Under the Constitution as designed only the House of Representatives was democratically elected by the people. State legislators voted for U.S. Senators, an Electoral College selected the President, and he appointed supreme court justices for life confirmed only by the Senate.

We must apply the brakes of the Constitution to retain our republic.

Otherwise in time the productive classes cannot provide the money that is demanded of them to feed and otherwise subsidize the less productive class. It already can’t. We exceed 22 trillion dollars in debt. Each taxpayer owes the federal government $182,881, payable today (See USDebtClock.org). Despite unrealistic promises, socialism gives only slavery and shared poverty.

Gifting must end. When the banks crash, a new government will form and it will not honor the debt that destroyed its predecessor government, nor is it likely to fund social security, medicare, unlimited war, income security, federal pensions or any other program that contributed to it.

Under socialism, freedom does not survive.

Congress & the Courts

H

as our congress become so inept or fearful of being voted out of office, they have abandoned their job as described in the Constitution? Article III, section 2 gives them the power to limit the courts but they refuse to do so. A good example is Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), where about 70% of We the People voted to make marriage between one man and one woman and that was signed into law. When the LGBT-Gay community attacked DOMA with the court, congress ignored the voters and refused to tell the court they had no jurisdiction in this matter. The Constitution gives them that power and if our founders gave that power to congress, it was for good reason…to keep the people ABOVE any president, elected body or oligarchy of black-robed lawyers. Many court rulings in the past 30 years, go against what citizens want from their government and have been anti-Christian, anti-conservative, and against equality for all. Think about equality where all people are judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. Those are Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. words the court cleverly danced around playing on sympathy rather than facts. Equal is defined as, “of the same measure, quantity, value, quality, number, or degree as another.” Using Webster’s definition, Affirmative-Action gives minority groups and women an unfair advantage over white men. Rather than eliminating discrimination, the court simply changed the injured party from minorities to white men, solving nothing. Remember, those judges are the legal minds who think We the People are not able to rule ourselves, legally.

Looking at our Constitution as a citizen and not a lawyer, it appears obvious to me, the court has stolen

power because congress refuses to limit it. Article III, section 2, says, “…with such Exceptions and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make.” That is the part of the Constitution Congress has ignored, and it guarantees We the People are sovereign (as if King) and have the final say in law…not the court. The court seems to think citizens can’t rule themselves, which is the basic foundation of our nation, and because they are lawyers and understand legal matters better than simple folks, they must have the final say. We citizens are supposed to be where all power is vested. The word “vested” is defined as, “fully and unconditionally guaranteed as a legal right, benefit, or privilege.” The courts use their legal knowledge as the reason they must have the final say, not citizens. They rule in much the same way kings ruled in the old European nations, saying God gave them the ultimate power.

We the People gave power to Congress and our president, and God gave citizens certain unalienable (cannot be removed) rights. In our system, We the People are the only sovereign, not the court or anyone else.

Imagine a country where the legal system has the final say in legal matters. The wolf guarding the henhouse comes to mind. We see it today in the 5 to 9 rulings like DOMA. Now homosexuals and lesbians can marry, though 70% of citizens said NO. What happens if we have pedophiles on a court? Will sex with children become legal? Will we abandon our Judeo-Christian founding? We are NOT a Christian nation, but our legal system was founded on Judeo-Christian values. Imagine a nation where only lawyers and judges understand the meaning of laws. We the People can be thrown into prison because we did not understand a law…not because we are criminals. That is what happens in communist dictatorships.

Our courts have made so many rulings contradicting each other, even they have trouble making sense of them. Ruth Bader Ginsberg needs to be removed now. She and a couple of other liberals think they have the right to “update” our Constitution with rulings, but our Constitution demands the Amendment process. The court prefers their THEFT of POWER allowed by congress, and it appears they hate the Constitution, because…

I

was reminded last month that the Fourth of July is my favorite day of the year. I have always been a history buff and the founding of what I believe to be the greatest nation in the history of the planet is something we must always celebrate.

With another Fourth of July having just passed, I do worry that the importance of this day is getting entangled in a political agenda that shakes the core of all we believe about our great nation. Our Founding Fathers were far from perfect. I understand that the stain of slavery can never be removed from the fabric of our nation, but the founders of the United States of America had an idea and a vision that has profoundly and positively changed the world.

The Declaration of Independence has become American Scripture.

It set out a reason to separate from Great Britain and the framework of a plan to be different ... better. I have travelled the world in my career and regardless of what some of the pundits will tell you, we are the most admired and respected nation on the globe. Like our Founding Fathers, we are not perfect, but the USA is an admired and respected world leader.

I recently had the privilege of speaking at the World War Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana, to a group of veterans and later as part of a panel on the captured German Submarine, the U-505. I was asked to be part of this panel because my father, through a weird brush with fate, guarded the captured prisoners from the U-505 at Camp Ruston in Louisiana and taught

the Germans to play baseball. I share this story in my book, â&#x20AC;&#x153;Playing with the Enemy.â&#x20AC;?

As I met these few remaining veterans and toured the museum that stands today as a testimony to their bravery and the resolve of our nation, I was overwhelmed with the thought of how our country and world has changed since the end of the war in 1945. It has only been a short seventyfour years, but the change has been profound. Faced with the same circumstances today, as we were on December 7, 1941, I am not sure how weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;d respond and the level of our national resolve to bind together and defeat our foe may have changed.

I asked one of the veterans I met how he felt weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;d respond as a nation today and he said, â&#x20AC;&#x153;We are too politically correct to fight this kind of war today.â&#x20AC;?

I didnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t respond but continued to look at him, so he continued, â&#x20AC;&#x153;The fire-bombing of Dresden helped break the back of the Nazi war machine and the resolve of the German people, but today it is viewed as barbaric â&#x20AC;Ś and it was, but that is the nature of war. If you are going to fight, you have to be prepared to do what is necessary to get the job done.â&#x20AC;?

I shook his hand and thanked him for his service. He smiled and said, â&#x20AC;&#x153;Donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t ever let what we did be forgotten.â&#x20AC;?

I grew up among heroes â&#x20AC;Ś My dad bought a home in a VA neighborhood in 1956. Home ownership for our family was only possible through the â&#x20AC;&#x153;Servicemenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Readjustment Act of 1944â&#x20AC;? now known as the GI Bill. He paid $11,500 for a three-bedroom, prefab home with a spacious 790 square feet and a carport. The neighborhood was in some way associated with the GI Bill, as you had to be a veteran to purchase there. I didnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t realize it then,

but it was a neighborhood of heroes.

My dad never spoke of the war. I never heard any of the neighbors talk about their experiences, but on the frequent neighborhood summer barbeques, the men would gather around the grill, beer in hand, and ask the most commonly asked question, â&#x20AC;&#x153;Where did you serve?â&#x20AC;? Theyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;d openly talk about their experiences while huddled together but rarely if ever shared with their families what they did and endured.

I look back and wonder about a few of them and the traits they exhibited that we now know as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;d love to go back to those days and ask the questions I now carry in my heart for them, but I realize, theyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;d never answer. If I could not answer the question, â&#x20AC;&#x153;Whereâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;d you serve?â&#x20AC;? with the details of authentication required to prove I was one of them, my questions about their participation in the war would be met with a shrug, followed by silence.

Someday soon â&#x20AC;Ś In 1826, newspapers carried the head line that Joh n Ada ms a nd Thomas Jefferson both died on the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, signifying the end of an era. The last of our Founding Fathers had passed into the ages. Very soon, newspapers will print the headline, â&#x20AC;&#x153;Last Remaining WWII Vet Has Passed.â&#x20AC;? With their passing, the secrets they carried that were too precious and painful to share with their families will pass with them.

Former President Eisenhower visited my hometown September 14, 1962 and there was a parade in his honor, that began downtown and ended at the newly constructed shopping center. The Deadliest Illness in Human History

O

ur country is facing the deadliest and most dangerous disease of its entire history. This challenge does not involve a virus or bacteria, but so far has proven to be far more deadly than anything we have seen before. It is the mental illness characterized as Liberalism! In a sort of societal-reality-TV-type version of the “Invasion of The Body Snatchers” science fiction movie. Perfectly normal-appearing people suffer the horrible disorder of detached brain syndrome, where the individual’s mind ceases to function with any meaningful logic regarding self-preservation for the affected person or, for that matter, the entire species!

This mental wasting disability has promoted and helped bring about the widespread practice of abortion, which by itself, and according to prominently published conservative estimates, has extinguished the lives of over 1.5 BILLION human beings worldwide, with over 60 MILLION people killed in the US alone, since 1973. The Black Death (Bubonic Plague) is credited with eliminating around 25 Million individuals; the Spanish Flu of the second decade of the 20th Century killed near 50 Million people worldwide, and; AIDS has accounted for approximately 35 Million premature dead. These shocking numbers, even when added to the numbers of people losing their lives due to the World Wars of the last hundred years or so, still pale in comparison to the staggering totals of innocent children whose little bodies as well as their future careers and potential families were destroyed on the altar of profit, inconvenience, and greed. In fact, in some of the more seriously mentally challenged areas, such as New York, medical personnel as well as couldhave-been mothers are actually praised for allowing newborn babies to helplessly die. Again, the only explanation

is mental illness of the worst degree.

The most effective treatment against the ravages of this Liberal disorder is to thoroughly instruct susceptible and potential victims about the truth of history and how to utilize critical thinking techniques. If people are taught how to reason and examine facts in comparison to the poisonous Liberal fairy tales, they have a much better chance to avoid the terrible Liberal sickness. Of course, those of us as rescuers, have to be well aware that some of the victims who have blindly swallowed the tainted Liberal mantras may turn on the very emergency responders trying to save them. Sort of like “battered wife syndrome,” where the abused and injured wife sometimes comes to the defense of the very person who abused and injured her. These sick-minded and ill-informed Liberal believers may ignorantly vote against and oppose leaders who are attempting to save them from the Liberal abyss.

An especially egregious example of Liberal insanity is self-described Liberal women vehemently promoting Islam and Sharia law which requires them to willingly submit to slavery and subhuman status. Do they really want to change their fashion wardrobe for the infamous Burqa? And I suppose the hair salons could become Hijab shops! After such a long and difficult struggle for women’s rights, these Liberals seem so happy to just throw those rights away!

The “Religion of Peace” creates tranquility by annihilating its opposition; most cemeteries do tend to be rather “peaceful!”

Another example is completely ignoring what is happening around oneself.

The most prominent causes of death in the US, besides abortion, are cancer (number 3), heart disease (number 2), with the number 1 cause of death due to medical treatment and procedures (according to Dr. Bruce Lipton, wellknown author and former Med School professor)! Over 750,000 US deaths annually with over 300,000 of these from prescribed pharmaceuticals! Yet the convoluted Liberal mindset is to force MORE vaccinations on babies whose immune systems have not yet matured, to put MORE poisonous fluoride in our water, and to take MORE drugs to offset symptoms from every real and imagined condition. Of course, let’s don’t address the CAUSE, but treat the SYMPTOM! I am certainly not against doctors and medical professionals, but they are NOT gods, and can’t we use a little of what-should-be common sense here?

The unfortunate Liberal approach to so many problems is that if something is obviously not working, then do more of it! If one group is not achieving a particular level of success, then punish those who are successful to make the underachievers feel better. If government schools are not succeeding in educating children, then destroy private and homeschool systems to remove the contrast in educational results. If an area is prone to more crime, then work

harder to disarm the law-abiding citizens who live there. If one does not like the message, then by all means just kill the messenger! Oh, and we can’t leave out one of the worst Liberal travesties of all. If we cannot afford something, then just PRINT more money to pay for it! This last will ultimately prove to be the undoing of our country if we don’t get a handle on it.

The list of Liberal nonsense goes on and on, but I don’t have space to write a book here. Our best weapon against this modern plague is the truth and applied logic. The TRUTH is not our enemy, it is indeed our best friend, and is the only real antidote to the confusion of Liberalism!

Points to ponder: True individual freedom ALLOWS people to discriminate about where they want to live, who they want to associate with, and what they want to achieve in their lives. The motive of the original civil rights movement was to ensure equal OPPORTUNITIES were available to all racial groups, and not to result in forced and so-called equal outcomes.

Government is not capable of providing solutions to problems, it can only promote or inhibit them.

Doctors Need to Examine Their Motives on Trans Teens

“I

t was easier than signing a cell phone contract.” That’s how Helena, who identified as transgender at age 15, described getting her first hormone prescription.

She didn’t need a therapist’s approval or any kind of assessment when she walked in the clinic. “You just need to go sign the paper, and they’ll give you the [drugs].” Seventeen months of testosterone later, she wished she’d never taken it.

Helena is just one of the voices warning parents and teenagers to stop listening to the culture when it comes to gender confusion. “It’s a social contagion,” she insists. For kids who have trouble fitting in, like she did, transitioning is one way

that social media tells them they’ll be popular. “It was very much the ‘in’ thing to do,” she told Madeleine Kearns. But, like a lot of young people who’ve walked away from that lifestyle, Helena looks back and shudders. “I don’t think I had a very good understanding ... that the things I [was doing were] going to affect me in 20 years. Which is why I think it’s so messed up that it’s so easy for a person like me to get hormones.”

Dr. Michelle Cretella, head of the American College of Pediatricians, agrees – and blames the medical community for being complicit in this dangerous agenda. In a letter to U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams, ACP is sounding the alarm over what they call a “grave public health concern impacting children and adolescents diagnosed with gender dysphoria

(GD).” It is, they point out, “an issue so dire that the Royal College of General Practitioners in the United Kingdom issued an unprecedented warning to the public earlier this month.”

Without any sort of long-term testing, drugs and life-altering surgeries are being suggested to minors as the new “standard of care.” That’s wrong, she insists, especially since 61-98 percent of affected children “will outgrow their GD if allowed to progress through natural puberty.” These are toxic hormones, Dr. Cretella explained on Tuesday’s “Washington Watch,” being given to children as young as eight – and, in some cases, without their parents’ permission.

“This is pure insanity,” she told listeners. “This is not medicine... We’re talking about [kids] between ages eight and 12 being pumped full of synthetic hormones that have serious side effects – in combination with puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones...

[We’re sentencing kids] to a lifetime of dependence on these drugs, which put them at risk for heart attack, strokes, diabetes, cancers and continued suicidal ideation or thoughts... It’s institutionalized child abuse.”

What’s worse, Dr. Cretella points out, very few people in the medical community are willing to speak out.

“We have physicians and drug companies profiting off of the suffering of children... [when what they really need is] therapy and sound counseling to get at any sort of underlying issue.” Before

this “wholesale promotion of transgenderism,” she points out, doctors were cautious. They knew that “the vast majority of children who were confused about their sex, if they were supported through natural puberty, they outgrew the confusion.” That’s been documented, she explains in 11 studies. “But again, that was before all the transgender propaganda.”

Now, there are actually whistleblowers in clinics as far away as the U.K. “who are aghast at what’s being done to these children. They’ve come out and said, ‘Look, we have evidence that these children are suffering harm,’ but that evidence is being suppressed.”

That’s why, Dr. Cretella says, her organization decided to send the letter now – before the situation gets worse.

The doctors who are asking questions are being reprimanded, she warned – “or they’re basically sent for reeducation.” “It’s politicized medicine,” she says sadly. And there are physicians in areas of authority who are willingly embracing “ideology over science.”

Maybe with good intentions, she admits, but “there’s no science to back it up.” And science – along with courage – is the only hope for young people like Helena. Let’s hope Surgeon General Adams agrees.

Before Armageddon

merica has been a great hum a n ex p er i ment to test whether a nation founded on Godly principles could long endure.

There may be too great a divide between opposing economic philosophies in the country.

Ladies and gentlemen the battle was destined to be foisted upon us eventually because it is human nature to never be satisfied even if they are living in a perfect world. We all have free will even if we arenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t living in a free country. Today in America our citizens must choose to either live free as we have for nearly 250 years or be hell-bent on changing the longest lasting Constitution written in all recorded history. The average life of all constitutions in world history is only 17 years so we are way overdue to have a great earthquake of change on how we are governed. I wonder if we will choose wisely and walk freely into the final battle of Armageddon or be destroyed from within. We can easily see there are those who seek power to impose their will and return to historically failed economic systems of every third world country, living or dead.

If we are to play a role in the last days America will have to prevail in defense of Good over Evil. We will need to survive the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune whether in the backwoods of Tennessee or on Wall Street. Battles of the past were struggles between Pioneers and Native Indianâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s, the Hatfieldâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s and the McCoyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s, and of course two world wars in the past 100 years.

Or perhaps battles may even be those in the past when we were in search of solutions to jump from back-breaking work in the fields to the industrial revolution. Now we may bond together to reach out into

the Universe in search of God, only to realize when we get there that He resides within us.

Americanâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s have tested the waters of time and found solutions to the problems as they happened. They had to overcome challenges by trial and error or perish. But these were tough European transplants that were inventive and adapted to a turbulent 20th Century. They needed to innovate to overcome problems previously unknown to them. They were up to the challenges because they were iron men who came to North America in wooden ships. They were up and doing, tirelessly pursuing, and then achieving because they had no options. It was do or die. These were the days of going forward in baby steps and that is what allowed future generations to take giant steps even to the moon. Make no mistake, our achievements were made possible only because of the struggles of our predecessors.

Unfortunately, today we have iron ships and wooden men, weakened by lives made easy because of those brave hard-working men and women of prior generations. They knew the road would be rough but did it anyway. They had learned how to survive but no matter how well they paved the road for us today wooden men and women travel it only with good intentions but without the courage to overcome the perils ahead.

Looking back, you can see how the thirteen original Colonies had engulfed the entire continent with half a century of states that were independent but united in a special bond. The people then were laced together by Gods Golden Thread â&#x20AC;&#x201C; Faith in the great artificer. I fear for our future since no longer does the word of God guide our leaders. They no longer believe in their Creator and seem to have abandoned the very reason for

the prosperity handed them. Godâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s blessings to a deserving hard-working people began to disappear in the 1960s. America began to deny God then and thus are losing His blessings.

They have failed to keep fast to the moral compass handed them and thus have now lost their way.

Is 36% dependence on foreign oil imports good or bad? Compare it with the September 1973 Arab Oil Embargo which brought transportation to a standstill. Foreign oil imports were 104,117 thousand barrels in September 1973. U.S. oil production in September 1973 was 271,959 thousand barrels.

Total oil demand in September 1973 was 376,076 thousand barrels. During the Arab Oil Embargo, the U.S. was dependent upon foreign oil imports for 26% of its oil.

Current dependence on foreign oil imports is greater than during the Arab Oil Embargo which brought transportation to a standstill. Currently, foreign oil imports endanger our National Security and give aid and comfort to our enemies.

Carbon dioxide, a beneficial gas necessary for life to exist on earth, is only a tiny 0.004% of the atmosphere. This extremely small amount of carbon dioxide in the air cannot have complete control over climate change.

Democrats have an impossible platform since there are no clean fuels.

Gasoline emits less carbon dioxide than ethanol. A 1965 Department of Energy study determined that gasoline emits 272.4 grams of carbon dioxide per vehicle mile traveled, and ethanol emits 301.1 grams of carbon dioxide per vehicle mile traveled.

Democrats do, in fact, reduce oil production. This causes an increase in foreign oil imports to meet oil demand, thereby endangering National

Security and giving aid and comfort to our enemies.

The Democrat platform has other problems. Mobility of U.S. Armed Forces depends exclusively on oil.

Democrats are against oil and against the mobility of U.S. Armed Forces.

Democrats running for 2020 elections are faced with the fact that Democrats endanger National Security and are against the mobility of U.S. Armed Forces, giving aid and comfort to our enemies. If Democrat politicians do not demand that their political platform be changed to “Increasing Oil,” they should rightfully lose the election.

This should be a great incentive for bipartisanship. Democrats should change their political platform to “Increasing Oil” which would give American workers the vast fortune which is now being sent to foreigners for foreign oil imports. Changing the Democratic platform to “Increasing Oil” would stop the endangerment of National Security and stop the aid and comfort to our enemies. Democrats need to reach across the aisle and do this.

The inevitable is about to happen in paradise found. Those chosen people evolved into the 20 th Century AD with a weakened resolve. Rather than staying the course they began to digress and flirt with the fire that would burn them. It was intoxicating, and they were bored. Life had become too easy, too predictable.

Beginning in the 1960s, the people wandered off the straight and narrow path to experiment with drugs and free sex and rebelling against authority. They had not drifted far enough to get lost but by the beginning of the 21st Century, things had gotten even worse. The way was now foggy and the future far more uncertain to those who grew up in the 20th Century. We had become complacent and the enemy was our own inability to stay true to the principles that kept us from losing our way.

It was the temptress and purity of purpose was a distant memory. The whores seemed to be winning. We simply could not stand prosperity. Now we were indeed lost, but we mistook it for progress, and we began betting our collective assets on a losing donkey. Our society had capitulated to the lies of the leaders – the lies that God hates. But they don’t know because they don’t believe in God. And they surely don’t believe in the Devil they have been flirting with. Moral compass abandoned the early years of the new millennium became unbelievable how right became wrong and wrong became right. Our world had been turned upside down.

Our pacificism and adopted appeasement began leading America to take the wrong path at the inevitable fork in the road. We have

choices and collective group think has caused us to be lured and led to the wide road which leads to destruction. The narrow way is the difficult path, but one that leads to victory. We have made bad choices and have become soft and the Beast is eyeing the vulnerable underbelly of a fallen giant.

Can America get up? Does it have any fight left in it or the will to win the war being waged against it?

We are at a crucial time and on the precipice of victory or defeat. The question yet to be answered is do we have the will to win? Are its people so diverse and have we appeased the enemy while abdicating the throne, in principle? Have we emboldened the enemy so that now it has gained the advantage? If so, the tide and momentum have shifted to the Left.

Is conservatism and thus America doomed?

My purpose is to send up a final

flare from our life raft in a sea of seeming hopelessness.

Meanwhile, the sharks are circling the raft and seek to devour us. They are perilously close to capsizing our way of life in America and it may be God is asking for a revival – a great revival to redemption. The good people of America must now rise and take a stand against the siege by an enemy who would destroy us.

ignificant, Inexpensive Ways to Lend a Hand to Service Members, Veterans, and Their Loved Ones When it comes to active service members, veterans, and their families, itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s an honor to give back in a way that shows appreciation and gratitude for the sacrifices they make and have made. While it may seem difficult to know how to help them, the most important thing to understand is that a small gesture of kindness can make a big difference in the lives of these heroes. If you need ideas for lending a hand to current and former service members (and their loved ones), look no further. Here are a few practical, budget-friendly measures you can take today.

One way to show thanks to a service member or veteran is to put together a care package with items you think they may need or enjoy. Also, you could provide necessities like soap, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, foot powder, and clothing.

You could even put entertainment items in the package, such as a new set of earbuds, books, notepads, pens, and a gift card to iTunes or Amazon. If you shop at major retailers like Kohls, you

They Still Remember – So Should We

here was a time I thought that when soldiers returned home from war, they simply went back to their home towns and just picked up where they left off. It was common for a soldier to go to work his dad, marry his high school sweetheart, build their little home with a white picket fence and start their families as if nothing ever happened. However, after talking with thousands of veterans I’ve heard over and over again the horrors of war that will remain fresh in their memories for the rest of their lives.

On several occasions, I have sung for the Golden Corral restaurants on their “Monday After Veterans Day” suppers where they serve free meals to our veterans and their families.

I really do more encouraging than actual singing and that’s when I ask each veteran when and where they served. After listening to their stories, I pray with each family.

Last year, at the Golden Corral in Farmington, NM, my heart was deeply moved by the stories of three veterans. One man, Robert Jones, was in the Navy and served in the Pacific in WWII. He was a small man with thinning white hair and deep lines on his face. I wondered if the wrinkles were just a reflection of his age or possibly due to the strain of keeping some memories locked away in his heart. After a few minutes, he became silent and with his head tilted slightly upwards said, “I loved serving my country but what still haunts me to this day is that I made it home, but my best friend was killed. You’d think I would have gotten over this by now.” His wife reached for his hand as he used a napkin to dry his eyes. I had the feeling this scene had been repeated

many times in their marriage. When we prayed, I prayed that the Lord would comfort his hurting heart.

Another old soldier, John Peterson, was one of the 1st men to set foot on Normandy Beach on June 6th, 1944. I’ve read numerous books and watched programs on D-Day and couldn’t imagine what it must have been like to see the waters turn red with the blood of young men. To hear the deafening explosions and bullets sounding like angry bees whizzing by had to be absolutely terrifying.

When I asked him how he thought he was able to survive he slowly smiled and answered, “The only reason I walked off of that beach was because of the grace of God.” When we prayed, I thanked God for this man’s courage and for bringing him home to his family.

The story that broke my heart the most was told by a man in a wheelchair. His name was Jimmy Mahan.

He was a Vietnam vet and like so many he had been treated horribly when he returned home. His face burned with anger and I could hear the pain in his voice as he recalled how he had been attacked; not by

the enemy but by those he had been fighting for. I knelt down beside him

and put my hand on his shoulder and said, “Mr. Mahan, I don’t blame you at all for being angry. I’m sure I would be too. But I am going to ask God to help you forgive and to give you His peace.” Mr. Mahan cried while I prayed. I was mistaken to ever think that soldiers easily put their experiences in war behind them.

They still remember...so should we.

From Barracks to Bedside: One Man’s Journey of Service

“I

hope that I empty myself every day,” said Oscar Chavez when asked if serving as a chaplain for Area Community Hospice takes anything out of him. “As a team member, I want to be a source of spiritual provision to empower those dealing with a terminal diagnosis, along with those families and caregivers that are caring for them daily. Our goal is to meet their holistic needs, physical, emotional, and spiritual so they may be empowered to overcome the challenges set before them.”

Oscar’s career of service began in the Army when he was 18 years old. “Serving my community was implanted into me while I was in the military,” he said.

And that seed grew. “It helped me become more civic-minded and service-oriented because it breaks down your individuality and makes you think like a team player.”

After the Army, he spent many years in the computer field as a Computer Operator and Data Communications Technician. He also owned a ChemDry carpet cleaning business, was a Real Estate agent, a Corrections Officer, a supervisor for UPS, and was in church administration as a staff member for several years. “The experience I obtained from visiting and interacting with the public through the years has been invaluable and has served me well in the hospice field,” he said.

As fate (and faith) would have it, he was led to Area Community Hospice as a favor to his brother, Wally. Oscar quickly fell in love with it. “Like everything else in my life, hospice service just evolved naturally and has become a ministry that is as rewarding and fulfilling, like nothing I have ever experienced.

Along with the growth that comes through experience, Oscar believes that education plays a crucial role in

staying abreast of all the changes that accompany the challenges faced by the hospice team daily. “Our owner and administrator, Nancy Kernell, emphasizes proficiency in every discipline.

Training and education, critical are through the Texas/New Mexico Hospice Organization, where Nancy served as president for a two-years,” he added.

“We tend to fear what we don’t understand, so we educate those we serve, and their families, about the end of life processes. We encourage them to embrace their faith beliefs to bring them peace.” This mindset of continuing education allows Area Community Hospice to share the following precepts: Research early so you can be proactive rather than reactive.

Begin a dialog with your family, so the end of life decisions will happen around the dinner table, rather than a clinical environment.

Educate yourself about the choices you have before making any decisions.

Focus on a holistic approach – body, mind, and spirit.

Area Community Hospice is committed to providing comfort, dignity, and hope through professional teams who are sensitive, understanding, and compassionate. “We encourage family members to be present. When we face difficulties in communicating with our

loved ones, the best antidote is compassion,” Oscar said. “Love, faith, and patience serve crucial roles in hospice care, but when in short supply due to situations that end of life situations present, we can always rely on compassion. Compassion is of the Lord and His supply is never-ending.”

“It is very humbling to come into the lives of those we serve. We share moments of intimacy when words cannot begin to express the sentiments at play,” Oscar says, sincerely. “To help them find peace in their circumstance, we incorporate their spiritual beliefs with their loved one’s condition and terminal prognosis.”

Oscar also serves as the Bereavement Coordinator. He and the rest of the Area Community Hospice team put their hearts and souls into loving and supporting the families after a loved one has passed away.

This Bereavement Care Plan follows-up with family members to ensure they are coping healthily. For 13 months after the death of a loved one, we equip them with resources to help in this endeavor.

A popular event founded in the Bereavement Care Plan is an annual memorial service, known as the “Butterfly Release.” “Hundreds of butterflies are released to honor those who have left us. It also encourages those left behind

to “finish the journey.” The butterfly is a symbol that ACH incorporates into its identity of “Sharing the Journey.”

Another powerful expression of support comes through Area Community Hospice’s Foundation, a not-for-profit public 501 (c) (3) charity. Their mission is to provide resources to advance the quality of care for terminally ill patients and their loved ones.

The Foundation’s mission includes: Special care needs for support of hospice patients and their families Scholarships for individuals who desire growth in the field of hospice and palliative medicine Community outreach, and hospice and palliative medicine research Further, the Foundation provides a meaningful way for patient’s families, friends, and other supporters of the hospice philosophy to honor their loved ones by contributing to the advancement of quality end-of-life care.

Area Community Hospice was founded in Plainview, Texas where it is locally owned and operated by Nancy Kernell. They have recently expanded into Lubbock where they can extend their personalized care service mission.

True Stories of a Vietnam Long Range Recon Patrol

A multipart series sharing the very personal and boots on the ground account of one Green Beret’s time in Vietnam.

Day One: My first day of my first long range recon mission miles west of Vietnam in a classified area. I was 21 years old.

I was the “damn new guy”; I won’t use the actual term for the new guy here, but as you can imagine it wasn’t ‘damn’.

My older, Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) and Team Lead (my ‘’One-Zero”) did everything I was taught NOT to do. He Smoked and stumbled along following a trail after a quiet insertion by chopper into the landing zone (LZ).

At noon of the first day, about 2 hours after jumping out of the chopper to the ground, I observed that my Second in Command Team Leader (my “One-Two”) even had a bottle of booze he drank a swig of from time to time.

The team heard nothing. Saw nothing. Sensed nothing that first day. We had a quiet night. As I lay there on the ground that was crawling with leeches and insects tormenting my bare face and hands, I thought about the day I had just endured. My mind went over all we had accomplished that day. I focused on all the things we had done wrong in our team’s travel. Things that had been drilled into us NOT to do. NO… the things that were BEAT into my head by highly skilled Special Forces, highly decorated Green Beret, Vietnam Veteran Instructors. I was keenly aware of (and needed to stay alive using) all of the protocol tactics taught me to save my life in a deadly jungle combat zone.

As I went over that first day, it dawned on me that our team had made several deadly mistakes in our travel. I felt so stupid to have been

guilty of allowing such deadly mistakes to pass without me taking note of them at the time. I set my mind to observe and think about everything from this point forward. Our lives depended on me staying alert to all things going on around me.

Hell, MY life depended on my alertness.

Who in the hell was smoking?

Day Two: I can’t say I slept because I kept all three of my eyes open all night: my left eye, my right eye, and my physic eye.

As the sun slowly appeared and rose in the clear morning sky, I saw the rest of the team preparing indigent meals.

These were small plastic bags filled with dehydrated, inch long baby fish, green peas chopped carrots and rice.

You fill the bag with water sealed it then let it soak a couple of hours or so as you traveled. This allowed the ingredients to soak up the water and become edible. I prepared my bag but didn’t eat anything for the next five days.

At about 1100 hours, after continuing the team’s travel, the team

picked up trackers. Tackers were local people who followed and tracked teams who had been dropped into their area. These trackers followed teams until the North Vietnam Army (NVA) troops could march into the jungle to capture or kill the team. The trackers hit bamboo sticks together to signal their other friends. This told other NVA groups where the other tracker groups were located as they coordinated their efforts to pinpoint the location of the U.S. Recon team.

I think the cigarette smoke of the new team leader alerted them we were in their area. I do not smoke and never had. So, I knew how bad it smelled and how far the cigarette smoke could be detected on lazy air currents.

All morning, I listen to the incessant banging bamboo sticks from the trackers as we traveled beside the trail.

The first tracker was behind us. Ten minutes, after I heard the first tracker’s bamboo hits, I heard a second tracker to my right. Five minutes later, I heard a tracker to my left.

My training told me the trackers had found the general location of the team

and the direction we were traveling.

I had been taught that you never ever let trackers drive you in front of them; to do so would have you walking into an ambush set up in front of you. A tracker picks up the trail of a Recon team then they signal their buddies that they found the trail. Their buddies signal back. But the recon team then knows the direction but not the distance of the trackers.

I kept thinking we would move in a different direction and that would take the team off the trail and deep into the jungle to shake, delay and confuse the trackers. But we didn’t.

We continued in the same direction.

About 3 pm, we stopped to rest. I signaled the team leader that I thought we should move away from the trail.

He shook his head NO and lit another cigarette. The team second in command took a swig of whiskey as everyone ate their meal. Everyone but me. My adrenaline was so high I couldn’t eat.

I’d like to think that I wasn’t scared.

Instead, I think of it as being on high alert. Very, very, high alert. The truth is you are too focused to be scared.

I again pissed in my pants just as I had done in training on our forced 50-MILE marches. I always pissed in my pants and never ever took my 100-pound pack off nor relaxed my grip on my CAR-15 rifle. On every mission I was on, 16 missions on my first tour in Vietnam, this is the way I operated.

It took all I had to contain myself and not explode over the smoking and drinking. I resolved right then and there that I was a walking dead man.

I would die due to what I viewed as stupidity on the part of two men who were scheduled to leave the team after this mission and return to the States.

We moved out after the 30-minute cigarette break. When I approached where the One-Zero had rested, I saw SEE TRUE STORIES OF A VIETNAM | PAGE 25

Old Salt: “Lucky Strike”

ucky Strike! If like me, you are old enough, you may be thinking L.S.M.F.T. That was on every pack of Lucky’s, meaning “Lucky Strike Means Fine Tobacco”. Lucky’s were very patriotic. Up until WWII, their cigarette pack was an Army green. The color changed with war!

As the ads put it, “Lucky Strike Green Has Gone to War”. General Blackjack Pershing famously said, “Give me enough cigarettes and I can win any war”. Man have things changed. Light up today and you will either be asked to leave or at least sneered at.

I don’t smoke, never have, but to me, it’s a personal choice. What bugs me is anti-smoking was one of the first signs that the snowflake segment of our population was going to take personal umbrage to whatever habit you or I may have. If you think about it, before the anti-smoking movement of the early ‘70s, we were a people who practiced live and let live.

Who gave these weak-minded liberals the right to be offended by anything you or I do?

This little article is not about smoking or tobacco. However, as a side note isn’t it interesting, puff a joint and you are right there in the liberal mix. The same politics that destroyed tobacco is tripping all over itself to legalize Mary Jane (the old street name for pot). Pretty soon I expect to hear ads touting things like “9 out of 10 doctors prefer Ace Marijuana”.

That’s a takeoff on the old Camels ad.

If destroying one vice only to legalize a more devastating vice is not the height of hypocrisy, I don’t know what is. Let’s face it anything advocated by a liberal is 99% B.S. and self-serving nonsense. The best recent example is the ultra-liberal socialist congresswoman who can’t distinguish a commode from a drinking fountain.

P.S. Let’s all send an old commode seat to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York. Mine will be adorned with

pictures of commodes and drinking fountains for her edification. Send me a picture of your creation and I will try to get it posted in this paper. Wouldn’t you love to see several thousand crapper seats sent to DC? By the way, “crapper” is not a bad word as the inventor of the modern commode was one Thomas Crapper (true story).

The “Lucky Strike” I refer too is about this lucky sailor, me! Or indeed it could be about you. Happily, some wise old Chief Petty Officer (CPO) informed me the real meaning of luck is “when preparation meets opportunity”. Those old Navy CPO’s were pretty smart. From that moment forward I made it a point to look at every situation or job, good or bad, as preparation for something yet unforeseen. It’s an attitude that helps you get through the rough spots on the way to fulfilling your wildest dreams.

A little case in point on attitude; last month my wife and I went on a Caribbean cruise on the cruise ship Vista.

During the trip, we noticed this one girl whose job was to keep the windows clean in the Ocean Terrace Café where we had breakfast every morning. We noticed how cheerful and determined she was to perform her work. Finally, we ask how she stays so happy at her seemingly monotonous duty. She said first she is grateful to have a job, and second, she makes it a game to quickly clean every handprint off the glass. What a wonderful attitude and

what a creative strategy to deal with an otherwise boring job. Her preparation will surely join opportunity soon enough. Her strategy works because all work is good work. By the way, the ship “Vista” is as big as the USS Forrestal or Saratoga but not nearly as exciting.

If you follow my articles you will recall I have pretty broad exposure to technology, no brag, just fact. Like all small boys from back in the day, I put my finger in the light socket early on.

You only do that once. Since that did not kill me it did set me on the curiosity journey. When I was 6 or 7, I would attempt to fix our vacuum tube radio and I had a Dad who always encouraged me and my brothers to do things ourselves. In my last article “Pictures Flying Through the Air” I told you of my first TV exposure. In addition to being around my dad, who was not afraid to try anything, we had moved to Florida in 1949 where we had this equally interesting neighbor. He was a self-made operator of the local Western Auto store in Cocoa, Florida. That neighbor recognized my interest and gave me this very complex textbook.

I poured over that book called “Electrical and Electronic Engineering” with the gusto today’s child digs into Harry Potter. As I recall, the book was written by Slurzberg and Osterheld.

Although I had little understanding of the principles therein, I did gain some basic kernels of knowledge. This is just

one instance where preparation meets opportunity. After high school, I was fortunate enough to get into the Navy Aviation Electronics “A” school. What textbook was used to teach the main principles of electronics? You guessed it, “Electrical and Electronic Engineering”, by Slurzberg and Osterheld. As a play on the author’s names the book was fondly call “Slush-pump” by Navy instructors. Once I had the benefit of Navy wizards, the very complex content of the book became crystal clear.

Everything I have related, from the finger in the light socket to succeeding in Naval Electronics School, is just the briefest example of how over preparation meets opportunity again and again. Don’t get me wrong, opportunity is golden, and you need to be ready to grab on as it may not pass by again.

I could relate scores of instances where the principle of preparation meets opportunity (some call it luck).

I cannot credit enough the tremendous preparation events I received from my 6-year U.S. Navy afforded me and how it paid off time and again. Let me relate a couple of amazing examples.

While awaiting discharge on my final Navy tour, I had been sent to Philadelphia Navy Ship Yard. Since Navy separation is a long and boring process, I decided to entertain myself by interviewing for jobs in the City SEE OLD SALT: “LUCKY STRIKE” | PAGE 25

why he stopped there. The trail split and the One-Zero lead us along the new trail but on the opposite side of the old trail.

About 1800 hours we stopped again.

I did not know it at the time, but this was to be our rest overnight (RON) location. Again, wrong compared to the way I had been taught. At dark, the NVA bamboo tracking signals stopped.

The correct RON procedure was that the team stops about 30 minutes before dark. When it is dark the team moves about 100 yards in a different direction than the way they had been traveling. This ensures that if the team had been observed stopping, the observer would not know where the team was really spending the night and the team could not be attacked at daybreak Day Three:

of Philadelphia. My goals were to get some interview practice to use back in Florida. One of the interviews was with IBM. I knew nothing of digital computers, but I had a solid foundation in electronics and understood the basics of digital electronics. I went through this long testing process and multiple interviews. Much to my surprise IBM managers practically begged me to relocate to Philadelphia. I accepted and got some great training and experience with IBM. While at IBM, I heard Burroughs Corporation was developing the most complex and powerful computer in history at their Great Valley Labs. They were looking for qualified computer people, so I tossed my hat in the ring.

Having IBM in my resume didn’t hurt.

The project was the Burroughs 8500, a stack architecture machine. Immediately I was sent to a nearly one-year class on every aspect of the hardware and software. As the project matured,

I again slept with my three eyes open. About 0200, I hear movement and a human grunt at what I thought was a short distance to my left across a small ravine. It’s important to understand that sound at night, through heavy moist air, travels a long way. It is very hard to judge distance. A foot away or 300 feet away? Who knows?

I wake the team. The Vietnamese Lieutenant was awake with big eyes as he crawled to me. He had the interpreter tell me in a whisper, “VC VC VC”. Viet Cong. The enemy.

In training, I was told that there was going to be no “friendlies”. If it moves in front of you, kill it. Hell, you did not have to tell me twice. I nodded and crawled up to the One-Zero.

I motioned to him we had to move as the One-One crawled up near us.

I motioned again to them both that we had to move. The team leader shook his head NO then said ‘Damn

new guy” loud enough to be heard in Washington DC. I crawled back to the Vietnamese Lieutenant and shook my head NO. His interpreter whispered, “WE DIE”.

That is not a good thing to say to anyone but when you say it to the new guy...

I motioned them to return to their positions. Yep, I am a walking dead man and there is no doubt about it.

My ears grew to be the size of elephant ears. More movement TO MY LEFT... This is not looking good.

About ten minutes later, the Vietnamese Lieutenant crawled toward me again. I could barely make him out it was so dark under triple canopy of the jungle. He whispered...

“WE GO!” I shook my head...YES... and signaled for him and the team to follow me. I crawled slowly to the One-Zero, the team leader, and pointed to myself and all of the four Vietnamese. Then I pointed back

into the jungle away from the ravine which was to my left.

The team leader said out loud. You “Damn new guy! We are not moving!” I pointed into the jungle away from the ravine again and started crawling into the jungle with all four Vietnamese following me in a line with about 3-yards between each man. As I crawled away I could hear my One-Zero shout, in a loud and angry voice... “You damn new guy!

I will have you Court Marshalled.”

Harold was a Sergeant in the US Army during Vietnam, serving 16 missions with as a Long Range Recon Green Beret while serving with the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group (MACV-SOG) and Command and Control North (CNN); where he was also awarded Purple. Harold is also a retired Lubbock Fire Fighter.

I became the chief technical guy for all the input and output devices. One of these devices was a high-speed card reader. The concept turned out to be far too advanced for the hardware technology of the day, so Burroughs scrapped the project. I was sent to Jacksonville, Florida, to support computers in the Federal Reserve Bank. This was boring duty.

Shortly after the tragic Apollo 1 fire, I took an opportunity to work for Link-General Precision at Kennedy Space Center (KSC). This also allowed me to move my family back to my beloved Cocoa, Florida. At KSC, I worked on the simulators in the Flight Crew Training Building.

On my first day, a manager took me on a familiarization tour of the simulators, computers, etc. After seeing the two Apollo and one Lunar Module setups, I had noticed a fourth standalone computer complex and inquired of its purpose. I was told it was an older, but fully compatible version, of the actual simulator

computers. It was previously used to test software but could not be used as they had been unable to boot-up the system for several months. I was told, being an older system, the boot up device is a highspeed card reader.

I immediately saw it was the same card reader I had become expert on. I asked if I could take a crack at it. Fifteen minutes later I, fortunately, had the reader working and the system up and running. Lucky coincidence?

I think it was preparation meeting opportunity. Needless to say, after that incident, my reputation soared.

Working at KSC introduced me to all kinds of new things such as realtime computing, analog and digital devices, simulation, not to mention the honor of rubbing shoulders with the brave men who went to the moon.

I left the Apollo program as politics was causing the space program to wind down. Thanks to my manager at Link-General Precision I was able to move on to Ampex Corporation.

Déjà vu all over again, in 1972 I found

Hewlett Packard was developing this great new computer that could be applied to all kinds of business and technical applications. Once again preparation kicked in. The HP 3000 computer was based on the exact same stack architecture I was immersed at Burroughs. Happily, the technology had caught up with the concept and I was able to make a 22-year career at HP. I only relate these events to demonstrate the concept of all work is good work and preparation will catch up with opportunity. I am sure you have your own examples. Do your best to convey this line of thought to all young people.

Nothing better than giving this kind of encouragement to a waiter, McDonalds worker, cashier, or other young person who is just starting their opportunity journey but may be struggling with the concept that all work is good work.

How Clays Make a Bang

hooting sports are becoming more and more popular across the country, especially in recent years. One way in particular that this sport has grown is in clay events, like registered and charity shoots. The community atmosphere of both types of events draws people of all ages to compete and support causes that are important to them.

Our range, the Lubbock Shooting Complex also has Hub City Clays on the property. Hub City Clays offers a Five Stand and 100-bird sporting clay course set across a caliche pit to offer different scenery and challenges for every type of shooter. We have just started hosting monthly registered shoots in 2019, but something we’ve done for years now is host private

and charity events at our range.

Whether a business wants to throw a customer appreciation shoot or an organization needs to raise funds, we have them covered. For example, our largest charity shoot of the year is with our partnership with The Inside Out Foundation (IOF) here in Lubbock. Gun Prohibitionists Re-Packaging Gun Control As Public Health Crisis

T

he billionaire-supported gun prohibition movement has re-packaged its gun control agenda as a public health crisis, trying to convince the public that the cure to violent crime is to amputate the Second Amendment from the Bill of Rights, the Second Amendment Foundation said today.

“They couldn’t sell gun control as crime control,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “Then they couldn’t sell gun control as gun safety. Now they’re trying to convince the public that gun ownership is a public health issue.

“But this isn’t about public health,” he added. “This is all about politics.

They’ve repackaged their agenda, but it’s the same old snake oil in a different bottle, and their strategy is right out of the gun control playbook.”

SAF, which hosts Doctors for Responsible Gun Ownership as one of its

priority projects, said the public should be alarmed at this campaign to equate gun ownership to a communicable disease. The SAF/DRGO project is a counter to the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and its Center for Gun Policy and Research.

Billionaire anti-gun-rights former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has reportedly donated $2.9 billion to the university over the years.

“What will they do next,” Gottlieb wondered, “attack freedom of speech as a mental health problem if someone openly disagrees with their crusade for public disarmament?

“For the health community to suggest that gun ownership is a public health problem amounts to medical malpractice,” he observed. “And by the way, medical malpractice kills a lot more people than firearms.”

Gottlieb’s warning comes as the Board of Health in King County,

Washington, is conducting a so-called “gun violence prevention summit” that doesn’t include a single representative from the firearms community. There is no input from firearms retailers, gun range operators or firearms instructors; not a single genuine gun safety expert.

“If there is a national crisis,” Gottlieb said, “trampling the rights of millions of healthy gun owners is not the cure.

Demonizing guns and gun owners amounts to practicing voodoo during brain surgery. You’ll make a lot of noise and get plenty of attention, but the patient dies.”

Does Any of This Make Any Sense?

L

ooking at the world around us it’s easy to find ourselves asking this question. When we see the suffering, the depression, the poverty, and the horror of everyday life for so many it’s hard not to see the nightmare reality of this world as a curse.

That’s a good place to start searching for the meaning in it all because it is a curse.

You see when God created the world He created it as a good thing, a wondrous, and beautiful thing. Here’s the rub; actions have consequences.

I’ve always thought if I ever found a perfect church I’d spoil it by joining because I’m not perfect. Most of us mature enough in life to realize we aren’t quite what we could or should be. Some people never attain this level of self-awareness and we judge them to suffer from a type of psychological problem known as narcissism. A central aspect of narcissism is grandiosity. That is, narcissists tend to think highly of themselves. In particular, they tend to have a positive view of themselves compared to other people.

Most of us don’t suffer from this malady. It is more often some form

of feeling we aren’t good enough that plagues us. Those who stumble out of a dysfunctional family are all too often familiar with this one.

Whatever brand of psychobabble seeps through our lives working itself out in hubris and braggadocio or anxiety and self-doubt it doesn’t take a genius to figure out this world is messed up. Neither is it too complicated for the least perceptive among us to discern. All too often what the world calls good is bad and what the world calls bad is good. This alone is enough to make us see the fractured carnival mirror reflection of justice that permeates our reality. Add to this our personal experiences and anyone who thinks we’ve found ourselves in a bed of roses may be fooling themselves but they aren’t fooling anyone else.

Anyone who can walk through this vale of tears with no faith is a better man than I Gunga Din. I wasn’t able to do it. I made it till I was thirty years old and the meaninglessness of it all was on the verge of driving me to suicide. I kept coming back to if that’s all there is, my friends then let’s keep dancing let’s break out the booze and have a ball if that’s all there is. However, I found living at the perpetual party

at the Restaurant at the End of the Universe was not very uplifting and after a while I couldn’t even pretend it was fun. How anyone can stagger through all this with no hope of anything beyond this is beyond me.

I can only pray that if they ever come to the end of themselves they will look to God. That’s what I did and I was surprised to find that God was looking at me.

‘Why is the world so messed up?

Because God made man His viceroy in this creation and instead of listening to God and doing things His way we listened to Satan and gave the whole shooting match away. The story is there for us in Genesis and because of that decision God laid a curse on the whole deal.

But He also gave us a promise at the same time that He would send a Savior. Jesus is that Savior. The penalty for disobeying God is eternal separation from God. The only way back is to live a perfect life which no one can do. So God became a human, lived a perfect life, and then died for the sins He never committed as a substitute for us.

In doing this He defeated sin, death, and the Devil. He also opened the way for all of us to get in on the action. All we have to do is accept

Jesus as our leader in life and believe that God raised Him from the dead and that’s it. The whole deal is reversed and we are once welcomed home. So let’s run like the prodigal to greet the Father who has waited for us, who greets us like the like lost child we are.

So does any of this make any sense?

It does. As a matter of fact it makes perfect sense.

You see no matter how messed up it is if we will accept God’s offer, if we will step past the end of ourselves and into His waiting arms the veil will fall from our eyes and we will see this world for what it is: an incubator for the children of God. It’s not a matter of seeing and then believing instead it’s a case of believing so you can see.

ur children in many school districts are preparing to grab their backpacks and climb on a school bus for the first time or once again. These are challenging days for parents and children to consider how safe their children’s minds and bodies might be in our public, tax-funded schools.

The lyrics of the classic 1930’s song, Summertime, come to mind as this generation of students live in the shadow of the hopeful words of this old song…”One of these mornings you’re going to rise up singing then you’ll spread your wings and you’ll take to the sky. But till that morning there’s nothing that can harm you with your daddy and mamma standing by.” With your daddy and mamma standing by VIGILANTLY, a child can be comforted by its lyrics… ”So hush little baby don’t you cry.”

The book “Guns of August” reminds us about the horrors of WWI. In wars, peace comes only when one opponent surrenders to the victor. As our children enter their classrooms, many are entering a war zone. The young minds of our children are the prize of this war zone clash of worldviews. My 7th grade grandson shared that his teacher shares his views through live CNN broadcasts in their classroom. What? Is there a “balanced” view from an equal time live FOX broadcast? As parents we must never forget that public schools were founded by the atheist/ agnostic John Dewey. In 1933 the Humanist Manifesto was written to keep God out of our public education conversations. So much of public education has become indoctrination. We picked up our five year old grandson last week from his public school and in the car, he shared that he feels like he can’t talk about God

in school anymore. “There’s nothing that can harm you with daddy and mamma standing by!”

Praise the public school teacher who boldly defends a student’s free speech right to talk about God and write about God in their classroom.

Beware of the teacher who poisons the minds of your children with lies and half-truths. Gender identity (dysphoria) is an adult bullet used to kill God’s definition of gender and family structure. When two females or two males are the main characters in grade school reading classes portrayed as “normal” family role models, the “Guns of August” are booming. “There’s nothing can harm you with daddy (a male) and mamma (a female) standing by.”

The day my school-age daughter came home to threaten me about how I could “be reported” for disciplining her, was the day I no longer trusted the public schools agenda of indoctrination. This “United States of America” has been blessed by God because we used to respect the laws of God. That continued blessing from our Creator cannot be expected when teachers/ curriculums teach our children to

mock God’s ways and attempt to “normalize” what is “right” in our own eyes. As in the movie, “The Patriot”, a father prepared his young sons to kill enemy soldiers, so we too, must teach our children to be heroes in our classrooms. Sadly, and amazingly, young men have recently given their lives to “fight” fellow students as they attempted to kill their own classmates. Now we must prepare our students to fight against the “bullets” of lies that threaten to destroy the foundation of any lasting nation. That foundation is a God-defined family.

G od have mercy on us as we, together, bravely fight for what is right in God’s eyes and not our own.

May we, with God’s help, be able to always sing over the sleepy eyes of our children and grandchildren, “Hush little baby, don’t you cry... daddy and mamma will protect you from the “Guns of August”.

Step Out of YOUR COMFORT ZONE

tatistics show that the number one way people come to church and get plugged in is by a personal invitation. Unfortunately, most people have a fear of inviting other people to worship and other church functions. I am reminded of the Scripture in Romans 10:14 that says, “How then will they call on Him whom they have not believed?

And how are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

According to researcher Thom Rainer, few Christians would disagree with the principle of the question “Would you like to come to church with me sometime?” We might even agree that inviting people to church is a key part of evangelism and central to the mission of any church body. And get this, people actually want to be invited to church, too: 9 out of 10 unchurched people say they would come to church if invited. I am sure the same is true for getting others involved in church activities, groups, and volunteer opportunities. People like to be invited and to feel included.

Ephesians 4:16: He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.”

I believe it is never an accident when someone walks through the door of our church. Every visitor and every member have a special purpose to assist in God’s will for our church and our role in the community and even the world.

As Christians, and disciples, it is our obligation to react and respond to the feeling that the Holy Spirit places in our heart or mind when it comes to sharing or inviting others. We do not need to feel comfortable in doing it,

we just need to do it and let God take it from there.

Here are some tips to get around the fear that may have stood in your way up to now: Pray you’d have God’s heart for the lost. Pray that God would give you a powerful love for those who do not know him. Trust that he will give you that love through the Holy Spirit.

Pray for Courage. The fear that is standing in the way of your faithfulness and giving you comfort in your sin of silence is the work of the enemy.

Pray for deliverance from fear, pray for courage, and pray for boldness. The Holy Spirit will meet you there.

Pray for Specific People. Pray that God will put five people on your heart you will invite to church or to a church activity you are involved in. When he does, trust that he will give you the courage you just prayed for to be faithful in reaching out to people he put on your heart.

Remember your own calling. Instead of focusing on your fears, redirect your mind to the grace of God in your own life.

Remember the Gospel. The goal of inviting others to church, to studies or just to be involved is for growth: through the preaching of the gospel of

Jesus Christ, God will open blind eyes and a dead heart to believe. This is a continual growth for everyone.

I hope the next time you hear that

voice or that tug from the Holy Spirit speaking to you, that you act upon it.

Invite someone, the joy you will experience seeing your friend meet Jesus will make all the fear you had to fight through seem like a breeze.

Whom does God want you to invite to church, to your Sunday school class, or the ministry area you are involved in?

Invite them to hear the gospel and to grow in their relationship with Christ this fall?

The Crosses of Calvary...Why THREE?

I

n all four of the Gospels, it is reported that Jesus did not die alone on Calvary but, rather, in the company of two other men.

Mathew (27:38) tells us, “Two insurgents were crucified along with him, one at his right and one at his left.”

Similarly, we read in Mark (15:27), “With him they crucified two insurgents, one at his right and one at his left.” Luke (23:33) explains, “When they came to Skull Place, as it was called, they crucified him there and the criminals as well, one on his right and the other on his left.”

Finally, John (19:18) concurs, “There they crucified him, and two others with him: one on either side, Jesus in the middle.”

Why three?! If I were God, I would have had Jesus alone so that all the attention would be on Him and no one else would have shared the spotlight.

Why three? Why not two or four or ten? I never had ever thought about it much before and perhaps you haven’t either, just taking it as a “matter of fact.” But there is a very important reason why three. Just as each scene in a movie is not included “by accident” but rather because it is important to the filmmaker that it be seen by the viewer, we can be certain that God wanted us to remember three crosses... but why? The answer will be found in Luke. But before he tells us, I want to tell you about the most important person in my life.

I met Paula 26 years ago when she was 40. Since that time, I became a close family friend to her, her husband, children, and grandchildren. Never have I ever seen a person suffer as much as she did. She refused to make a big deal out of the many medical conditions she had because she did not want to draw attention to herself and refused to allow physical impairments to stop her

from living life to the fullest and doing everything she could to help loved ones and strangers alike.

On July 3, Paula’s spirit was freed from her body after eight months of supremely intense pain. Throughout the entire time, it was my great gift to know and be with her, she accepted her multiple conditions as God’s will and never complained, never faltered, never quit. Instead, she resolutely prayed each day for the honor of joining her suffering with the suffering of Jesus and asked for the gift of suffering so that her children, grandchildren, and babies about to be aborted would be spared from feeling pain so intensely.

She modeled love and I have no doubt she was asking Jesus to let her suffer, like Him, for others right up to the very hour of her death. For Jesus tells us in John 15:13, “No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

When I told people what Paula did with her pain, they were often astounded by her faith and love. Of course,

many of my therapist colleagues might say to me, “Ha! A classic example of a martyr complex.” To them, I say, in turn, that they are classic examples of superficial myopic perception bordering on the inane in its lack of depth.

For they would equally be confused by the words of Paul in Colossians 1:24 when he writes, “Even now I find my joy in the suffering I endure for you.

In my own flesh I fill up what is lacking in the sufferings of Christ for the sake of his body, the church.” And what is

it that is “lacking in the sufferings of Christ”...simply OUR participation as we unite our sufferings with His. The reason for three crosses becomes clearer now and Luke helps us to understand when he tells us in 23:39-42 of one of the criminals who blasphemed Christ while hanging in crucifixion, “Aren’t you the Messiah?

Then save yourself and us.” But the other one rebuked him, “Have you no fear of God, seeing you are under the same sentence? We deserve it after all.

We are only paying the price for what we’ve done, but this man had done nothing wrong.” He then said, “Jesus, remember me when you enter upon your reign.”

There you have it...the answer for three crosses. There has always been, is now and always will be only two choices when we are faced with great pain and suffering...we either blaspheme God, and spew out poison with hatred the main emotion or, like the “good thief” and like Paula, we unite our sufferings with the sufferings of Christ where love is the primary concern. The world needs more true martyrs, not less. I have long prayed that I might follow in the footsteps of Jesus... now I have added Paula’s!

Until the 20th Century and the rise of the Socialist Left, defending life was the cornerstone of Western Civilization.

Robert Mueller’s Hearing

emocrats such as Nadler and Schiff had high hopes that Mueller would spill some sort of anti-Trump beans. They want to restart the Russian collusion farce. The want our president impeached.

Many of the Democrats praised Mueller effusively and honored him for his service. Indeed, Mueller does deserve honor for his service as a marine.

His behavior as an FBI head and now special prosecutor has been less than honorable.

Taxpayers spent close to 40 million dollars so he could drag out the witch-hunt. Mueller was installed to protect the swamp and after what I saw today, that swamp can finally begin to be drained.

The witch-hunt is over.
