Vitamin C, zinc, magnesium and calcium are the key nutrients that help in boosting immunity. Vitamin C and zinc have been used for decades for cold treatment. The nutrients do not prevent the sick but help a lot in alleviating the symptoms. Foods rich in vitamin C include oranges, red bell pepper, broccoli, strawberries, pineapple and kiwis.
