Teacher in training: Paula Daniela Fonseca Guerrero

Title of the Unit: Healthy habits

Contextualization: This didactic unit is designed for students of the English course in the SINEP scenario, which is a virtual education space offered by UNAD that allows access to inclusive and quality education for young people and adults in Colombia. The course aims for students to achieve an intermediate-basic level of the English language through the practice and strengthening of the different communicative skills of the foreign language.

Justification: During the process of choosing the topic to develop this didactic unit, two main reasons were taken into account. The first reason relates to the main training objective of the SINEP English course, which seeks to provide its students with the opportunity to strengthen their linguistic and communicative skills in the English language in order to reach an intermediate-basic level. The above comes from activities that allow them not only to acquire knowledge, but also to put them into practice in their daily life or a real context.

On the other hand, the reason why the topic of healthy habits was chosen is because it is one of the topics that students are working in the collaborative forum of the course to not only implement the content established, but also to raise students' awareness of the importance of avoiding bad habits to improve the different aspects of their personal and academic lives, in addition to having a space aimed at developing collaborative learning and skills that allow students to share their different views and experiences with their peers in the foreign language. Therefore, this unit was seen as an opportunity to deepen the learning process that students are carrying out at this moment in the course.

Organization of the Didactic Unit: This Didactic Unit is organized in three sessions of one hour each. The sessions aim at a specific development of communication skills in the foreign language in relation to the topic of healthy habits and the three different

grammatical contents that will be worked.

Session 1: This session will focus on English language listening skills. Here, students identify new vocabulary related to the topic of healthy habits, likewise, they will work adverbs of frequency to talk about healthy habits that are made regularly in daily life.

Session 2: This session will focus on English language reading and writing skills. Here, students will recognize how to use adjectives to compare the negative or positive impact of using healthy and unhealthy habits in daily life.

Session 3: This session will focus on English language speaking skills. Here, students will recognize how to give advice in a real-life context, to improve living conditions with healthy habits.
