Editor’s letter: Welcome to the first edition of NKO!!!

The aim of this zine is to give light to small artists, businesess, share opinions, music or movies, in other words it’s a safe space from Normis (ew) Our first featured artist will be Rebe. The reason why I chose her is simply because she was the one that isnpired this whole zine. Her 90s-fairy style with spanish folklore touches is something that mesmerized me. This first edition will be dedicated and isnpired by her, hope you like it!

Rebe the “lo-fi” nymph that covers spanish pop classics From the comodity of her bedroom, the artist born in Madrid transports us into a reality full of flowers, butterflies and melancholy. that we are looking at a very personal and intimate space, that she herself is letting us into.

Music that could very possibly be in a dream inhabited by fairies and mythological creatures, this is what Rebe’s first LP sounds like, “Recuerdos de cuando me aplastó una roca y me morí”.

Rebe is presented as something clompletely different from the young artists that seem to be getting the spotlight. She has shared stage with artists such as Putochinomaricón, Belenciana or Marcelo Criminal, she was also invited to the last edition of Puwerty.

Everything the musician does seems to be located in the same universe: her room. A teenage room full of references to the personality of her owner.

Musical isnpiration. Jeannete, Rubi, Las Elbis Rever, Menara, Cucurucha, Isabella Lovestory, Cathy Claret, Vashti Bunyan, Los Brincos, Cardevore… These are some of the names that come to mind right now, there are so many, it’s hard to choose.

Inspiration when actualizing tour IG account. lately, toads and frogs like @yaboi_toby_toad, also bird memes like @birb.boba and @birb_borb._ ... And my loves @amor.amor.amor.amor and @bella_xocolatuina are always there. I don’t know, it changes a lot depending on the time.

Favourite artistic discipline. the discipline of being a really atractive fairy ‘Cover’ that you haven’t dared to do yet. I did do it, but it has been super complicated and funny: “La Zamora” How did you come up with the idea of creating an LP like Recuerdos de cuando me aplastó una roca y me morí? I started making music in my room and uploading it to Soundcloud. It was later when the idea of making a compilation came.

In what party can we find you? In my town’s party :p The movie that you have watched the most times. I don’t know about a movie, but I do recomend an episode of Maya the bee in the morning wiht coffee <3 A concert that you’ve done and that you have a good memory of. The presentation of Recuerdos de cuando me aplastó una roca y me morí in the Heliogábal in Barcelona. It was really intimate, several people cried and I felt reallt welcomed (snif) A concert you went to that you have a good memory of. Ay I don’t go to many concerts, but I really liked the last one I saw of Daniel Daniel :3 Is there something that you haven’t done yet that you really want to do? Have money and do a trip visiting bars with the best “torreznos” of Spain

Paula’s Movie Picks Muriel’s Wedding.

Wedding Equal parts funny and sad, this film is about a somewhat hopeless Australian woman named Muriel who is obsessed with ABBA and whose ultimate life goal is to get married. Fed up with her life in the not-so-charming Porpoise Spit, she runs away to Sydney with a forged check in her father’s name and decides to reinvent herself.

Los santos inocentes is considered one of the most iconic films in spanish cinema. Mario Camus (director) dives into a timeless space to show and portray a reproduction of feudal hirearchy and the innequality between house owners and house workers.

Maya the bee. bee I know it’s not a movie but I also recommend it :)

Ash is purest white. white I haven’t watched a film that impressed me as much as this one in a very long time. It’s one of those movies where there isn’t much dialogue but it stills transmits more feeling and emotion than most films. In essence is about a couple that form part of some kind of chinese mafia and their change through time, but is so much more than that, its about pride, revenge and love.
