SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM BOARD DIRECTOR

WARREN GELLER

Hello Friends,

I've been asked to write a brief article about my serving for nine years as your Board President. I notified the Board prior to last month's election that I would not accept a nomination for any executive position.

Having served this community for over a decade, and as your President for nine years, has truly been a privilege. I have enjoyed working closely with our Community Manager and your Board of Directors to ensure our HOA was in full compliance with all legal requirements as well as working with your Board to increase your home's value. We continually have a low inventory of homes for sale, which is a large tribute to the efforts made by all to show perspective buyers that choosing Sun City Aliante is a wise investment as well as an enjoyable place to call home.

As I stated in my President's comments at the May meeting, we have a wonderful group of people who are FirstService Residential employees, who represent us as a friendly, entertaining and award winning community

I want to sincerely express my gratitude to all who supported me in my desire to always be at your

overwhelming vote of confidence sustains your Board and me and confirms that we are doing the right things. I anticipate completing the remaining year of my term, and I eagerly look forward to addressing the many issues that present themselves to any large association.

Respectively submitted,

Sun City Aliante Wins CAI's Outstanding Large Association Award for 2023

We are proud to announce that Sun City Aliante has won the Community Associations Institute (CAI) as the 2023 Southern Nevada Outstanding Large Association of the Year This is the sixth consecutive year our community has been considered for this prestigious award (the equivalent of the “CAI Oscar”). SMILES – The Longest Word in Our Vocabulary (Because there is a mile between each S)

This past winter I was in the airport gate area along with the rest of my fellow passengers who were waiting for our delayed flight out of Las Vegas. I saw a young child do something really cute – I can't even remember what it was. But it made me smile to watch. I walked away, still smiling, and was surprised to see other waiting passengers smiled right back at me! I had so much fun keeping that smile on my face and watching others react by smiling back. It made me realize that smiling is one of the most effective means of non-verbal communication. Smiling is an act of kindness to others to cheer them up, to make their day, or to just feel someone cares.

Here are a few inspiring “smile” quotes. Go ahead, try to read through all of them without smiling!

• A smile is a curve that sets everything straight. (comedienne. Phyllis Diller)

GENERAL MANAGER

THANK YOU TO THE ELECTION COMMITTEE FOR A JOB WELL DONE

I want to take this opportunity to thank all the members of the Election Committee for their work on a myriad of tasks that culminated in the election of our new Board of Directors (BOD) for 2024-2025.

The Election Committee is responsible for overseeing the Board of Directors Election process, including the counting of the ballots and the certification of election results. A

Committee members: Chairperson, Larry Rothstein; Secretary, Chris Wickliff; Linda

volunteers who assisted with the ballot counting.

The election process began with the publication of a Candidate Interest Form and Disclosure Statement as inserts in the January 2024 issue of The Breeze. We informed residents the forms must be completed and submitted to the Front Desk no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, February 5, 2024.

This year we had four open positions to be filled on the Board of Directors for two-year terms. As of the 5 p.m. deadline, nine candidates had submitted Candidate Interest Forms and Disclosure Statements and entered the race for election to the 2024 Board.

The candidates were Sonja Bankston-Cullen (incumbent); Mark Benz; Edward E Ernest (incumbent); F

Packowski; Orlando Romero; Ed Sloman and Mark Smith (incumbent). As we received more qualified entrants than open Board positions, we needed to have a formal election.

This set the Election process in motion, and the Election Committee swung into action. The Committee's first order of business was to ensure the candidate bios and photographs were as widely disseminated as possible.

To that end, the Committee placed a poster with photos of the candidates and their bios in a prominent location in the Community Center Chairperson, Larry Rothstein, also ensured that pertinent information related to the election and candidate bios and photographs were published in The Breeze and eBlast and posted on the Sun City Aliante website.

The Sun City Election Committee, led by Chairperson Larry Rothstein, hosted an informative Candidate Forum on March 9 which was attended by eight Candidates: Sonja Bankston-Cullen; Mark Benz; Edward Ernest; Felton Hyche; Kathy Martin; Ray Packowski; Ed Sloman; and Mark Smith. (Orlando Romero did not attend the Candidate Forum and shortly after withdrew his name from the election).

The event was well received by approximately 150 residents in the audience who had the opportunity to learn more about each candidate during the question and answer discussion, led by the Forum Moderator, Steve Vitali.

The Election Committee also arranged to have a video of the Candidate Forum, created and edited by Richard Lawhead, posted on the Sun City Aliante website for interested residents who were not able to attend the entire event.

The next step was mailing official ballots to all homeowners in late March. Completed ballots were submitted by USPS or hand-delivered to the ballot box in the Community Center by the deadline of Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 8 a.m. Election Day finally arrived. The Annual Meeting of the Sun City Aliante

Homeowners Association was convened on Wednesday, May 8 at 8 a.m. and then was recessed to count the ballots. Due to the efficiency of the Election Committee and their team of approximately 30 volunteers, the vote counting process ran smoothly

The Election Chairperson reported the results during the BOD meeting that day Of the 774 ballots received, a total of 50 were disqualified for one reason or another Congratulations to the new Board of Directors: Sonja BankstonCullen; Mark Benz; Warren Geller; Kathy Martin; Nancy Prince; Ed Sloman; and Mark Towers. Please see page 8 for details.

The Organizational Meeting was postponed to a later date when Board members will meet among themselves to determine the new Board officers.

I want to emphasize how much we appreciate the work of the Election Committee, led by Election Chair, Larry Rothstein, in helping us maintain the highest standards possible in the election of our Board of Directors, the volunteer leaders of our amazing community We commend the Election Committee for executing a flawless 2024 election from start to finish.

We also held many exciting events in the past couple of months. Many were planned, organized, and executed by our Lifestyle Director, Debbie Kent, along with the awesome front desk and maintenance teams and volunteers. Kudos to Debbie and her team for another free Shredding Event on April 18; an amazing Community Associations Institute (CAI) Award Celebration on April 23, and a New Resident Welcome, Chartered Club & Special Interest Group Expo, along with Food Truck Fun treats on May 16… to name a few

In addition, thank you to the Communications Committee and Breeze Editor Trish Williamson for organizing and executing an Advertiser's Meet 'n' Greet event, complete with breakfast and prizes enjoyed by many residents on April 25.

Finally, I hope you were able to attend the Candidate Meet 'n' Greet on May 22 in the Vista Room where you were able to meet and speak directly to local, state, and federal Candidates. Do not forget voting will be held on Primary Election Day on Tuesday, June 11, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Social Hall of the Community Center

Best wishes and enjoy the month!

After a very competitive four months, with the help of some 30 resident volunteers and led by a very knowledgeable Election Committee, the ballot box was opened and emptied at the Annual Homeowners Meeting on May 8 and the votes were tabulated.

Eight residents were running for the four open Board positions for a two-year term, 2024-26. Out of the 774 ballots received, 50 had to be disqualified for one reason or another The number of votes received by each candidate and subsequent election results are as follows:

Sonja Bankston-Cullen 424

Mark Benz 416

Kathy Martin 411

Ed Sloman 344

Mark Smith 341 Ed Ernest 318 Felton Hyche 276 Ray Packowski 227

The four Candidates who received the majority of votes were duly seated on the Board. Congratulations to our new Board!

There are many people to thank for the success of this year's election. They say, “It takes a village.” It does to make sure the election process is run effectively, accurately and transparently More than 30 resident volunteers plus my hard-working committee made that happen. Many others have to be thanked.

My sincere appreciation to our management team, Community Association Manager, Damian Carrasco, and Assistant Manager, Nelenie Hernandez, and Customer Service Coordinator, Carol Garbarino for their assistance. Thank you to Lifestyle Director, Debbie Kent, and her volunteers for the great breakfast served before the election day ballot counting.

Special thanks to Art Davis for creating the professional Candidate poster, which was prominently displayed in the Grand View Room, and to Trish Williamson, The Breeze Publisher and Editor, for creating the Candidate flyers, and her assistance with writing many articles and eBlasts related to the election.

I also want to thank our Facilities Manager, Juan Macias, and his team for setting up the Vista Room for the Candidate's Forum and the Annual Meeting and ballot count and Office Manager Lori Daniels for never saying no to my many requests.

Finally, I want to express my appreciation to the Sun City Election Committee, you're the best! Many thanks to Chris Wickliff… my very able sec

volunteers; and Sylvie Courtemarsh… for her spreadsheet used to finalize the total ballot count for each candidate. For hard working Committee members Renee Snodgrass and Mady Shapiro…we couldn't have done it without you. And to the 30 invaluable resident volunteers who confirmed and counted the ballots…you were the heart and soul of the election process.

Until next year!

Adventures Ahead

As we move into the summer months, many residents have more time to explore opportunities for participation in the various activities coordinated through the Sun City Aliante Lifestyle Department. Here is what is happening in June:

When I went back home to visit my parents in San Francisco in April, I was asked by one of their friends, “how is it like to work as a Director of Compliance around retired people?” I chuckle when I am asked that question because I have so much to say. There's the good, the bad, and the ugly But everybody who has a job can have a n s w e r s t h a t

m

a l i z e d i

s e categories. One thing I always say is I learn from my residents every day – from how to have a successful marriage, to how to stay healthy, to the best places to travel, and everything in between.

Another perk I get from being with seasoned residents is the life lessons and experiences they love to share with me. I gravitate towards those residents who have an amazing sense of humor, good character, and humility Over the years, I have garnered admirable homeowners who visit me in the office or give me a call and pour out their words of wisdom and sometimes suggestions on what to write in my articles, mostly along the lines of doing what is right even though it's hard, no matter how unpopular or how much criticism it may attract. Good people, great conversations.

To our new homeowners: WELCOME! I hope you are enjoying yourselves and quite satisfied with your new home whether you came from another homeowner's association (HOA) in Nevada, an HOA from a different state or this is your very first HOA. Sun City Aliante is different. Nevada is different. Please get to know us and the association. There may be things you didn't expect or people you've never dealt with before; either way, stay calm and ask questions before jumping to conclusions.

Remember, “Heaven and hell are the only mandatory membership organizations which can guarantee compatibility of neighbors.” - Byron R. Hanke and Thomas S. Kenny

So, now that summer season is here, there will be guests in the Community Center, especially children or teens visiting grandma and grandpa. As a reminder, it is not a violation for individuals under the age of nineteen (19) to stay overnight, as long as it doesn't exceed ninety (90) days per calendar year Homeowners are responsible for their guests at all times. All guests must abide b y t h e R u l e s a n d R e

homeowners/tenants.

That means no loud music, bicycles on the golf course, feeding wildlife on your property (especially in Common Areas, specifically by the waterfalls and fountain by the parking lot), or diving in the pool. For more information on these rules, please visit www.suncityaliante.org and look for Documents > Governing > Rules and Regulations.

The Age Verification Survey is due in AUGUST; so please, if you have not turned in your form, submit it to me, Carol, or drop it off at the Front Desk. You are also welcome to email it to suncityaliante@fsrnevada.com. If you are a new homeowner and registered with Carol Garbarino recently, there is no need to submit a form as she has already collected this from you during registration.

Congratulations to the new Board of Directors. May the spirit of goodwill, harmony, and humility guide you and the betterment of the community be the goal.

Please read Councilman Richard Cherchio's article on this page for clarification regarding the importance of sustaining funding for our community.

I always welcome your comments and suggestions. If you have any questions, please call or text me at 702-429-1623 or email twilliamson@suncityaliante.us.

Editor, The Breeze

COUNCILMAN WARD 4 RICHARD CHERCHIO

Hello Sun City Residents:

I want to speak about a couple of important items that are actually tied together

On May 8, we cut the ribbon on our new North Central Area Command "NACA" located at 1090 W Deer Springs. This 25,606 square foot facility provides community space for meetings and houses over 80 police officers, who will spend time in the field interacting with residents and businesses, along with community policing. We have made investing in public safety a top priority To accomplish this, we need your support and VOTE on this next issue.

SOS! Save Our Safety! I'm sure you have seen the signs put up around our city about this initiative. I want to just clarify what we are speaking about, because I care about our city and all our residents.

Background history In 1995, before many of us were residents, North Las Vegas passed Resolutions 1796 and 1818 establishing a special tax override for street maintenance; and in 2001, it included city parks and fire stations. Resolution 1902, passed in 1996, was created to fund much needed Public Safety.

Today, 30 years after the initial vote, our community now has the opportunity to continue to support this funding for these vital services. Our vote in the upcoming primary will determine if we continue to maintain these funds for the purposes intended or lose the funds entirely I urge you to vote “yes” on Questions 1 & 2 on the ballot to continue funding public safety services. Your vote is critical to ensure this much needed funding will not revert back to the state and be lost forever.

Questions 1 & 2 will determine if North Las Vegas will continue to maintain two tax overrides that invest in Funds 268 and Funds 287 for public safety, police, fire, streets, and parks. If passed, property tax rates will not change for residents. These questions will be on the Primary Election Ballot on June 11, 2024.

I want to emphasize if Questions 1 & 2 are NOT approved, our property taxes will NOT go down, as they are already capped. Unfortunately, it would just allow those funds to be used for other purposes statewide. I call that a lose/lose for North Las Vegas, meaning All of US! I urge you as a fellow resident, not as your Councilperson, to support the passage of Questions 1 and 2, and please vote YES.

If this tax override does not pass because of the perception of the word "Tax,” we will lose revenues needed to increase our Police and Fire employees and to keep up with increasing growth. Properly funding public safety is also essential to maintaining our property values. Simply put, if these two ballot initiatives fail, we will not be able to maintain our public safety, continuing growth, and all the good things it brings such as restaurants, improved roads, parks and recreation and other needed services.

It is important to understand our municipality does not have home rule, which means we rely on the State to provide necessary funding to operate. This tax override ballot initiative is the only funding that has been provided directly to us, by our previous vote 30 years ago. It does not go anywhere other than to North Las Vegas. In comparison, all of the other taxes we pay sales taxes, normal property taxes, vehicle registration taxes, and virtually every other tax… goes directly to the State to be divided among all the jurisdictions statewide.

The "SOS! Save Our Safety," signage was paid for by volunteer donors including myself, my council colleagues, and other private businesses and residents because we know the facts and care. Not one cent came from your paid taxes!

In closing, please remember a “yes” vote on Question 1 & 2 means the current property tax override will be maintained for an additional thirty (30) years and the revenue from the tax will be used to acquire, improve, equip, operate, and maintain the City's streets, parks, and fire and police stations. For detailed information, please visit the website: https://www.cityofnorthlasvegas.com/our-city/2024-cnlv-public-safetyballot-questions

I urge you to support the passage of Questions 1 and 2, and vote YES.

Yours in Service,

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

MONTHLY BULLETIN:

Neighborhood Watch often talks about safety around your home but this month we would like to focus on safety while you are on vacation. It is that time of year when we may be traveling near or far and for a short time or an extended trip. The information below was provided by the North Las Vegas Police Department, Community Engagement Division. You've heard it before but it's always good to be reminded.

• Purchase special clothing or accessories to hide your passport, money, or credit cards. Keep the majority of your funds hidden.

• Leave excessive jewelry at home. Consider wearing costume jewelry rather than your valuable or sentimental jewelry.

• Keep handbags in front of you and closed with the fastening toward your body If possible, keep your wallet in your front pants pocket.

• Beware of being jostled or bumped when you are in a crowd. Pickpockets could be trying to distract you.

• Be careful when you use your cell phone. Don't leave it out on a table–keep it in your purse or pocket.

• Place valuables in a hotel safe-deposit box or room safe. Don't leave them out in the open in your hotel room.

• Familiarize yourself with escape routes in hotels so you can act quickly in case of emergency.

Residents are always welcome at the Neighborhood Watch meetings. Please join us on June 20 at 4:30 p.m. For information regarding the Sun City Aliante Neighborhood Watch program, contact our coordinator, Jim Blossey, at jimandpatb@embarqmail.com or 775-530-5119.

PATROL COMMITTEE

Last month, we discussed what burglars look for when they plan to burglarize a home including jewelry, money or collectibles “hidden” in the drawers or closets of your master bedroom as well as iPads, laptops and electronic games. Thieves are typically looking for small items with monetary value they can grab quickly and resell easily

A home burglary can happen anywhere – the city, the suburbs and in rural areas. According to the most current data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, residential properties accounted for almost 63% of all reported burglaries in 2019. Don't let your home become another statistic.

Help minimize the risk of burglary and keep your home more secure with these suggested measures.

Windows and doors – Lock and secure all entry points. Believe it or not, it may be one of the simplest and most obvious precautions that homeowners tend to forget, and which burglars tend to exploit. Maybe you've lived on the same street for decades and doubt it could ever happen to you. Maybe you're in a rush and skip the usual routine. Whatever the situation, try to remember to lock your doors and windows when you go out.

Strong door locks - Install deadbolt locks on all exterior doors and doors from an attached garage. Select a deadbolt that has been given a Grade 1 from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The ANSI tests locks for security and durability, and gives them a Grade 1, 2 or 3 with Grade 1 being the best.

Door strike plates - To help make existing locks more secure, install a heavy-duty strike plate using three-inch screws that penetrate the wall stud. Make sure the door strike is held in place by four or more screws. You can also strengthen the door frame by installing a door jamb reinforcement product.

Security signage - Add a security sign to your yard or stickers to your door It may not fool a burglar, but he may think twice about hitting your home.

Alarm system- Consider setting up a home security system with cameras. You might even qualify for discounts on your homeowner's insurance.

Landscaping – Keep shrubs and bushes trimmed so burglars have fewer places to hide. If you're in the process of adding new landscaping, maybe opt to plant thorny bushes such as roses under and around windows. You might also consider using gravel on walkways or below windows, as the crunching noise of footsteps can help deter a burglar as they typically prefer a quiet entry.

Exterior lighting - Install motion sensor lighting near entry points to catch intruders by surprise — but put it high enough that a burglar can't reach up and unscrew the bulb.

Clean up - Put tools, ladders, bikes, and other valuable items away when you're done using them. If your possessions are too visible, burglars may wonder what else you have inside.

Furry home protector - Dogs can be good burglar deterrents, especially large breeds. Let your dog be seen — and heard. A thief who knows there's a d o g i n t h e h o u s e m a y d e c i d e t

n a l seminars, and outings that add to the quality of our

separate weekly eBlasts, each with a specific focus. Let's take a look at the different types of eBlasts.

Lifestyle Special Events

This eBlast informs you of the latest upcoming events, as well as information on new events that are open for registration. It serves as both a reminder and an announcement. It also provides updates if an event is sold out or cancelled. Our Staff is always working hard to find events that strike the right chord, events you can easily attend with a group of friends, making these outings special.

Meeting and Notices

This eBlast informs you of upcoming Board and Committee meetings as well as valuable general information. Meetings are important to the inner workings of our community. You are invited to attend all meetings (except for Board Executive Sessions and Covenants Committee). Committee m e e t i n g s a r e w h

Directors for consideration. Rarely does a project just happen, it takes your fellow homeowners, serving as committee members, working as a team, to ensure the best outcomes. Homeowners are encouraged to attend any meeting that piques their interest. While only committee members can participate in the committee deliberations, you can get a great sense of the time and effort involved to see a project through.

Lunch 'n' Learn and Snack 'n' Learn Seminars

This eBlast keeps you informed of the many upcoming Lunch 'n' Learn and Snack 'n' Learn educational seminars the Breeze Editor has planned. Usually hosted by The Breeze advertisers, each seminar focuses on a particular topic designed to improve or add value to our lives. This eBlast offer a wide range of educational topics from medical and dental services to financial and legal services to home and personal services to real estate and senior living.

Chartered Clubs and Special Interest Groups

This eBlast promotes upcoming events and meetings that are planned by the 40+ Chartered Clubs and Special Interest Groups. Representatives of each club or group are invited to email submission requests to the Breeze Editor, Trish Williamson at twilliamson@suncityaliante.us, before noon on Wednesdays for publication in the Thursday eBlast.

Special Notices

These eBlasts provide targeted, timely information that you need to be aware of immediately Recently, you have been receiving notices about the Board of Directors Election and Budget Workshop. Elections are a regular function of community life; you are electing people to act on your behalf. Taking time to read all special notices is crucial.

The Staff and the Association want you to be aware of important information that may not be found in The Breeze. For example, during the Pandemic, these eBlasts provided targeted information about administration of the COVID-19 vaccines at the Community Center

Our FirstService Residential staff, along with the Board of Directors, work hard to bring valuable information to enhance the quality of life for residents of Sun City Aliante. If you receive an email that is not relevant to you, just delete it. The next one could be right up your alley

If you don't currently receive the eBlasts, or you don't have an account on the SunCityAliante.org website, just stop by the Front Desk and inform one of the Lifestyle Associates you want to sign up for the eBlasts. Complete the information on the “green card,” turn it in and you are ready to go. Alternatively, you can go online to the SunCityAliante.org website and login to your account or, if you don't already have an account, register for one. If you are already registered on the website, just login, go to Your Profile, select “Update Profile,” and go to the bottom of the form and select “yes” to receive the eBlast. If you are not registered, just select “Register” and fill in the information including “Yes” for eBlast at your listed email address. Then select “I Am Not a Robot” and select “Continue.” Someone from the Communication Committee will verify and complete your registration process.

A note about The Breeze. This publication is a very important tool. Most events are published in The Breeze. Monthly inserts include a “Save the Date” flyer and a calendar with meeting times for clubs and fitness schedules. Advertisers in The Breeze do business in our community, and they are trying to improve your quality of life. Their ads pay for the magazine, with any extra monies beyond expenditures for The Breeze going back to the community If you have any questions regarding the eBlasts or The Breeze, please contact Trish Williamson at 702-429-1623 or email twilliamson@suncityaliante.us.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS AND CURES FOR CATARACTS?

M onday, June 10, 11 a.m.

Join Nevada Eye Physicians on June 10 and learn about the symptoms and treatments for Cataracts, one of the leading causes of visual decline in people above the age 50.

Human eyes have a natural lens inside the eye that helps focus and see things. Due to the natural aging process, the natural lens can become cloudy and interfere with vision.

If you have difficulty with activities, such as night driving, watching TV, reading, computer work etc., you should have your eyes checked. Cataract surgery is the best cure for this condition. It is one of the most simple and successful procedures performed in medicine today. After surgery, patients usually return to regular activities within 24-48 hours.

HOW MONEY WORKS FOR WOMEN – TAKE CONTROL OR LOSE IT!

Tuesday, June 25, 11 a.m.

Where did you learn about money? It’s not taught in schools, so many of us learn from our parents or friends. We, as women talk about anything and everything with our closest friends and family, but money has been a taboo subject. What if we started talking about the things that are important to us like:

• What keeps us up at night?

• Do we feel like we will never get ahead?

• Are we worried we will outlive our money?

• Who will take care of us if we get sick?

When women speak up about things that matter, we make change. By 2030, women are expected to control $30 trillion of the financial assets in the U.S. That represents two-thirds of the wealth in this country!

However, women defer the family’s financial planning and decisionmaking to their husbands. But 80% of women die single, while 80% of men die married. Don't let others use your grief to take advantage of you when you find yourself alone again.

Join Supra Plows & Debra Batesel from WealthWave and gain a better understanding of your finances.

WHY EVERY SENIOR NEEDS A PLAN FOR LONG TERM CARE

Thursday, June 27, 10 a.m.

Tom Hegan, author of “Don't Worry, Retire Happy” says, “You must have a plan for Long-Term Care.“ And did you know that it is one of the fastest ways to exhaust your retirement savings is to be ambushed by the costs of long-term care or other medical costs?

Join Ron Walton, a retired Healthcare Administrator, who has provided care for thousands of seniors during his 35 year career, managing Skilled Nursing, Rehab and Assisted Living facilities. He will share his first-hand experience of the financial and health risks of not having a plan. He will discuss the many options currently available.

Why Purchase a Long-Term Insurance Policy?

• Asset Protection

• Protection of a Healthy Spouse or Partner

• Removal of Caregiving Burden from Loved Ones

• Maintenance of control, Independence, and Dignity

• Peace of Mind

Approximately 72 percent of seniors over age 65 will need some form of Long-Term Care. The problem is no one believes it will be them. Do not limit your future care options or put your assets at risk by not having a plan.

Anderson Cooper's (son of Gloria Vanderbilt) birthday falls on June 3. One of our most well-known news anchors, he is famous for inserting himself into a story if it means helping someone. Leading CNN's show “Anderson Cooper 360°,” Cooper has covered Hurricane Katrina, earthquakes in Haiti, and the war in the Middle East.

Patricia Nell Warren was born on June 15. Known by pen name, Patricia Kilimanjaro, she was an American novelist, poet, editor and journalist. Her second novel, The Front Runner, was the first work of contemporary gay fiction to make the New York Times Best Seller List.

Last month, we listed five purposes of the LGBT group. One was support to programs in the larger community related to LGBT needs. From July 3 through July 17, the LGBTQ club will partner with the Seniors with Warm Hearts in a special needs drive to assist Street Teens and The Center's Youth and Family Service Program.

Street Teens is dedicated to assisting homeless, abandoned, and at-risk youth in the Las Vegas Valley since 2001. At least 30% of these teens are LGBT, many abandoned by their families for this reason.

The Center for LGBTQ Youth and Family Service Program celebrates the diversity, courage and tenacity of our youth and offers space and support for their personal growth as they develop into their authentic identities and leads us all into the future.

If you are interested in finding out more about the LGBT Special interest group, or its events, contact Steve Besefske by text at 847-409-4069 or Sheryl at 818-517-0610.

SUN CITY ALIANTE SONGSTERS

You rocked the house both nights during the Spring concert Songsters presented to the community on April 19 and 20. We are so appreciative of our loyal supporters and everyone in our audience.

The Songsters Spring Sing was well attended both nights with most people finding more than one song they wanted to sing along with as we presented music both uplifting and inspirational. We are so lucky to have this community that supports our efforts in music! We are also lucky to have so many talented musicians both vocal and instrumental who work hard for months under the direction of Lorraine Zanello for the spring and Holly Strasser for the winter concerts.

As the spring season closes, we will take a brief break and then begin again in September learning our holiday music. If you are a singer, we need you!!! Please consider joining our choir in September when we come together for the winter concert. Dates, times, and contact information will be published in The Breeze in July and August. Until then, keep singing and enjoying our community
