Cleaning your Austin Stone & Pre-Cast Limestone
Austin Stone and Pre-cast Limestone are commonly used in residential and commercial construction in Texas. They are considered to be delicate surfaces and should be carefully cleaned using soft wash techniques.
Soft washing utilizes a gentle cleaning solution to break down the growth, pollutants, and infestations. Using low-pressure methods to clean your Austin Stone and pre-cast stone can greatly reduce damage, such as erosion and premature aging.
Our technicians undergo extensive training and are properly educated on how to clean various types of surfaces safely and can identify the proper cleaning methods.

Austin Stone is a soft, sedimentary stone, typically found and quarried in central Texas. Pre-cast limestone, on the other hand, is a man-made mixture of Portland cement and aggregates of limestone that is pressed into a mold to give it the desired shape .

Due to the delicate composition of these stones, it's important to avoid using abrasive cleaning methods. Some manufacturers of precast limestone even say that you should not apply a pressure greater than 500 PSI. Too much pressure can erode and cause deterioration of the surface which can cause premature aging and damage to the stone.
Did You Know?
Power washing is a highly effective cleaning solution, best used on durable materials like concrete. Light pressure PSI on a pressure washer is 2000 or lower, medium pressure, 2,000–2,700 PSI, and heavy-duty ranges from 3,000–4,000+ PSI. As previously mentioned, some surfaces like pre-cast limestone should avoid over 500 PSI, further exemplifying soft wash as the best cleaning method.

Directions
Preheat the oven to 350˚ and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Pour the sprinkles into a small shallow bowl. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
1 In another large bowl, beat the butter and sugar with a mixer on mediumhigh speed until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Add the flour mixture and beat on low speed until just combined.

Ingredients
1/2 c. red, white, and blue sprinkles
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. kosher salt

2. Roll the dough into 1¼-inch balls (about 24). Flatten each cookie with the palm of your hand into a 2-inch disk. Press the dough into the sprinkles to coat the top side and round edges; do not coat the bottom.
3 Arrange half the cookies on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake until the cookies are set and the bottom edges just start turning golden, about 12 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes on the pans, then remove to racks to cool completely. Bake the remaining cookies.
5
2 sticks salted butter, at room temperature
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3 pints vanilla ice cream, slightly softened
4. Line a separate baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop about ½ cup ice cream onto the bottom of a cookie and place another cookie on top, sprinkleside up. Gently press together to spread the ice cream to the edges. Place the ice cream sandwich on the baking sheet and transfer it to the freezer. Repeat with the remaining cookies and ice cream and freeze at least 1 hour before serving, or wrap each sandwich in plastic wrap and freeze for up to 1 month.
