It was through my DNA journey, that I’ve discovered that my ancestors were free African-Americans who lived in Quaker territory. This book begins with Abner Truitt Sr., my 4th great-grandfather, who was born free in 1760 Cross Creek, Delaware when it was still a British Territory. Soon Delaware would be the 1st state in the United States of America and Abner’s name would appear on the 1st U.S. Census in 1790; the year George Washington became the 1st U.S. President, and the 13 colonies became the 13 states of the Union.
