Visit back IES Cabo de la Huerta (Alicante, Spain)CEIP La Albufereta (Alicante, Spain) In our school, CEIP La Albufereta, we´ve been working on a project about the Native American people, as we´ve had a language assistant from the U.S.A. Our 6th grade students (12 years old) have searched for information about the different tribes that lived in America before Christopher Colombus arrived. They have learned about the places where they lived, the type of houses they built, the activities they did for living and the food they used to eat and cook. They´ve worked in teams about 17 different tribes and 3 recipes. The result has been very successful, so we decided to make a presentation for our partners at secondary school, IES Cabo Huertas. We think they have all enjoyed the project and we hope you also do so. Different groups made their presentations in three different sessions. Both students from 1st ESO, 2nd ESO, 4th ESO and 1st Bachillerato had the opportunity to realise the high level and know-how these young pupils had. We all learnt a lot. We believe on the importance of providing students with real opportunities to communicate to a real audience. We also consider we learn by serving others. Both schools have their gates wide open to share a common space for learning.
