PATCHWAY FESTIVAL 2019: A Great Success! Patchway Festival 2019 has now come to an end after an amazing fortnight of great events that saw more people than ever get involved with the theme of Unity. The Festival fortnight kicked off on Saturday 20th July with a HUGE community fun day in Scott Park. There was live music all day, a large funfair, a vast amount of food and refreshments and an amazing amount of local stall holders selling local items and produce. We have raised a huge amount of money this year thanks' to our residents attending events and donating towards our raffle. On the Sunday, we held our first ever food fair where people from our local community cooked and displayed different food items for residents to enjoy free of charge. The first week brought two amazing tribute acts to Patchway with Absolutely Elton being attended well with over 60 people in Brooks Café and 130 people enjoyed our Twerzel trib-

ute band with The RiffToads. The dog show on the Tumps was great fun for everyone involved and helped to raise a substantial amount for Bristol Animal Rescue Centre. The second week brought John Lawson’s circus to town with

we can’t wait to do it again” said Caroline Browne, Southern Brooks Community Cohesion Manager. This year we will be repeating the lantern parade and again will be offering workshops to children in local schools who will be given the opportunity to learn about Diwali and make lanterns for the parade. On top of this we are also offering Bollywood dancing workshops this year which will give children the chance to get up and perform their new dance moves on stage at the celebration day. We can also offer lantern making workshop and dance sessions to local community groups so if you are

Patchway Festival, Avon Indian Association and Southern Brooks Community Partnerships are excited to announce that we will be bringing the Diwali celebration back to Patchway this year. “The celebration last year was such a success and it was so great to see so many people get involved that

residents flocking to see this amazing show. Also, we had the Memory Café sponsored walk, there’s more about that on page 7 as well as a musical workshop at Coniston Community Centre. The Flower and Garden show this year was very well attended with Patchway coming out in force in all categories. The winners can be

The celebration event this year will fall in October – the final date and venue are still to be announced so if you want to take part this year make sure that you keep your eyes peeled for more information coming from Patchway Festival and Southern Brooks. There will be food, dancing, arts and crafts, Henna and a chance to celebrate with everyone who live in Patchway and Charlton Hayes.
