Come together as a CS community in joyous prayer as our students help to lead the service together with our wonderful PAS clergy. No prior registration is required.

Havdalah is a special ceremony that marks the end of Shabbat. We will come together to smell the spices, light the many-wicked candle, and taste the wine/grape juice.

Kindergarten families will join their children in class for a special moment marking the end of the first semester of their Jewish learning at PAS. No prior registration is required.

HANUKKAH FOR K–2

Wed & Thu / Dec 7 & 15 / During Congregational School

In the days of the Maccabees, the Menorah was lit with oil. Today, families throughout the world use olive oil to light Hanukkiyot. Our youngest students will learn to make olive oil using an oil press. They will also make and eat edible dreidels, sing Hanukkah songs, and learn to play the dreidel game.

CELEBRATING HANUKKAH AT THE CONGREGATIONAL SCHOOL!

Throughout the week of December 12, Congregational School students will be celebrating Hanukkah with special programming and snacks to mark the Festival of Lights. There will be trivia games, making and eating edible dreidels, sufganiyot (donuts), and other hands-on projects. See page 10 for more Hanukkah listings.

Hanukkah For Grades

3–4

Mon & Thu / Dec 12 & 15 / During Congregational School

Our students will participate in a Hanukkah trivia game, craft their own Hanukkah candles, make and eat edible dreidels, sing Hanukkah songs, and play the dreidel game.

5–6

Tue, Wed, Thu / Dec 13, 14, 15 / During Congregational School

Our oldest students will enjoy a special program with faculty member Dov Smiley about his book, Shield of the Maccabees, written with famed Jewish author, Eric Kimmel. They will also have trivia fun, make and eat edible dreidels, sing Hanukah songs, and play the dreidel game.
