HANUKKAH FOR K–2

Wed & Thu / Dec 7 & 15 / During Congregational School

In the days of the Maccabees, the menorah was lit with oil, not with candles. Today, many families throughout the world use olive oil to light hanukkiyot. Our youngest students will learn to make fresh olive oil using an oil press. They will also make and eat edible dreidels, sing Hanukkah songs, and learn to play the dreidel game.

HANUKKAH FOR GRADES 3–4

Mon & Thu / Dec 12 & 15 / During Congregational School

Our students will participate in a Hanukkah trivia game, craft their own Hanukkah candles, make and eat edible dreidels, sing Hanukkah songs, and play the dreidel game.

HANUKKAH FOR GRADES 5–6

Tue, Wed, Thu / Dec 13, 14, 15 / During Congregational School

Our oldest students will enjoy a special program with faculty member Dov Smiley about his book, Shield of the Maccabees, written with famed Jewish author, Eric Kimmel. They will also have trivia fun, make and eat edible dreidels, sing Hanukkah songs, and play the dreidel game.
