“Vandana Gulati is an Indo-British artist, born and raised in India and living in London. She practices as a commercial lawyer with one of the Big4s by the week and as a passionate artist over the weekend. Her work is inspired by her own journey, accepting failures and seeing beauty in adversity and aims to inspire viewers and strike connections to parts of their own journeys!
Vandana brings together creativity and unique textures to create tangible dimensions to her work, evoking varied perspectives in different hues. The practice seeks to explore the interplay of roughness and beauty; of how rugged and cracked parts (much like those in life) can be transformed with light and colours over several layers (much like inner work) to create subjective interpretations for the viewer.
The word “Passionista” defines Vandana & her artistic endeavours more than any other word! The symbol “Infinity” ♾ represents the infinite possibilities this life has to offer!
Each painting is created with lots of passion, love, high quality professional materials and textures. They express either a thought, a state of mind or an emotion, but always open to more interpretations. Vandana loves playing with textures to create a bit of tangible 3D dimension to the painting She also often accompanies her paintings with some words which adds that extra bit of intangible dimension to the piece
Vandana’s work has been presented in a few exhibitions in London. She is on the panel at ARTIQ selling and leasing her artworks to MNCs in London. Amongst the sale of her works to private collectors, one of her favourite works, Ocean, has been acquired by headquarters of a major MNC in London. Her work was recently exhibited in an Art Gallery in Halifax, and she will be exhibiting her work in the Untitled Art Fair at Chelsea Old Town Hall.’’

‘‘My artwork represents a spectrum of emotions and challenges that any one of us could relate to.
The practice aims to reflect upon, learn and unlearn from our experiences; and to inspire us to keep creating beauty in our lives, despite all the odd against it.’’
Like the waves of the Ocean, I soar high, and I crash… I try again and make a splash,
But it’s not just the action on the surface that you see… It’s the unexplored depths, underneath the waves, that makes me ‘Me’!
‘‘Silk’’
The paintings in the Silk Series are inspired from raw Silk that silkworms tirelessly produce while weaving their cocoons.
They seek to appreciate the slow and toiling process to produce anything beautiful in life, often layered with several staged complexities.
The way Silk reflects light and colours appear strikingly vivid and different in different hues; the paintings in this series offer a similar visual experience for a viewer to draw upon arduous times of their lives which has helped them create something beautiful.

‘‘Nature’’
The paintings in the Nature Series are inspired from the abundant beauty and learnings lie in nature
The various pieces explore how simple blending of colours and textures can recreate something that’s far outside our grasp yet evoking the sensory experience of being in its presence.
The various shades of a Sunset are undoubtedly one of the prettiest times in a poetic way! They never fail to remind us that whatever has risen shall set. But equally, that an ending is only a time to let go off, to give rise to something new.
A sight of a very distant galaxy, just like a dreamer's mind full of fantasies, something to visually drown yourself in.

‘‘ThreeSidesoftheTruth’’ SERIES
This Triptych Series symbolizes the three sides to any version of Truth; your, mine and the actual truth i.e. with no subjective tampering but just the facts.
While there are commonalities in all versions, they are all different. With slight variations to the gradations and the various interpretations, each piece represents a version that forms part of the overall triptych nature of truth.
Butterflies, whilst seemingly so delicate, are deceptively quite resilient.
Only after surviving the internal turmoil in the cocoon, they get to experience the light of the day. Then they must overcome the external storms as they spread their wings to taste freedom.
Representing a sense of calm in the storm that they weather out, this piece symbolizes the resilience that we all have, even the most seemingly sensitive ones, to overcome our challenges, with some sense of self-belief!
The pieces in this Series represent the various ways in which we tend to learn; learn about others, learn from our mistakes, learn from our strengths and weaknesses and most importantly, when we learn more about ourselves.

Reflecting inner-peace and feeling of content inside, despite the mess or roughness on the outside, albeit sprinkled with various colours of life.
Representing every woman who has had to find her own animal spirit to overcome any catastrophe in life, maybe something as painful as a burning and crumbling heart. But rising above it all, with a strength she didn’t know existed and comes out roaring with an ‘Eye of the Tiger’.

‘’TexturedHappiness’’ Series
The paintings in this Series celebrate the beauty in all the rugged and textured times in our lives.
When we layer them with colours and light (literally and metaphorically), the alchemy of the process has the power to create something beautiful with these socalled textures.

Inspired from the Union Jack, Brexit seeks to explore the blurred lines between the virtues these colours represent. White represents peace and Honesty; Red represents hardiness, bravery, strength and valor; and Blue represents vigilance, truth, loyalty, perseverance and justice; In life, especially when any Union breaks, whether of nations or of people, these are so intricately mixed up that it’s impossible to recognise one without the presence of the other. .
Inspired by the same colours as Brexit I, Brexit II seeks to explore the various versions of the interplay between the virtues, just like the different versions of the Brexit deals that were put together.

Created in the midst of Covid, Change represents ‘the only constant’ that there is; representing everything that ‘Change’ has to offer in our lives. Beauty lies in realising that changes bring about a refined version of us that we didn’t think could even exist.
Clarity hardly ever comes overnight, does it?
This piece seeks to acknowledge all the confusions, breakdowns, paralysing fears, the pain of letting go and amidst a tornado of emotions, when with one catalyst, you feel propelled out of the mist, to have your moment of epiphany, your much needed ‘Clarity’!
When it doesn’t go our way the first time, we have a choice to paint all over it and start again! Celebrating the Triumph over all the failures, reboots and attempts and the courage that’s needed to be vulnerable enough to dare, which is nothing but a personal ‘triumph’.
Often the various frequencies in life have blurred lines, patterns and messages but we only perceive what we pay attention to.
