Understanding NADES
A fresh approach to post-hatch feeding 1 SmartStart™ Inspired by nature 2
How is it possible for desert plant seeds to germinate, despite having been buried in hot, dry sand for long periods of time? The answer lies in natural compounds – known as NADES – that can lock water inside the seeds, so that it doesn’t evaporate. Neither lipid nor water, NADES are formed when two or more solids are mixed in a certain ratio and subsequently become liquid in the mixture. NADES are natural and edible. These wonders of nature are well known to biochemists and they have been extensively studied by a research team at Leiden in the Netherlands.
