The Pasadena Independent School District mourns the loss of board member Victoria “Vickie” Morgan, whose thirtynine year tenure left an indelible mark on the community. Elected in 1986 as the first woman on the Pasadena ISD Board of Trustees, Morgan rose from a homeroom mom to a dedicated public servant, holding the Place seven seat for nearly four decades. Her tenure spanned five decades, two centuries, and two millennia, during which she worked with twenty-three board members, collaborated with five superintendents, and cast pivotal votes to hire four of them. Morgan served as a board officer for twentyseven years, including eight terms as president, nine as vice president, and five each as secretary and assistant Secretary.

January was School Board Recognition Month, and Pasadena ISD honored its board of trustees for their dedication and commitment to the district and its students. The theme of this year’s School Board Recognition Month is “Leadership for Tomorrow’s Texas,” which highlights the board’s commitment to creating meaningful educational experiences and opportunities that prepare students for college, careers, and beyond. The Pasadena ISD Board of Trustees were highlighted at the regular January meeting, where Dr. DeeAnn Powell, Superintendent, commended the trustees for their devotion and commitment to the students and staff. A short video was played from various schools across the district, giving thanks to the board of trustees for their diligence and importance over the years. Sheena Childs, of Community Relations for Commissioner Adrian Garcia, Precinct 2, presented trustees with certificates in appreciation of School Board Recognition Month.
