Mary Help Honored for “Connections”
M
ary Help of Christians Academy in North Haledon, NJ, has been commended for its Health Care Connections Program and awarded a Best Practice for assisting students to grow spiritually and professionally while discerning a direction in life. Congratulations! Now in its fourth year, Health Care Connections is a comprehensive program that allows students to explore health care professions and earn college credits through course work. Students gain career-based experience through internships at local hospitals during their final two years. Career shadowing experiences, by working alongside doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and specialists, help students obtain an inside look into their field of interest. Prayer and reflection underline the essence and direction of this program.
CORPUS CHRISTI SCHOOL, PORT CHESTER, NY – T’was the season for helping those in need, and eighth graders were happy to carry donated food items to the school storage area, before preparing them for distribution. Below, basketball teams and coaches kicked off the new season with a special Mass in Corpus Christi Church.
There’s more good news! The Charles Edison Fund of Newark, NJ, has awarded Mary Help a grant of $24,000 in support of the Health Care Connections Program. The Charles Edison Fund is dedicated to the support of worthwhile endeavors within the areas of medical research, science education, and historic preservation.
