Who we are

Partnership for Modern Puerto Rico (PMPR) is a non-for-profit organization focused on the economic development and the improvement of life quality in Puerto Rico.

Founded by former Puerto Rico Secretary of Economic Development, Alberto Bacó-Bagué, PMPR is a certified PR tax exemption organization pursuant to the Section 1101.01 (a) (2) B and a 501-C-3 NFP comprised of a carefully curated group of individuals from Puerto Rico’s private sector — Puerto Rican-owned business CEOs, new residents, diaspora, and key multi-national companies with presence in Puerto Rico.

PMPR is committed to creating a dialogue amongst our members to facilitate initiatives dedicated to strengthening Puerto Rico’s long-term economic growth and stability through a socially conscious lens. Its networking elements and activities provide a unique vantage point that serves in adding value and making distinctive contributions for a better Puerto Rico, all the while striving to make them enjoyable and fun for you. Beyond that, we are an organization committed to reacting to new trends in the economy and enabling the necessary environment for them to convert into investments for Puerto Rico. We foster the private sector taking over of economic development in a non-partisan approach.

What we do

Since its foundation in 2017 and properly starting in January 2018, we have established a movement integrated by committed people spearheading Puerto Rico’s economy from the vantage point of the private sector. Today, Partnership for Modern Puerto Rico (PMPR) has evolved into a 100+ ambassador’s forum of socially conscious leaders, which includes both local and new residents alike. We are all committed to evolving this organization, joining new members, and succeeding in impact initiatives.

Transformative legacy builders agenda

Partnership for Modern Puerto Rico is a forum of 100+ ambassadors of socially conscious leaders focused on the economic development and the improvement of life’s quality in Puerto Rico. We envision a modern and sustainable Puerto Rico promoted by the private sector that permits the reinsertion of itself into global currents. Considering it a project, mission or an undertaking as an organization, PMPR members have the opportunity to move the needle with this potent and transformational agenda.

The agenda is a behind the scenes results oriented and high impact. We have identified champions from our members for each one of the initiatives and continue on an ongoing process of engaging members that have the commitment to one of the transformative initiatives. As leaders and connectors, we constantly find ways of engaging our members and recruit them to participate in one or several of our legacy and transformative agenda projects. It’s time for the private sector to be aggressive in leading Puerto Rico to realize its true potential.

Engagement of the successful PR DIASPORA is a highly needed initiative to create the necessary conditions for the young talent to return to the island. And that the ones on the island stay convinced of the future we envision and are leading the way to

A potent instrument to attract targeted industries/ sectors by offering investment equity funding in addition to tax incentives will permit a more attractive proposition for desired relocation candidates. We are working with a group of experienced members developing a workable framework to create the first Puerto Rico SOVEREIGN DEVELOPMENT FUND.

EDUCATION is the most complex conundrum Puerto Rico’s future confronts. Initiatives of all concerned members are grasping thoughts and strategies creating a new paradigm and performance for public education. Public EDUCATION will have a restart, a reboot and PMPR will be behind the vision and execution. Direct PMPR member relations to high level decision makers will pave the way for a real relaunch.

beyond the Forum

PMPR enters a new dimension of its purpose to be, by incorporating a systematic and well-thought-out forum of a small, curated army of proven successful young and middle-aged entrepreneurs, who are demonstrating the potential to be exponents of the Boricua of Modern Puerto Rico that we envision. The selected few make the most of opportunities and exercise their own judgment in their entrepreneurial steps beyond accelerator. Beyond the Forum by PMPR is the result of identifying the needs of young and middle aged highly talented entrepreneurial leaders within our community.

We are identifying a highly curated group, by invitation, for the first cohort of newer generation members. The participants should be, amongst others, in the management/foundation of businesses with the capacity for great growth (scalable), interested and capable of transcending our horizons (export goods or services), appreciate the transfer of knowledge and interact with professionals with a lot of experience. High ethical standards, leadership gifts, and social behavior.

This group would become regular members of the Partnership for a reduced cost of $1,500.00 annual contribution (applicable for the first two years), then the contribution for the members is $5,000. The first year would consist of 14 months.

In addition, the participants will have the commitment to create a forum of 8 to 10 peers that PMPR mentors will help recruit, as they must meet the criteria of the Partnership and at the same time be acceptable to them as members of an autonomous Forum. The Forum will serve as a Sounding Board to each participant. PMPR and its Founder’s commitment extends to providing the forum with mentorship on how to establish and successfully manage the forum, transfer of knowledge/experiences in facets that have distinguished them in the public and private sector.

By making the correct connections through the Partnership for Modern Puerto Rico, these leaders can enlighten and make sharing their one-of-a-kind experience a powerful tool for collaborators and themselves.

Initiation fee. Yearly contribution for the first two years. Rising entrepreneur is defined as young and middle-aged entrepreneurs with an ongoing business generating profits based on a written business plan that includes vision, mission, strategic milestones, and financial projections.
