BEHIND THE SCORES
It’s back. Our popular behind the scores event is a small competition with in depth verbal feedback specifically focusing on getting those all important points at competitions. The competition is followed by a fun, audition style workshop with Kalvin LaMey.
The Competition
The competition will be split by age and genre. Categories or ages may be merged to avoid dancers being in a category alone. Placements will be given after each section 1st - 3rd will be awarded and feedback will be given to the dancers. Judges choice awards are up for grabs throughout the day. These awards are given to dancers who catch the judges eye. They are not based on scores.
Improv challenges
Always the judges favourite part of the day. We now have three sections Jazz, Commercial and Lyrical. Each will be split into age groups.
Dancers can enter one, two or all three. Just £5 per dancer per section. Dancers will dance to an unknown piece of music as the judges choose a champion and runner up in each section and age group.
Genres Acro, Ballet, Tap, Modern/Jazz, Musical Theatre, Character, Song and Dance, Lyrical/Contemporary, Street/Commercial, open.
We reserve the right to merge categories in the interest of competition.

Teens 13-15
Seniors 16+
We reserve the right to merge age groups in the interest of competition.
AWARDS
Placement medals for 1st -3rd will be awarded in each category for solos, duets and trios.
1st - 3rd trophies will be awarded for groups
Judges Choice Awards will be given out throughout the competition for dancers whose performance stands out. An improv champion and runner up will be chosen in each section.

A deposit of £50 will be due via bank transfer. Details can be found below and on the booking form. Please use your dance school as a reference. Spaces are very limited due to the in depth nature of the feedback.

BEHIND THE SCORES RULES
Solos should be no longer than 2 minutes
Duets and trios should be no longer than 2.5 minutes
Groups should be no longer than 4 minutes
We endeavour to estimate the running time of the day as accurately as possible.
Judges decisions are final.
Entries must be submitted by the deadline provided.
Payment of the deposit is due upon booking. Spaces aren’t secure without the deposit. The remaining balance must be paid at the latest one week prior to the event.
Spectator tickets must be purchased before the event. They are priced at £12 each (Plus a small booking fee). Spectators will be asked to sign in as they arrive.
2 teachers passes are included with every schools entry.
There may be a limit on spectator tickets per dancer depending on the venue. This must be adhered to as it is in place to ensure that fire safety regulations are upheld.
Venues should be treated with respect at all times and kept in a tidy condition. Please use bins provided and take all belongings at the end of the day.
All dancers must be supervised at all times by a parent, guardian, coach or chaperone.
Please keep chaperones in the dressing rooms to a minimum. There may be limited space for the dancers to change. We suggest nominating a few chaperones prior to the event.
We promote a relaxed environment so spectators can come and go, grab a coffee etc, however please be mindful of moving around too much in the auditorium while dancers are performing as it can be a distraction.
Please encourage your spectators to cheer, clap and woop as much as they like!
We expect respect and support of each other at all times.
Non sportsmanship behaviour will not be tolerated. From dancers, parents or coaches.
Any such behaviour will result in score penalties for those involved.
