What are use of Anaerobic Adhesives in industry? Anaerobic adhesives are basically one part adhesives consisting dimethacrylate monomers which allows the adhesive to cure only in absence of air. Compared to other acrylics, they are far less toxic and have slightly harmless odor. These also do not cause corrosion in metals. Structural bonds can be easily made with anaerobic adhesives. Plastics, metals, glass, woods etc. can be bonded using these and it also includes thermoplastics and thermosets. Bonds made using these adhesives can endure water, weather and temperature up to 200 degree Celsius. Exposure to organic solvents cannot destroy bonds created by anaerobic adhesive. 1. No special conditions for curing – While many adhesives require a certain room temperature or special condition for curing, anaerobic adhesives do not. The only condition is that the objects to be bonded should be placed in absence of light, heat or oxygen after the adhesive has been applied to the surface. These work extremely fast and cures soon enough when the objects are placed together tightly using the bonding agent. 2. Vast range of surfaces – Many adhesives show lesser efficiency or power when unusual surfaces are bonded. However, anaerobic adhesive has the ability to create a sturdy bond between a wide range of materials. This has made it irreplaceable in many industries as well as home or DIY projects.
