Letter from President, Robert J. Peluso Celebrating six decades of dedication to our businesses, residents, and volunteers, the Parsippany Area Chamber of Commerce has been a vital non-profit organization in the Parsippany Area. Throughout the year, our Chamber focused on hosting job fairs for families and businesses, enhancing our Shop Local Campaign, welcoming businesses with grand opening celebrations,networking events, and providing educational and informational seminars to support our communities along with networking events to connect our community. The Parsippany Area is a thriving community with immense resources and cultivated by our ideal location, invaluable workforce, and developing infrastructure. A major focus for the Chamber is Economic Development and the Chamber is preparing its move into our new offices along with the Parsippany Area Visitor Center to 90 East Halsey Road in Parsippany. We are excited about our new facilities along with the future launch of our new community friendly website and rebranding initiatives in the New Year. We are repositioning the Chamber to provided added support to our business community and local residents. As our community fills our vacant office space, creates jobs, and invests in our infrastructure, the value and attributes of the Parsippany Area become more illuminated and enables our Parsippany Area Chamber of Commerce to tell our story of why the Parsippany Area is an exceptional place to live, work, shop, and visit! As one of the largest municipalities based upon population in Morris County, our residents enjoy a good school system, fine parks, and recreational activities, safe and well-maintained neighborhoods, and good services. Our Chamber members are good corporate neighbors helping to support our local community and they are from Fortune 500 companies, local community businesses, professionals, retail establishments and non-profit organizations. The infrastructure requirements to accommodate and enhance economic development is a key part of government planning and we stress that local and county governments must work with communities and act accordingly since overall projects impact our overall economy and our quality of life. The Chamber will continue collaborating with our government and agencies to ensure that businesses and residents are equally represented and our overall quality of life and environment is preserved. We will continue to work with new businesses entering our communities in order to provide local jobs and act as an advocate for lower taxes and fewer regulations. Our Parsippany Area Visitor Center also continues to re-discover history and through our extensive places to stay, rest, and refresh, we have strong opportunities to grow our tourist industry which consequently assists our taxpayers with revenue and services. We encourage supporting our Visitor Center along with the Parsippany Historical and Preservation Society, our fine hotels and restaurants. By celebrating our past and building our future we will ensure our children of today become the stewards or our community tomorrow. Without our amazing team of fosters, we could not rescue homeless dogs in need. Every dog that is fostered, and subsequently adopted, makes room for another dog to be rescued. If you’d like to help but aren’t looking to take in a dog permanently, fostering is a great option. Typically, W.A.R.’s fosters hold onto their foster dogs until they are adopted. Dogs can be in the rescue for a week or two or months. If you cannot commit to taking in a dog for an extended period of time, the Adoption/Foster Coordinator will work with you to create a plan.

Parsippany Historical and Preservation Society Smith/Baldwin House 460 South Beverwyck Road Parsippany-Troy Hills, N.J.
This is a Federal style two-story framed building constucted in four stages. The center section was completed in 1811 by John J. Cobb. The first floor consists of a side hall with front and back doors, a front parlor and a dining room each with a fireplace and nine-foot ceilings. The second floor mirrors the plan plus a room at the front of the stait hall. Hiram Smith Jr. and wife Mary Osborn purchased the house in 1833 and added the side wings in 1854-1856.Their son Richard built the kitchen wing in 1872. His daughter Mrjorie Baldwin raised the roof, adding a third floor to the west wing in 1909. It was bought buy the Township in 2013 with Open Space funds.
Bowlsby/DeGelleke House and Parsippany Historical Museum 320 Baldwin Road Parsippany-Troy Hills, N.J. This is a one and a half story clapboard sided framed farmhouse sitting a stone foundation. The house was built by George Bowlsby Jr. c.1790. An 1819 addition by son Nathaniel to the right of the door resulted in a central entrance appearance. A center hall with front and back doors contains an open staicase to the second floor. On either side of the hallway are two interconnecting rooms. The left (west) side contains a front parlor with a Gothic Revival fireplace and a back room. The right side has a dining room and kitchen. Original floorboards remain with a replacement floor in the kitchen. The house was purchased in 1977 by the Township and is listed on the State and National Historic Registers.
The Old Littleton School House 1780 Littleton Road (Rt 202) Parsippany Troy-Hills, N.J. Built c.1796, it was a rural school until 1810, when it became the Union Bible School, an interdenominational Sunday school started by Mrs. Silas Condit and Mrs. William Lee. In 1872, it became Hanover Township public school Number 85. It was sold to the Littleton Baptist Church in the early 1900’s and used as a chapel. In 1964 the building was purchased by the McGreevey family and used for storage for their Llewellyn Farms Restaurant. In 2000 the property was leased to the Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills for 99 years.
