• A technology startup founded by Prahasith Veluvolu ’13, Jacobi Petrucciani ’12 and Colton Voege ’13 is taking off at universities around the country this fall. Y Combinator-backed Mimir is a platform for professors to give faster feedback on assignments and is aimed at helping to create better engineers. Their work was featured in an article in Venture Beat in July. For more on their project, see the write-up in the “Class Notes” section of the Summer 2014 Phoenix.

• Alex Gottwald was spotlighted as the “owner of a snow-cone truck business” in the freshman introduction convocation speech outlining notable class achievements given by Duke University’s dean of undergraduate admissions.
